Captain Thomas Lee Moore IV
Thomas Lee Moore IV, Captain, USAF Reserve, died on April 3, 2004, as a result of a military aircraft accident in Savannah, Georgia. Originally from Statesboro, Georgia, Captain Moore was an instructor pilot flying the T-6A Texan II assigned to the 39th Flying Training Squadron at Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia. Prior to his current assignment, Captain Moore flew the C-17 from 1998 until 2002 with the 317th Airlift Squadron (Reserve) at Charleston AFB. Lee was selected for early upgrade to aircraft commander and participated in combat missions including Operations Joint Guardian, Phoenix Banner, and Southern Watch. His decorations include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Air Force Training Ribbon. Lee’s early flying experience included employment as a “crop duster” with Southern Agriculture Aviation, as well as being a fire suppressor with the Georgia Forestry Commission from 1995-1996.
Lee was born on October 2, 1971 at Fort Polk Army Base in Louisiana.
He is the son of Thomas L. Moore III and Sunni Collins Moore, of Bulloch County, Georgia. Lee grew up in Statesboro, Georgia, where he was an honor graduate of Statesboro High School in 1990. He attended Georgia Southern University, where he graduated in l994 with a degree in Logistics and Intermodal Transportation. He was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, and a 1997 graduate of the USAF Officer Training School.
Lee is survived by his wife, Amanda Burgner Moore of Valdosta, Georgia. Other family members include his parents, Thomas and Sunni Moore, one brother, Matthew Moore, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Colllins, Jr., all of Statesboro, Georgia, his paternal grandmother, Sara Lou Moore and the late T. L. Moore, Jr. of Register, Georgia.
Other survivors include his mother and father-in law, Richard and Cheri Burgner of Crozet, Virginia, two brothers-in-law, Wesley Burgner of Crozet, Virginia, and Tyler and Emily Burgner of Statesboro, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00am at the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. H. William Perry officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt Moore, Chad Hilde, Justin Hilde, Jake Hartigan, David Collins, Chris Jones, Mike Wilson, Doug Collins, Wesley Burgner and Tyler Burgner.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas F. Lanier
Statesboro, Ga
Mr. Thomas Felton Lanier, age 71, passed away March 31st at Candler Hospital of Savannah, following a brief illness. The Bulloch County native was a 1949 graduate of Brooklet High School and 1953 graduate of Georgia Teachers College (Georgia Southern University). He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Lanier was President of Southwest Georgia Production Credit Association in Americus Georgia for many years before retiring back to Statesboro in 1986. He was a member of the Leefield Baptist Church. Mr. Lanier was preceded in death by his parents, J. Felton Lanier and Leona Lanier of the Leefield Community.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Rackley Lanier of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack A. and Gerri Lanier; nieces and nephews, Patricia A. Lanier, Mike and Bonnie Lanier Rushing, Chad and Travis Rushing, all of the Leefield Community. Mr. Lanier is also survived by his aunts, Earle Lee Franklin and Bernice Lee Simmons both of Statesboro. Several cousins also survive.
Funeral services will Saturday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. James Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Garnett, Bill Williams, Charles Conner, Billy Tyson, Danny Jones and William Bland, Jr.

Dawson Lewis Roberts, 3 ½ month old infant son of Donald and Michelle Barnett Roberts of Statesboro, died Sunday at the Medical College of Georgia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Faith Roberts.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister Amy Roberts of Statesboro; two brothers, Cody and Kolby Roberts both of Statesboro and his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Bible Baptist Church with Dr. Max Alderman officiating.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Billy Frank Frawley

Mr. Billy Frank Frawley, age 68, died while fishing in the Ogeechee River. The Bulloch County native was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Frawley lived in Charleston, S.C. for 20 years before returning to Bulloch County several years ago. He was retired from the shipyard in Savannah and the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a ship fitter.
Surviving are two sons, Ricky Lee Frawley of Twin City and Bobby Frank Frawley of Brooklet; two brothers, Gary Frawley of Brooklet and Homer Frawley of Monks Corner, S.C.; three sisters, Betty Grooms of Brooklet, Shelby Bazemore of Faulkville and Gayle Collins of Metter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eliza J. McBride
Portal, Ga.
Mrs. Eliza J. McBride, age 92, died Wednesday at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Emanuel County native had lived in Bulloch County for most of her life and was the owner/operator of McBride's Dry Cleaners in Portal for over 25 years. She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in- law; Gene and Mary McBride of Twin City; one daughter Peggy McBride Bland of Statesboro. Five grandchildren; Jason and his wife April McBride; Jeff and his wife Brooke McBride; Jill M. and her husband Kirk Cavanah, Brian and his wife Elaine Bland, and Jennifer Bland. Five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. McBride will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. David Hudson and Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating.
Burial will be in Elam Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sarah Lanier McCorkel
Statesboro, Ga.
Mrs. Sarah Lanier McCorkel, age 76, died Friday at Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker; a sitter for the elderly, worked in the lunchroom at Nevils Elementary School, and was a member of the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving is her husband of 58 years Ray McCorkel of Nevils, Ga; two daughters and sons-in-law; Renae M. and Lloyd Hendley, Renda M. and Mike Hodges all of Nevils; Two sons and one daughter-in-law; Ronnie and Tammy McCorkel, and Rickey McCorkel all of Nevils. Three sisters; Sherry Thompson of Nevils, Rose Dye of Statesboro, and Patty Powell of Statesboro. One brother; Wilbur Lanier of Nevils, Ga. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild also survives.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCorkel will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder W.I. Tidwell officiating.
Burial will be in Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Alvie Leamon Williams
Bulloch County
Mr. Alvie Leamon Williams, age 69, died Sunday morning at his residence. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was the son of the late Otis Williams and Myrtle Parrish Williams Harvey. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. with nine years of service. He served in the Korean War and was an award winning marksman on the Rifle and Pistol Team while stationed at Camp LeJune, NC. Mr. Williams retired after 27 years of service as a Pipefitter with Union Camp Corp. of Savannah. He was a member of the Lawrence Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the brotherhood and was a Deacon.
Surviving are his wife Eleanor Edmunds Williams of Bulloch County; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ronald Edwin and Delores Williams of Collins, Donald Leamon and Katherine Williams of Nevils and David Perry Williams of Sandersville; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Williams Strozzo and Michael Strozzo of Jacksonville, FL.; six grandchildren, Joshua and Garron Williams, Meg, Adam and Adelaide Williams, Tori Strozzo and Ben Williams; four brothers, Elmer Williams of Jasper, FL., Gene Williams of Orange Vale, CA., Radford Harvey of Lake City, FL. and David Harvey of Jasper, Fl.
The funeral for Mr. Williams will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Lawrence Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Hodges officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Albert Hodges officiating.
