Hazel Christine Lee Medley
Hazel Christine Lee Medley, 93 of Dillard Georgia passed away October 3, 2007 at Chatuga Nursing Home in Hiawassee Ga.
Hazel was born in Towns County, Georgia September 30, 1914 the daughter of the late James Charlie Lee and Betty Pearl Howard Lee.
She was a devoted wife to her late husband Edgar Medley and mother to her daughter Frankie Jo Vinson. Hazel was a member of Betty’s Creek Baptist Church. She spent much of her life working as a sales clerk and homemaker.
She is survived by her Daughter, Frankie Jo Vinson and son-in-law Gene Vinson, of Dillard, Georgia; three grandsons Toby Vinson and wife Kris of Watkinsville, GA, Tim Vinson of Dillard, GA, Joe Vinson and wife Karen of Flowery Branch, Ga; One granddaughter Rebecca Gillespie of Gainesville, GA; one Granddaughter-in–law Leslie Vinson of Gainesville, Ga; seven Great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Saturday October 6, 2007 from 1:00 until 2:45 PM followed by funeral services at 3:00 with Rev. Doug Porter and Rev. Ronia Hunter officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Building Fund or The Gideon’s in memory of Mrs. Medley.

James Frederick DuBois, Sr
James Frederick DuBois Sr. affectionately known as “Jim”, 30, of Clayton Georgia passed away October 8, 2007.
He was born in Fulton County Georgia November 18, 1976 the son of Dr. Richard E. DuBois and the Late Karen York DuBois. He was a member of the Clayton United Methodist Church. He attended Rabun County High School and graduated from Regional High School in Jackson County Georgia. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and after serving his country, He attended Forsyth Technology College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he received a degree in Graphic Design.
He was preceded in death by his mother Karen York DuBois.
He is survived by two daughters, Libby DuBois, and Lyndsay DuBois both of Varnville, South Carolina; one son James Frederick DuBois Jr. of Varnville, South Carolina; his father, Dr. Richard E. DuBois of Young Harris Georgia; grandparents, Mary Jo and James York of Clayton, Georgia; two aunts Gail York of Clayton Georgia, Janice York Deaton of Beaufort South Carolina; two half brothers David DuBois, Joseph DuBois; one half sister Laura DuBois.
A funeral service was held in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Cook officiating. Burial was in the Roane Cemetery.

Ronnie Blake Gillespie
June 3, 1955 – October 11, 2007
Ronnie Blake Gillespie, a native of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2007. He was the grandson of the late George and Fanny Stiles of Franklin and Ted and Virgie Gillespie also of Franklin, N.C. He was the son of the late Don Gillespie of Franklin and is survived by his mother, Barbara Cloer of Mountain City, GA. Also surviving are his companion Jodie Bennett of Hartwell, GA, his brother, Danny Gillespie of Franklin, his sister, Kathi Bayne of Brevard, N.C., his sons, Derrick Gillespie of Clover, S.C. and Luke Gillespie of Rock Hill, S.C. and two grandchildren, Champ and Chloe Gillespie of Clover, S.C. Also surviving are his step children, Josh, Crissy and Nicki Showers from the Charlotte, N.C. area.
Ronnie will be buried at the family cemetery at Hickory Knoll located in Franklin. A memorial service will be held by Pastor Robert McCullum at the Gorda Ruth Chapel on Hickory Knoll in Franklin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007.
Inez Garland
Inez Garland, 83, lovingly called Mama nez, of Lakemont, GA, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 18, 2007.
She was born in Rabun County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Thomas Caudell and Georgia Ann Turpin Caudell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas, brothers, Sam Caudell, Marcus Caudell, Thomas Earl Caudell; sisters, Irene Forester, Margie Chandler, Laura Lovell, Blanche Christenbury.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Garland of the home, two sons, Cary Thomas and his wife Carol of Clayton, GA, and Don and Betty Thomas, of Greenville, SC; and a sister, Pauline Clark of Clayton, GA. Also surviving are 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Inez was a lifetime member of Lakemont Baptist Church and was also a member of the Womans Club and AARP. She was a loving and caring mother and wife.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Saturday October 20, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Lakemont Baptist Church on Sunday October 21, 2007 at 2 PM with Rev. Matt Shuler officiating. She will lie in state from 1 PM until time of service. Burial will follow in Wiley Cemetery.

Terry Eugene Bevers, 49, of 171 West Midland Avenue died Wednesday, November 17, 2004.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Bevers was a son of the late J. T. Clarke and Elsie Howington Bevers. He was a moving and storage supervisor and had lived many years in Monroe before moving to Winder. He was a member of the Monroe Congregational Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lester Bevers of Winder; daughter, Allie Atkinson of Winder; sons: Kevin Bevers, Donny Bevers, Terry James Bevers and Steven Bevers all of Monroe; brother, Jim Bevers of Dallas, TX; and grandchildren: Vanessa Bevers, Logan Bevers, Austin Bevers, Destiny Brown, and Paula Brown.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, November 20, 2004 in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. His sons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.

Thomas " Jesse" Clark
Thomas Jesse Clark, 70, of Clayton passed away at his home Sunday October 21, 2007 with his family at his side.
Jesse was born in Rabun County on December 13, 1936, the son of the late Thomas Lester and Norma Nichols Clark.
Jesse was employed by C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. since 1974. He also was active with the Wildcat Volunteer Fire Department and worked on many projects that improved the service for his neighbors and friends. He was a Master Mason and a member of Rabun Gap Lodge 265.
Jesse was a kind and well-respected man who gave of his time and talent to the people of the Wildcat Community by organizing church services for many years at Moccasin Creek State Park on Sunday mornings. As the song leader for thirty-five years he always led the congregation in singing I’ll Fly Away.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lee Kastner Clark of the home; one son Barry Thomas Clark and wife Kimberly of Hartwell GA; one daughter Janet Clark Holt and husband Richard of Clayton, GA; two granddaughters Abby Clark, Kimberly Holt; two grandsons Blake Clark, Justin Holt; two brothers, Dayton Clark and wife Marilyn of Carrolton, GA, Bill Clark and wife Sue of Snellville, GA; one sister, Frances Palmer of Nicholson, GA and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Tuesday October 23, 2007 at Beck Funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM Wednesday October 24, 2007 at Clayton Baptist Church with layman Doug Vermilya officiating and eulogy by Billy Browning. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Francis Keith
Robert Francis Keith died Saturday, October 20, 2007.
He was born December 30, 1936 in Gowanda, NY to Emma V. Keith. He was a former United States Marine, and worked for several years as a television producer. In 1979 he graduated from Southwest Texas State University and in 1982 received a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He was ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1983. He spent the majority of his ordained ministry in Texas, serving as the Assistant Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio and the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Braunfels. He spent time as a missionary with the Diocese of Uganda. After retirement, he moved to Tiger, GA where he served as a regional supply priest.
His joy and zest for life was shared with his many friends across the country. He loved to cook, especially on the grill, and enjoyed sharing food and fellowship with everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Portia Wimp; his two sons, Christopher R. Mathewson-Keith and wife, Michelle, of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Timothy O. Mathewson-Keith and his wife, Kaaren, of Denver, Colorado; his daughter, Pamela A. Jensen of Colorado; two stepdaughters, Kellie A. Mysinger and her husband, Paul, of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Stacey K. Pounds and her husband, Bryn, of Marlow, England; nine grandchildren – Lara, Kayla, Molly, Tara, Tyler, Casey, Amanda, Cristina and Angela; and one step grandchild, Audrey.
A memorial service was held at St. James Episcopal Church in Clayton, GA on October 23rd. An additional memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Braunfels, TX on November 8, 2007 at 11am. Memorial gifts can be made to your favorite church or charity.

Comer, GA
Barbara Taylor, 63, of Comer, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2005.
A native of Fulton, NY, she was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Ruth Coe Taylor. She was employed with Athens Regional Medical Center as a registered nurse for 25 years. She is survived by a number of cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 10:00 am at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Little officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home. Floss Darnell Sitton
Floss Darnell Sitton, 86, of Rabun Gap, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at her home on Betty’s Creek.
Floss was born December 1, 1922 in North Carolina to Brye Leman and Hulda Pauline Norton Darnell. After graduating from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School she traveled to Schenectady, New York where she worked for General Electric through the years of WWII. She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia were she worked for Bell South for 44 years. She and her husband, John were very active in the Democratic Party where they volunteered time and service. She obtained her Real Estate license in 1975 and after retiring moved back to Rabun County to work part-time with Blalock and Associates. She was of the Presbyterian faith and supported many wonderful charities with a true giving nature along with being the matriarch of her family and loved by all.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Neville John Sitton; a brother, Ross Darnell; a sister, Katherine Hyatt and an infant sister, Sarah Ann Darnell.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Brye “Bud” Darnell, Jr. and Joyce of Cumming; three sisters Joyce Thompson and husband Steve of Rabun Gap; Lillian Smith and husband Jack of Lakemont; and Jacqueline Darnell of Toccoa; four nieces Gail Smith Hopper, Cami Garner Hopper, Tina Smith Johnson and Paula Hyatt Martin; one nephew, Van Garner, Jr.; two grand nieces and two grand nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday October 24, 2009 night From 5 until 8 Pm at Beck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m. at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesleyan cemetery in Rabun Gap.
