Hattie Hutcheson
Hattie Hutcheson, 86, passed away Sunday, April 1 at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Treutlen County native had lived in Tattnall County most of her life. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doster Hutcheson and a grandson, Robert Brett Hutcheson.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Hutcheson of Reidsville; two grandchildren, Shea and Eddie Cleland of Baxley, Brett Hutcheson of Collins; four great grandchildren, Layne and Cody Parker of Baxley, Courtney Garmon and Levi Hutcheson, both of Reidsville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Kimbrell and the Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy Hutcheson, Rocky Hutcheson, Jimmy Hutcheson, Larry Hightower, Lonnie Hutcheson, and Jerry Hutcheson.

Thelma Simmons Foy
Thelma Simmons Foy, 72, passed away Saturday, May 26 at the Accord Nursing Center in Glenwood under the care of Community Hospice. The Tatt-nall County native had lived in Claxton all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Foy was preceded in death by her parents, I.J. and Ruth Simmons; a son, Randall Foy; a brother, Howell Simmons; two sisters, Vadnea Kicklighter and JoAnne Hatfield.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Julian Cannon of Collins, Kathy and Donnie Kuhns and Marie Foy, all of Claxton, Nancy and Joe Cartwright of Glenwood; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger and Sally Foy of Claxton, Alex Foy of Florida, Ricky Foy of Sparks; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Mathews of Gonzalez, La., Fosteen Cordon of Roy, Utah; special niece, Pam Hendrix of Claxton; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and seven great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, May 28 at the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Brannen officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Adam Foy, Richard Foy, Josh Foy, Cody Dotson, Andy Lewis and Donald Owens.

Bobby Benjamin
Bobby Benjamin, 65, died Friday, June 1 in Albany after an extended illness. He was a native of Bulloch County. He was a brick mason, construction worker and an entrepreneur in the BBQ business. He was a free mason and attended Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church in Albany.
Surviving are his wife, Rhonda Benjamin of Albany; one daughter, Barbara Benjamin of Chicago, Ill.; three stepsons, Quinton Middleton of Claxton, Merrill Brown of Albany, and Stewart Brown of Anderson of Indiana; two stepdaughters, Tonica Smith and Meredith White of Indianapolis, Ind.; five sisters, Betty Warren and Maryann (John) George of Claxton, Martha (Howard) Taylor and Doris (Charlie) Lane of Augusta and Rashashee Anderson of Savannah; four brothers, James (Janet) Benjamin and Lonnie (Joann) Benjamin of Chicago, Ill., Willie (Thelma) Hunter of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Henry Lee of Montgomery, Ala.; five granddaughters; one grandson, a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Claxton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Martha Martin Daniel
Martha Martin Daniel, age 93, of Swainsboro, died Monday, August 20 at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. Daniel was born in Evans County. She graduated from Stillmore High School, attended college in Young Harris, Ga., and was a retired clerk with the U.S. Federal Court. She was a member of the Hagan First United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, former president of the WMU and the B&PW Club and a member of the DAR. She was a volunteer of the American Red Cross and the Claxton Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. C.S. Martin and Della Mae Deloach Martin and her husband, Joe B. Daniel.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Bonnie Rose Smith, Harry Martin and Laura W. Moore, all of Kite, and John L. Martin of Swainsboro.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 22, 10 a.m. at Brewton cemetery in Hagan with Elder Lindy Webb Jr. and Jerry Brown officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hagan First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 372, Hagan, Ga. 30429.

Julian Lee Cook
Julian Lee Cook, 88, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away Monday, October 1 at Starcrest of Cartersville.
Cook was born July 9, 1919 in Vidalia, Ga. to the late John Wesley Cook and Louray Smith Cook. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, having fought in the Normandy Campaigns.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Kain Cook of Cartersville; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Terri Cook of Cartersville; and his granddaughter, Courtney Dean Cook.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hazel officiating.
Graveside servicse will be held Saturday, October 6, 2 p.m. at Cairo cemetery in Cairo, Ga.
Eddie G. Ceballos
Eddie G. Ceballos, 28, passed away Sunday, October 7 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Evans County. The Kings County, California native had lived in Evans County for the past four years. He was employed with Newmark in the quality control department and was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Ceballos of Claxton; two daughters, Alexa Moreno and Kimberly Ceballos, both of Claxton; his mother, Norma Murillo of Fresno, Calif.; four brothers, Pedro, Rocky, Bernie, and Freddie Ceballos, all of Fresno; grandmother, Carmen Ceballos of Fresno; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass was held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9 in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home with Father Mike Smith officiating. iIntermentwill be held Monday, October 15 at the Smith Mountain cemetery in Dinuba, Calif.

Elton Croft
Elton Croft, 86, passed away October 8 at his home in Evans County. The South Carolina native had resided in Evans County for most of his life. He was a retired farmer, an avid fisherman and hunter and made delicious homemade syrup. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Croft.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Minnie L. Croft of Claxton; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Otis and Shirley Huggins of Lakeland, Fla., Vernon and Vivian Croft of Claxton, and Berman and Jeanne Croft of Claxton; one daughter, Mary Evelyn Croft Cribbs of Kingsland, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his loving companion, Chip.
Visitation was Wednesday, October 10, 6 p.m. until at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 11 a.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Betty Diane Lewis
Betty Diane Lewis, 61, passed away January 17 at her residence. The North Carolina native lived most of her life in Evans County and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She retired from food services.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, David H. and Debbie Lewis.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Johnny Wilder of Statesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, David and April Lewis of Claxton; five grandchildren Kayla and Harley Wilder, Austin, Autumn and Alex Lewis and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, 2 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Smallwood. Burial was in Ephesus Church Cemetery.

Billy P. Pinckard
Billy P. Pinckard, 65, died January 18. The Buena Vista, Ga. native had resided in Evans County for most of his life. He was a member of Collins Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Lyons. He retired from Georgia Power after 37 years service. He was a Shriner and belonged to Ezel Lodge #335.
Surviving are his wife, Carole Pinckard of Claxton; one son, Jeffrey Pinckard of Claxton; two daughters, Kelley Freeman of Columbus, Ga., and Marcia Ehlers of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Jack, Mike and Tom Pinckard, all of Claxton; two sisters, Louise Staines of Fayetteville and Jenny O’Neal of Snellville; one grandson, Chason Dale Freeman; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 21, 11 a.m., at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jim Smith and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Burial was in Brewton Cemetery.

Emogene Edwards Tarver
Emogene Edwards Tarver, 96, died Saturday, January 19 at Camelia Heath and Rehabilitation Center. The Evans County native was a member of the Claxton Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William D. Tarver.
Surviving are a niece, Peggy Edwards Daniel of Claxton; nephews, Dr. A. Joseph Edwards Jr. of Savannah, Joseph Roswell Evans of Augusta, and William E. Evans; special friend, Connie Cavendar; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 21, 2 p.m. at Brewton cemetery in Hagan with Elder Jimmy Haire officiating.

Vernelle G. Wilbanks
Vernelle G. Wilbanks, 86, passed away January 22 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born, raised and educated in Banks County, Georgia. She married
Warren G.Wilbanks on December 24, 1944. They moved to Claxton in 1947. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Wilbanks Apiaries, Inc. for many years and a devoted housewife. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Claxton and a member of the Service Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren G. Wilbanks.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Janice Wilbanks of Statesboro and Reg and Alva Wilbanks of Claxton; two grandsons and their wives, Patrick and Natalie Wilbanks of Statesboro, and Dr. Timothy and Sarah Wilbanks of Washington, Iowa; one granddaughter, Jessica Wilbanks of Macon; four great-grandchildren, Ben, Barrett, Ansley and Harrison; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was Wednesday, January 23, 6-8 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services are Thursday, January 24, 2 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Brewton Cemetery.
