Mrs. Macy Denmark

Mrs. Macy Strickland Denmark, age 79, died Friday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was the daughter of the late Willie Wade and Nettie Strickland. Mrs. Denmark was a homemaker and a member of the Tuesday Quilters. She was a member of the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church where she was active for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Clisby Denmark.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Era Cay and Johnnie Joyner of Brooklet; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jennie Wren Denmark of Swainsboro; three granddaughters, Kimberly Meeks and her husband Bennett of Pembroke, Ashley Hughes and her husband Ben of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Lauren Denmark of Statesboro; two grandsons, Robbie Joyner of Brooklet and Christopher Denmark of Swainsboro; two sisters, Audrey Hagan of Richmond Hill and Beatrice Todd of Savannah.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at The Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jack Anderson and Rev. Dan Bryant officiating.
The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Deloach, Waymon Hagan, Rudy Mesorio, Richard Smith, Lee Strickland and W.C. Strickland.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Tuesday Quilters and Dr. Harsh Bhushan and staff.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kullberg
Sylvania, Ga.
Mrs. Elizabeth Emerson Kullberg, age 80, died Monday at Syl-View Nursing Home after a short illness. The Summerville, MA native had lived in Silver Springs Maryland for many years until moving to Statesboro in 1999. She was a retired secretary with Prince George General Hospital for many years. She had been a resident of Willow Pond since moving to Statesboro.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law; Neil and Dawn Hill Kullberg of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law Donna and George Groves of Columbia Maryland; four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. James Floyd Bland Sr.
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. James Floyd Bland Sr., age 83, died Wednesday November 24, 2004 after an extended illness. Mr. Bland was a lifelong resident of Bulloch County in the Middleground Community. He was a 1941 graduate of South Georgia Teachers College High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He served in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines, in the T/5 Medical Regiment Infantry Division, 128th Battalion He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation, three Battle Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He attended the Temple Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Middleground Merritime Club. Mr. Bland was a retired farmer and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Rochel A. and Ester Donaldson Bland. His brothers, Edmond A. Bland of Statesboro and R.A. Bland of Houston, TX, His sister Lorene Parker of Screven County and one great-grandson Henry L. Durden.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years Emogene Rushing Bland of Statesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law; James Floyd Jr. and Judith C. Bland of Washington; Rochel and Frankie Bland of Statesboro; Gary and Marsha J. Bland of Newington, Ga; two daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Charles Bragg of Statesboro and Deborah and Sammy Cato of Statesboro. Nine grandchildren; Cindy Durden, Brian Bland, Connie Clark, Joey Bland,
Jennifer Bland, Holli Pryor, Melissa Sack, Wendy Cato, Wayne Bragg, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; Two sisters Mary Welch of Statesboro and Vivian Smart of Jacksonville, Fl.
Funeral services for Mr. Bland will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Carlton Hendrix and Rev. J.T. McCain officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

James Courtney Youngblood
Statesboro, Ga
Mr. James Courtney “J.C.” Youngblood died Sunday November 21, 2004 at his home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mr. Youngblood was a 1941 graduate of Statesboro High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He served in the South Pacific Theater with tours of duty that included Guadalcanal, New Guinea, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Fiji, New Hebredes and Netherland East Indies. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the American Defense Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was a Bulloch County native where he lived most of his life and was a retired Businessman and Farmer. He was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Denton Youngblood; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Julia Youngblood of Bettles, Alaska; an aunt and her husband, Eloise and Lewis Bruton of Jacksonville, Fl; an uncle and his wife Alton and Gloria Kitchings of Savannah; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a loving extended family also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry and Rev. Grady Walden officiating.
Internment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Alonzo Rodriguez, age 24, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born on April 9, 1987 in Mexico; he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcos and Bertha Guzman Rodriguez.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by daughter, Zyleigh Rae Rodriguez; sisters, Carmen Rodriguez and Elizabeth Rodriguez; brothers, Jovany Rodriguez and Marco Antonio Rodriguez and girlfriend, Brooke Rogers.
The funeral arrangements will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at eight o’clock in the evening in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Jose Duvan-Gonzales officiating.

Mr. Homer Tison Roberson, age 83, of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born on February 6, 1928 in Polk County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Munyon Roberson and Mrs. Martha Runyon Roberson.
Mr. Roberson is survived by his wife, Beth B. Roberson; daughter and son-in-law, Pam Roberson Talley and Mike; son and companion, Mike Roberson and Melanie Mills; grandson, Matt Roberson; and great- granddaughter, Kaylee Elizabeth.
Mr. Roberson is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Houston Roberson.
The funeral service for Mr. Roberson will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Dr. David Taylor officiating. iIntermentwill follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard will be conducting military rites.

Mr. Alfred Pittman

Mr. Alfred Pittman, age 90, died at Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilition Center under the care of Allied Hospice. He was of the Baptist faith and a native of Springfield Ga. He had later lived in Savannah for approximately 50 years, where he owned and operated Pittman’s Flowers and Gifts. In 1990 he and his wife moved to Statesboro to be near his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Bainbridge Pittman of Statesboro; two daughters Janice Velliadis and her spouse of Buchanan Ga, Beth and Al Morris of Glen Burnie Md, one son-in-law Ronnie Leggett of Statesboro. Four grandchildren; Rhonda and her husband Tony Sauls, Jeffrey and his wife Tanya Leggett all of Statesboro; Albert Morris of Columbia SC and Sarah Morris of Florence SC; four great grandchildren Kendall, Anslee and Maci Sauls and Cole Leggett all of Statesboro.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Pittman will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure cemetery in Savannah with Rev. Michael Holt officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. James L. Heaston, age 78, died Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah after a brief illness. The Ohio native had lived most of his life in Ohio before retiring to Florida, and then moving to Statesboro over two years ago. He was retired from General Motors where he was an Industrial Engineer for over 32 years. Mr. Heaston was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Statesboro.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years Bonnie Shanks Heaston of Statesboro; Four sons John Heaston of Jacksonville Fl, Thomas Heaston of Indianapolis In, Joseph Heaston of Napoleon Ohio and David Heaston of Archbald Ohio; one daughter Amy Heaston of Statesboro; one sister Mary Young of Bowling Green Ohio; Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Heaston will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Joan Kilian officiating.

Mrs. Reather Bryant Martin, age 78, died Thursday at her residence. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a retired seamstress. She was a very active member of the Statesboro Church of God, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, and the church choir. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was known as “Granny Martin” to her friends and church members. She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Martin and a son Ronald Thorpe.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law; Janie and Doy Lastinger of Manning SC, Pat and Nate Hirsch of Statesboro, Clotele and Warren Powell of Statesboro, and Vicki and Herman Cook of Greenwood SC; two sons and daughters-in-law; Carl and Carolyn Martin of Woodstock, Ga, Donald and Patsy Martin of Statesboro; one stepdaughter Bennie Crosby of Statesboro; 19 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Statesboro Church of God with Rev. Wayne Swanson, Rev. Phillip Murray and Rev. Anne Braswell officiating.
