H. Allen Rogers Sr.
H. Allen Rogers Sr., of Lutz, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 2 at his weekend residence in Steinhatchee. He was 69 years old.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Marjorie Rogers of Lutz, Fla.; one son, H. Allen (Jennifer) Rogers II of Lutz, Fla.; one daughter, Dawn Rogers of Lutz, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date in Claxton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Rick Gooding Funeral Home, U.S. Hwy. 19, Cross City, Fla. was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. C. Grady Parker
Mr. C. Grady Parker, 86, had his transition on Friday morning at his residence. Mr. Parker was born in Tattnall County on December 6, 1919 to the late Edna and Zeb Parker. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II, a retired carpenter and farmer and from the Georgia State Prison maintenance department. He was known as a handy fix it all man and was well known at the Alee Temple as the “Peanut Man.”
He was a member of the Rising Son Lodge #32 for over 50 years, VFW #7764 and the Eastern Star Martha Washington Chapter 300. He will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. He loved the Lord and was a member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Annie Pear McCumber and Beulah Driggers Howard; and brothers, Bennie, Willie and Z.V. Parker.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 65 years, Mrs. Charlotte A. Parker of Reids-ville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Libby and Neil Rogers, Brenda and Ted Tatum, all of Reidsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Ginger Parker, Wayman and Janice Parker, all of Reidsville; two sisters, Ruby P. Anderson of Reids-ville, Helen Harrelson of Pooler; grandchildren, Phyllis and David Crews, Ronald and Joy Rogers, Renee and John Howard, Suzanne and Smitty Lamb, Trevor and Melissa Tatum, Wendy and Perry Scarborough, Haley and Shawn Howard, Misty and Will Self, Jason and Avery Parker, Brandon and Natalie Parker; 15 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Reidsville United Methodist Church with the Reverends Doug Walker and Marshall Singletary officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church cemetery with Mason rites.
Pallbearers were Ronald Rogers, Brandon Parker, Trevor Tatum, David Crews, Jason Parker and John Howard.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Rising Sun Lodge #32 and VFW Post #7764.

Alexander “Ed” McCorkel
Alexander ‘Ed’ McCorkel, 85, passed away August 14 at his residence. The Bulloch County native had resided in Evans County for many years and was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific. He retired from Exxon Oil Company after 24 years service as a merchant marine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lovick McCorkel.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothea S. McCorkel of Claxton; one step-son, Dr. Robert West and wife Donna; one step-daughter, Delene Clance and husband, Dr. William Clance; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Wednesday, August 16, 6 p.m.-until at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 17, 11 a.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Ephesus Cemetery.

Lois Carolyn Hodges
Lois Carolyn Hodges, 75, passed away September 13 at Evans Memorial Hospital. Carolyn was born and raised in Evans County and attended Claxton High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Service Group Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Alee Shrine Auxiliary, Alee Shrine Auxiliary Flag Unit, Tybee Lite Shrine Auxiliary and the Bryan County Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan R. Hodges.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Melinda Hodges of Claxton; one daughter and son-in-law, Danette and Mike Patti of Hines-ville; two sisters, Kathleen “Kitty” Rogers of Savannah and Gwinell “Nell” Lanier of Pembroke; her grandchildren, Zach and Darby Hodges, Danielle Blanchette and Aaron Brant; three great-grandchildren, John-athan DeVore, Grace Hodges and Daniel Porter Hodges; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 15, 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Hutto officiating. Burial was in Bull Creek Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Shuman, Timmy Waters, Paul Phillips, Steve Lynch, Kelly Standard, and Berry Strickland.

Warren Guy Wilbanks
Warren Guy Wilbanks, 85, died Saturday, September 16. He was born January 28, 1921 in Banks County. Warren attended Banks County schools and North Georgia College. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Philippines and Japan. Warren built a beekeeping business with his father and his sons to become one of the nations leading suppliers and a worldwide shipper of package bees and queens. His business principles were hard work, honesty and turning out a quality product at a reasonable price.
He was a past-president of Wilbanks Apiaries, Inc., past-president of the American Bee Breeders Association, past-president of the Georgia Beekeepers Association, and past-president of the Southern States Beekeeping Federation.
Warren was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Claxton where he had served as chairman of the official board. He was a member of the Service Sunday School Class. Warren loved his family, his church, the outdoors, and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Vernelle Gailey Wilbanks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Janice Wilbanks of Statesboro and Reg and Alva Wilbanks of Bellville; one sister, Emily Betts of Brunswick; one granddaughter, Jessica Wilbanks of Macon; two grandsons, Patrick and Natalie Wilbanks of Statesboro and Tim and Sarah Wilbanks of Washington, Iowa; one great-grandson, Ben Wilbanks; and one great-granddaughter, Ansley Wilbanks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 19, 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Claxton with the Rev. Craig Hutto and the Rev. Mike Huling officiating. Burial was in Brewton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Wilbanks, Jerry Boling, Phil Gailey, David Womack, Jimmy Tingle, and Larry Gailey.

Randolph ‘Randy’ Beasley
Randolph ‘Randy’ Beasley, 79, of McDonough, Ga. died Wednesday, September 13. He was born in Swainsboro to the late Roy and Sally Tucker Beasley. Mr. Beasley was also preceded in death by a sister and four brothers. He served with the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Flippen United Methodist Church. Mr. Beasley had a love for flowers, fishing, football and baseball. Most important to him was his family.
Surviving are his wife, Carole Reagan Beasley of McDonough; daughters, Lisa (David) Stewart of Dacula, Lori (Steve) Burke of Cumming; sons, Glenn (Denise) Worley, of Forest Park, Doug (Terri) Worley of Sharpsburg, Patrick (Tasha) Lane of Cartersville; 14 grandchildren, Chris, Kaitlyn, Cory, Austin, Brandon, Christopher, Christi, Josh, Cody, Charley, D.J., Emily, Jack, Elise; two great-grandchildren, Tiree and Aaralyn; brothers, Wallace (Dink) Beasley of Claxton, Harold (Edna) Beasley of Claxton, Doug (Shelby) Beasley of Augusta, Al (Jackie) Beasley of Statesboro; sister, Myrtle (Hugh) Coulter of Savannah.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 16 at Flippen United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Brown, Hershel Childs, and the Rev. Patrick Lane officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.

W. Clay ‘Doughboy’ Helmuth
W. Clay (Doughboy) Helmuth, 46, died Saturday, September 16 after a long illness. He was a native of Chatham County, and lived in Midway a number of years before moving to Claxton. He did construction work before his disability. He was an avid bowler and went on several bowling tours. He was also an avid Nascar fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. Wallace Helmuth.
Surviving are his mother, Annette Driggers Helmuth of Claxton.
Visitation was September 20, 6 p.m. - until at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Chapel. Burial will be in Bull Creek Cemetery.

Neal Franklin Daniel
Neal Franklin Daniel, 79, departed this life for his heavenly home on Sunday morning, September 17. Neal was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Eleanor, for the last 52 years. He was also a loving father to his two sons, Ken and Rusty; his daughter, Jill and also to his nieces, Barbara Olson Baggott, Donna Olson and Betty Olson Osment and nephew, the late Carl A. Olson.
Neal was a native of Claxton where he was born on October 16, 1926. He was a graduate of Claxton High School and then served in the United States Air Force during World War II. Following the war, Daniel attended the University of Georgia where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Daniel moved to Augusta in 1950 where he began his career as an accountant with Georgia Pacific Corporation. In 1982 he moved to Dunwoody and continued working in Atlanta until his retirement in 1990 after more than 40 years of service with Georgia Pacific.
Daniel served as a deacon in the First Primitive Baptist Church of Augusta and was most recently a member of Intown Community Church in Atlanta.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Ruhe Daniel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Diann Daniel of Evans, Ga., Rusty and Crystal Daniel of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Charles Hooper of Alpharetta, Ga.; 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother, Herbert A. Daniel of Claxton and a sister Mary Daniel Ogletree of Cayce, S.C.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 20, 11 a.m., at Bay Branch Church in Claxton. Burial was in Bay Branch Church Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were the former co-employees at Georgia Pacific Corporation.
Pallbearers were Hub Daniel, Mike Daniel, Jim Daniel, Bill Ogletree, Bob Ogletree, Mark Barnes, Walt Harper and Michael D. Antignac.
Remembrances may be sent to Aspen’s Legacy, a Children’s Ministry Foundation, (a foundation formed in memory of his granddaughter, Aspen, who predeceased him. Alma L. Meyers
Alma L. Meyers, 88 of Chesapeake Beach, Md., formerly of Meyersdale, died September 26 at the Calvert County Nursing Center, Prince Frederick, Md. She was born March 9, 1918 in Larimer Twp., a daughter of the late William Howard and Elizabeth (Suder) Mazer.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church. She was a member of Charles E. Kelly American Legion Auxiliary, Meyersdale.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Godlewski; four brothers, Howard, Ralph, William Kenneth, and Merle; sisters, Margaret Mazer, Mary (Mazer) Long, and Ruth (Mazer) Kinsinger.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Bruce A. Meyers of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; three daughters, Joyce E. Nalley of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Lois A. Godlewski of Donora, Pa., and Cindy E. Thigpen of Claxton; three sisters, Dorothy Forman, Zona Boger, both of Meyersdale, and Edith Barmoy of Cumberland, Md.; brother Homer Mazer of State College, Pa.; grandchildren, Michael Nalley, David and Joseph Godlewski, James, Patrick, Thomas, and Julie Thigpen.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church (White Oak) with Pastor Glenn Foster officiating. iIntermentwas in White Oak Cemetery.
