Madelyn Martin
Madelyn Martin, age 16, died Wednesday from injuries she received in an automobile accident. The Bulloch County resident was a student and a member of the 2006 graduating class of Southeast Bulloch High School. She was a member of the Nevils United Methodist Church. Her special interest and hobby encompassed all forms of art.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers Madelyn Newman Carabaggio, and Melva NeSmith
Surviving are her parents; Tessa N. and Chuck Martin of Brooklet; one sister Sarah Martin of Brooklet, two brothers and one sister-in-law; John Martin, and Charlie and Christina Martin of Brooklet; Her maternal grandfather Eudene Nesmith of Denmark; and her paternal grandparents Deweese and Rose Marie Martin of Nevils. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Madelyn will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with Frank Harvey officiating.
Burial will be in the Nevils United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tim Martin, Dean Rigdon, Jay Foss, Jordan Martin, Ray Creasy, Wendell Creasy, David Martin, and Bryan Realiza.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 2006.

Mrs. Mary Faye Bryant
Wrighstville, Ga.
Mrs. Mary Faye Bryant, age 54, died Monday at her residence. The Bulloch County native had lived most of her life in Bulloch County before moving to Wrightsville four years ago. She was disabled and attended the Dexter Assembly Church of God. She was preceded in death be her parents; Linton and Pauline Bryant; three brothers Arnold Bryant, Ricky Bryant and Larry Bryant.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Aaron Vaughn of Kite, Ga, one son and daughter-in-law; Tommy and Carrie Mock of Register, Ga; 11 grandchildren; David Mock, Angela Vaughn, Brittany Vaughn, Amber Mock, Jessica Mock, Ben Bolen Jr., Travis Mock, Taylor Mock, Kayla Mock, Clay Mock and Brittany Aldrich; Four great grandchildren; Hannah Mock, Kaleb Mock, Madison Sims and Logan Sims; One sister and brother-in-law; Erma J. Dixon and Charles Dixon of Clito, Ga.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bryant will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Nowell and Rev. John Hanna officiating.
Burial will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Evelyn Womack
Mrs. Evelyn Rigdon Womack, age 88, died Saturday at Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years; Cecil Womack of Garfield; Three daughters and sons-in-law; Betty and Gene Arnett of Anniston Al, Peggy and Roy Norman of Atlanta, Ga, and Diane and Gerald Bowen of Hephzibah. Seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating assisted by Rev. Robert Jacobs.
The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Jerry Allen Davis
Denmark Community
Mr Jerry Allen Davis, 63, died Thursday at his residence following a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a graduate of Marvin Pittman High School. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving as a military police during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and an avid fisherman and hunter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Louise Davis of Statesboro.
Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Arthur Calhoun of Milledgeville and Jane and Crawford Hendrix of Denmark, one brother and sister-in-law, Clive 'Buddy' and Pam Davis Jr. of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at the Savannah Holy Church of God with Rev. Ryan Ralston officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Lower Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Bryan County.
Pallbearers will be Mark Duggan, James Duggan, Josh Lassiter, Chris Hendrix, Charlie Blair and Tony Davis.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Statesboro, Ga
Mrs. Rose Marie Schaffer, age 93, died Wednesday evening at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Perry County, Indiana native lived in Mt. Vernon, Ind. most of her life until moving to Statesboro in 1989. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Statesboro. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Schaffer was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Everett Schaffer.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Gerry and Don Roth of Westport, Conn. and Gayle and Jesse Gunter of Statesboro; six grandchildren, Jeanne Galvin and Roger Roth both of Weston, Conn., David Roth of Trumball, Conn., Susan Gunter of Savannah, Kathy Gunter of Jacksonville, Fl. and Jessica Gunter of Statesboro; a sister, Evelyn LeClere of Tell City, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Helen Hagedorn of Evansville, Ind and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday at the Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Debbie Jo Atkins officiating.
Burial will be in the Bellfontaine cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Inez Miller Conner
Brooklet, Ga.
Mrs. Inez Miller Conner, age 57, died Tuesday at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The native life long resident of Bulloch County was a 1965 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School and later graduated from the Statesboro School of Cosmotology. She was a hairdresser for over thirty years. She was co-owner of the Guilded Cage in Statesboro, until her retirement in 2002 due to her health. Inez was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.
Inez had a true love for life that was exemplified in her ability to bring joy to other peoples lives. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a lady whose joy was her Saviour, her family and her friends. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. To know her was to love her. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Donnie Conner of Brooklet; a daughter and son-in law, Donna Maria and Dudley Bradley, Jr. of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Shawn Ashley Conner and Jamie Conner of Brooklet; 5 grandchildren, Logan Conner Bradley, Lucy Alexis Bradley and Hannah Maria Bradley all of Statesboro and Coleman Wade Conner and Colby Lane Conner both of Brooklet; her mother, Irene Sparks of Collins Lake; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Randy McDonald of Vidalia; a brother and sister-in-law, Ivey and Elaine Miller of Brooklet; two step brothers and step sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Joni Sparks of Brooklet and Greg and Joni Sparks of Bamberg, S.C. and a stepsister, Holly Sparks of Bamberg, S.C.

Mr. George Franklin, Jr.
Mr. George Russell Franklin, Jr. age 69, died Monday evening at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Chicago, Ill. native moved to Statesboro as a small child with his parents, George Russell and Edwina Franklin. He was a 1952 graduate of Statesboro High School. Mr. Franklin attended the University of Georgia and Georgia Southern College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired security guard. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ruth Helen Fletcher, Linda and Sherwood Boyd and Judy and Brooks Nichols all of Statesboro, Milbry Ann and Bill Griner of Ayden, S.C. and Joyce and Steve Morrison of Savannah; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday at 11:30 am at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ron Andrew officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. James Robertson Brannen, Jr. (Bobby), age 75, died Saturday at Statesboro Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a retired farmer. Mr. Brannen was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife Marion Stalcup Brannen and a son, Ronald B. Brannen.
Surviving are his wife of seven years, Aliece Brannen of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Pete Hackle of Statesboro; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Robertson Brannen III (Pete) and his wife Dale and Charles Thomas Brannen and his wife Paulette all of Sylvania and David K. Brannen of Statesboro; a sister, Gladys Sullivan of Ellabell, a brother, Harold Thomas Brannen of Statesboro; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Will Griffith officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.
