Mrs. Georgia Louvenia Adams, age 90, of Rome, GA died Thursday, October 1, 2009 in a Rome hospital.
Mrs. Adams was born in Gordon County, GA on September 10, 1919 the daughter of the late George W. Amos and Hettie L. Hall Amos. Mrs. Adams had been employed by the Celanese Corp. Anchor Rome Mills and retired from Pepperell Mill in 1983 after 24 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Adams loved gardening and enjoyed crocheting. In addition to her parents Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband James E. Adams and her brothers, Robert Amos and Roy Amos.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bama Denise and James Shores, Sr. grandchildren, Georgia S. Woods and James Shores, Jr; great-grandchildren, Britt Robert Shores, Drake Shores-Roos, Jade Wells and Morgan Wells; great-great-grandchild, Michaela Amberlynn Shores; a niece Dawn McFadden and two nephews Jeff Amos and Bob Amos also survive.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009 starting at 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family has respectfully requested that donations be made to either the Salvation Army or American Red Cross flood relief programs in memory of Mrs. Adams.

Mrs. Bertis Heath Fordham
Statesboro, Ga.
Mrs. Bertis Heath Fordham, age 89, died Saturday at the Statesboro Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Mrs Fordham was an avid gardener, loved to fish, fabulous cook, loving mother, and precious grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lester Fordham and brother J.B.Heath.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law; Shirley F. and Roy Keel, Mary F. and Bill Rucker, and Sara F. and Waldo Waters all of Statesboro. Four sons and daughters-in-law; Robert L and Jean Fordham of Statesboro, John and Janice Fordham of Portal, Von Fordham of Statesboro, and Wayne and Sissy Fordham of Millen; 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Three nieces; Gail Heath Deal, Barbara Heath Wilson and Brenda Sue Heath Motes.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fordham will be held Monday in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Jack Anderson and Rev. Tom Osborne officiating.
Burial will be in Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Kim Keel, Darrell Rucker, Bo Fordham, Keith Fordham, Travis Fordham, and Jason Fordham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Keel, Jeff Rucker, Brian Fordham, Von Fordham Jr., Shannon Fordham, and Nick Fordham.

Mr. Robbie Dean Allen
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. Robbie Dean Allen, age 74, died Thursday at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Bulloch County native had lived in Metter for 23 years before moving back to Statesboro in 1991. He worked for Starling Dairy for 17 years and City Dairy for 17 years as a distributor. He was the owner of Allen Seafood in Statesboro. Mr. Allen was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a Deacon of the First Baptist Church, and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by two children Barbara Allen and Danny Allen.
Surviving is his wife Harriet McCoy Allen of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law Denise and Timmy Sikes of Metter; One son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Cheryl Allen of Metter, Ga.; One granddaughter Lexi Allen; Two Brothers Barney Allen and Donald Allen; Four sisters Doris Bradley, Betty Sue Lowery, Willie Lee Fincher, and Linda Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. H. William Perry and Rev. Ricky Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Arthur Lee Sparks

Mr. Arthur Lee Sparks, age 82, died Thursday at his residence after a long illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a Farmer, the owner of Sparks Grocery Store for 35 years in Portal, and a rural mail carrier in Portal for 12 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of the Portal United Methodist Church where he had served as the chairman of the Board for several years, and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years Myrle Mixon Sparks of Portal; Three daughters and sons-in-law; Lynn and Bill Srickland of Richmond Hill, Ga., Ann and Jimmy Lanier of Portal, and Nan and Harold Finch of Portal, Ga.; One sister Edith Laircey of Statesboro; One brother Donald Sparks of Portal, Ga.; Seven grandchildren Jennifer Strickland of Albany Ga., Leslie Strickland of Mt. Vernon, Ga., Jason Lanier of Statesboro, Ga., Lacey Lanier of Statesboro, Ga., Mark Lanier of Portal, Ga., Nathan Finch of Montgomery Al., Mandy Finch of Charleston, S.C.; One great-grandchild Will Strickland of Albany, Ga.

Mrs. Louise Brown Hulsey
Portal, Ga.
Mrs. Louise Brown Hulsey, age 75, died Thursday afternoon at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. The Candler County native lived in Bulloch County most of her life. Mrs. Hulsey was a retired seamstress having worked with Mary Dell Styles and Carrie Classics. She was a member of the Portal Baptist Church for over 47 years, which she loved so dearly, there she was a member of the Ladies Prayer Group and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Hulsey to whom she was married
for 39 years until his death in 1985.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Marion and Terri Hulsey and Gary and LaRita Hulsey all of Statesboro and Dennis and Becky Hulsey of Brooklet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Mel Clark of Meansville and Sandra and Bo Maddox of Forsyth; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Jimmy Williams of Tallahassee, Fla. and Mary Diment of Cleveland, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at the Portal Baptist Church with Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating, assisted by Rev. Don Berry.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Portal City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Williams, Bobby Brown, Donnie Brown, G.M. Daniel, Floyd Daniel Hulsey, Lee Deloach and Max Carter and Charles Franklin Hulsey.

Carlton E. Kelly Williams
Statesboro/ Go-Bar Landing, Ga.
Mr. Carlton Eugene “Kelly” Williams, 67, died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a brief illness under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and life-long resident of Bulloch County was owner of K and K Communications. He was an employee of Statesboro Telephone Company and Bulloch Telephone Cooperative for many years before starting K and K Communications with his son in 1985. In 1987 he was appointed company president and held that position until relinquishing those duties in 1997. He continued to play an integral role in daily operations by supervising all field operations until succumbing to his illness. Mr. Kelly was a member of the Brooklet United Methodist Church and a member of the Southeast Bulloch Booster Club.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Voncile Mikell Williams of Statesboro, a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Virginia H. Williams of Statesboro, a daughter and son-in-law, Vonda and Fred Ashworth of Tullahoma, Tennessee; five grandchildren Cole, Alex, and Ryan Thomas Ashworth of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Olivia Jean Williams of Athens, Georgia; and Kelli Brooke Williams of Statesboro; two sisters, Noia Scruggs of Statesboro and Joann Brooks of Lake City, Florida; four brothers, Charles Williams of Brooklet, Jerry and Sonny Williams both of Jacksonville, Florida, and Richard Williams of Fort Myers, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Brooklet United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary Lee Donaldson Hendrix Deal

Mrs. Mary Lee Donaldson Hendrix Deal, age 94, died Monday at Statesboro Nursing Home after an extended illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. She was the longest living member of the Portal United Methodist Church, where she was active with the United Methodist Women, and a member in the Portal Historical Society.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Charles and Marilyn Hendrix of Statesboro, S.Carl and Mitzie Hendrix of Portal; one daughter and son-in-law; Charlotte H. and Walton Newton of Portal, Ga. Six grandchildren; Melissa Parrish of Bluffton, S.C., Laura Quattlebaum of Statesboro, Libba Clark of Macon, Michael Gervin of Portal, Allen Gervin of Ocean Township, N.J. and Pamela Drew of Macon, Ga. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Deal will be held Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. David Hudson officiating.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Patsy Davis Bunch

Mrs. Patsy Davis Bunch, age 53, died Friday evening at the Medical College of Georgia following a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. Mrs. Bunch was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church for many years and now attended the Believers Church in Statesboro. Patsy was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grand mother, sister and daughter. She loved caring for children and also had been a foster mother. Patsy was a mother and friend to all.
Surviving are her husband, Ezra “Buster” Bunch of Leefield; a daughter, Sheila Bunch of Leefield; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Pam Bunch of Leefield; four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Heather and Olivia all of Leefield; her parents, J.P. and Irene Davis of Leefield; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Bunch of Leefield; five sisters, Suzanne Girardeau, Janet Campbell, Karen NeSmith, Cindy Frost all of Leefield and Renee Faunce of Cartersville; a brother, Anthony Davis of Kingston; Several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services and burial will be held Monday at 11:00am at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Rev. Don Fogal officiating, assisted by Rev. Vance Riggins and Rev. Scott Moore.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
