Mr. Isaac L. “Tinker” Skinner age 83 died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a retired farmer and also retired from Brooks Instruments. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Virginia Rushing Skinner of Hopulikit Community, two sons and daughters in law Ronald and Jane Skinner of Sylvania and Jack and Joan Skinner of Statesboro; one daughter and son in law Annette and Ted Vickery of Statesboro. Three grandchildren Teresa Robinson of Sylvania, Dawn Finch of Portal and Tim Vickery of Statesboro; four great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. James Barnes officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service
Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. C. Emory Deal
Statesboro, Georgia
Mr. C. Emory Deal, age 78, died Tuesday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. A native of Bulloch County he had lived in Savannah and Garden City before moving back to Statesboro in 1988. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after more than 42 years of service. Mr. Deal was a member of Emit Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josh and Sudie Conner Deal; a sister, Janie Boyles and his first wife, Bettie C. Deal.
Surviving are his wife, Myrle Hendrix Deal of Statesboro; two step-sons, Ricky Clifton and Kenny Clifton and one step-daughter, Marsha Baker all of Twin City, GA; one brother and sister-in-law, Josh and Charlotte Deal of Daleville, Ala.; six sisters and four brother-in-laws, Vivian and George Cooper of Lawton, Ok., Daisy and Joe Edenfield of Waynesboro, Louise Lee, Annabell Brannen, Marynelle and Jimmy Cartee, and Sue and Freddie Tucker all of Statesboro.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Tankersley, Jr. officiating assisted by Rev. Tim Huffingham.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Grace Lee Brannen Deal age 85 died Saturday under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County she was a homemaker. Mrs. Deal was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Deal and four children.
Surviving are two daughters, Dolorese Smith of Statesboro and Jean Frawley of Brooklet; five sons and daughters in law, William L. and Esther Rushing of Brooklet, Rusty and Linda Deal, Elbert and Deborah Deal all of Statesboro, Travis and Alice Deal of Metter, Richard and Fay Deal of Mountain Rest, S.C.; two brothers, Floyd Brannen of Statesboro and Pete Brannen of Brooklet; three sisters, Audi Mae Rushing and Lila Dell Freeman both of Statesboro and Evelyn Stripling of Savannah; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Scott officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Betty Hord Brown, age 71, died Friday morning at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Gastonia, N.C. native lived in Savannah for many years before moving to Stilson 30 years ago. She retired from the Hunter Army Airfield PX as Head Cashier and worked with the Bulloch County Board of Education at Stilson Elementary for 6 years. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Old Fellowship Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John M. Brown of Stilson; 2 daughters and a son in law, Linda and M.E. Brown of Dasher’s Landing and Debra Cooler of Guyton; a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Moore Jr. and Mary Ann of Guyton; 6 grandchildren, Vernon Brown, Don Brown, Shawn Moore, Marie Hartley, Lisa Cooper and Kelli Moore; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Houser of Denver N.C. and Mary Ann Head of Lincolnton, N.C.; two brothers, Charlie Hord of Denver, N.C. and Steve Hord of Lincolnton, N.C. .
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held Sunday at 3:00pm at the Old Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Reland Morgan officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs Mary Dean Hendrix Vickery, age 71, died Tuesday morning at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. Mrs. Vickery attended the Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Dan Vickery of Portal; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Glenda Vickery of Portal; a grandson, D. J. Vickery of Register; three granddaughters, Dana Danielson of South Effingham, Khrystel King of New Port News, Va. and Amanda Vickery of Savannah; a sister, Sue Finch of Portal; a brother, Eugene (Tump) Hendrix of Statesboro and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson.

Macon, Ga
Mrs. Neva Cail Quattlebaum, age 88, died Monday at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. The native of Bulloch County and traveled with her husband, Jesse Clifton Quattlebaum, during his military career. In 1973 they moved back to Statesboro, where she became involved with the Bulloch Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered there for many years. She received a Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award in 1992. She was an active member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church and involved in many activities. She was a charter member of the Morning Workers, a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Quattlebaum was a member of the Rubie Lee/ Sadie Lee Circle and the Treasure Seekers Sunday School Class and the Helping Hands.
Surviving are two sons and daughters in law; Jack C. and Diana Quattlebaum of Alpharetta, Ga., Kenneth and Polly Quattlebaum of Macon Ga. Three grandchildren, Jon and Joshua Quattlebaum of Atlanta, and Sally Quattlebaum of Macon, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret N. Kelly, age 84 died Thursday at Heritage Inn, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Atlanta native had lived most of her life in Statesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clito Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by he son, Richard Mooney, and her husband John Roy Kelly.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Maryanna and Jack Fetterly, Gloria and Charlie Joiner both of Statesboro, and Sara and Gene Bryson of Portal. Three sons and a daughter in law; Tommy Billings of Statesboro, Melvin Kelly of Vidalia, and Wayne and Barbara Kelly of Chattanooga also survive. Seventeen grandchildren; John T. Lee III, Angela and her husband Bill Dunn, Mark Lee, Karen and her husband Danny Mullen, Tommy and his wife Yvette Lee, Dave and his wife Judy Fetterly, Tommy and his wife Roxanne Billings, Richard Billings, Jimmy and his wife Gina Billings, Jennifer and her husband Justin Mahlmann, Melanie Joiner, Chrissy and her husband Robby Ambler, Alan and his wife Jenny Joiner, Marsha and husband Charles Harwill, Douglas and Chistie Kelly, Joseph Porsga, and Charles Porsga. Thirty one great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson funeral home.
