Mr. Miles Frank Deal
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. Miles Frank Deal, age 82, died January 14, 2005 due to injuries suffered from a fall. The Bulloch County native and lifelong resident retired from the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service after 32 years of service; following his retirement he worked for several years at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Brooklet, Ga. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving as a military policeman in England, France, and the Philippines during World War II. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, remaining active until his death. One of his last activities was attending the Kiwanis Club meeting on the date of his accident. He maintained a perfect attendance record for 36 years. Mr. Deal was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, served as chairman of the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair for four years, and was named an outstanding Kiwanian of the Year. In 1992 the Kiwanis Club dedicated the Fair Book to Mr. Deal, and in 1996, he was honored with the George F. Hixson Fellowship Award.
Mr. Deal was an adoring and faithful husband; one of his greatest joys was spending time with his wife. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who delighted in visiting with and talking to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a wide variety of interests and a large number of friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Deal is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Akins Deal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lyn and Bob Deal of Statesboro, Susan and Bill Harris of Winter Garden Fl, and one son Miles Frank Deal, Jr. of Jacksonville FL; five grandchildren and spouses, Jay and Amy Deal of Woodstock, Ga, Amy and Chad Deal of Las Vegas NV and Kaitlin, Meg, and Will Harris of Winter Garden, FL; two great-grandchildren Dillon and Bea Deal of Woodstock, Ga and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Deal will be held Monday, January 17, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Jack Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gary Mikell, Brad Sheffield, Lemuel Deal Jr., Danny Hagan, Johnny Dotson, Steve Hein, Hal Cromley and Lynn Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro.

Mrs. Anna Rea Deloach
Gainesville, Ga.
Mrs. Anna Rea Deloach, age 90, died Tuesday evening January 11, 2005. The native of Bulloch County worked in the medical profession for many years before moving to Atlanta. Mrs. Deloach lived in Atlanta for 20 years, where she and her husband owned a daycare center. She retired from Dekalb County Government and lived in Clayton, Ga. for many years before moving to Gainesville several years ago. Mrs. Deloach was a homemaker and a member of the Hawthorne Baptist Church in Lilburn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carolyn Lee Deloach and a daughter, Delores Barton.
Surviving are two daughters, , Donna J. Shaw of Clayton, Ga. and Bobbie J. Sikes of Dacula, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Felton L. Mikell
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. Felton L. Mikell, age 82, died Sunday after a brief illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was retired as superintendent of Postal Operations at the U.S. Postal Service in Statesboro Ga. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Mikell was a past president of the Bulloch Wildlife Club and a past First District Vice President of the Georgia Wildlife Federation. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, in which he maintained a perfect attendance record of 36 years. Mr. Mikell was a past president of the Kiwanis Club, and was named Outstanding Kiwanian of the Year, he served three years as chairman of the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair, and was honored with the George F. Hixon Fellowship Award. He was a member of the Pittman Park United Methodist Church and the Henderson Sunday School Class. Mr. Mikell was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Jean Mikell.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Bob and Priscilla Mikell of Kula Hawaii, and Gary and Kim Mikell of Statesboro; one brother, Gene Mikell of Canton Ga; one granddaughter, Noelani Yatsushiro of Kahului, Hawaii; three grandsons; Sean Mikell of Honolulu Hawaii, Bob Mikell and Scott Mikell both of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral for Mr. Mikell will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Pittman Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Huling and Rev. Hollie Tapely officiating.
Burial will be in Brooklet City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Bremen Leston Lowery, age 76, died Friday morning at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Laurens County native lived in Bulloch County for the past 55 years. He was retired from the Bulloch County Correctional Institute and had most recently worked fro the Bulloch County Recycling Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Cavada Lowery, two brothers, Julian and Larson Lowery and a sister, Ella Mae Dixon.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Betty Sue Allen Lowery of Statesboro; two daughters, Wanda Lowery Adams of Statesboro and Becky Lowery Newsome of Statesboro; two sons, Dale Lowery and Randy Lowery both of Statesboro; two brothers, Harold Lowery of Leefield and Donald Lowery of Statesboro; three sisters, Catherine Hartley of Alma, Berta Carroll of Statesboro and Janelle Miller of Statesboro; grandchildren, Jerry and Jennifer Jordan, Jody and Conway Hodges, Casey Lowery, Ashley Lowery, Beth Lowery and Robbie Whisenant; eight great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00pm in the chapel of joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Jack Braswell
Retired Building Contractor
(Hawkinsville) Mr. Jack Braswell, age 92, died Thursday, January 6th at Pinewood Manor Nursing Home in Hawkinsville, following a long illness. He was a native of Bulloch County, and moved to Hawkinsville in 1992. He was a member of the Hawkinsville First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Braswell owned and operated Jack Braswell Construction Company of Statesboro, a commercial and residential building firm, for nearly 40 years.
Mr. Braswell was survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mary Braswell of Hawkinsville, a step-daughter, Maureen Stickler of Southport, Florida, 4 step-grandchildren, Kim Sweat of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Carl Beasley of Panama City, Florida, Brian Beasley of Lynn Haven, Florida, and Karen Johnson of Whiting, New Jersey. Several step-great grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survived. A widower, Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Braswell in 1971, and by his second wife, Eunice Braswell in 1988.
Funeral services for Mr. Braswell were held on Sunday, January 9th at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro with Rev. Larry Bird and Rev. Rick Hamilton officiating.
Internment was at Eastside cemetery in Statesboro.

Mr. John Andrew Conti
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. John Andrew Conti, age 59, died at his home. The Boston, Massachusetts, native had lived in Statesboro since 1988. He was retired from Cooper Industries after 20 years of service where he was an Industrial Engineer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a past Grand Knight. He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving is his wife; Ann Marie Chierus Conti of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law Regina and Johnny Ellis of Statesboro; one grandson Andrew Ellis. His extended family includes Jamie Harris and family, and many other friends in Statesboro.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Luree Brinson Fields, age 86, died Thursday evening at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. She was the oldest member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church and had served on the Board of the Bulloch County Department of Family and Children Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Fields.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jimmy Akins of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Niki Fields of Portal; six grandchildren, Mike Fields of Portal, Cindy Bennett of Stilson, Rebecca Powell of Portal, Jim Akins of Statesboro, Jason Akins of Statesboro and John Fields of Portal; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30pm at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. James Bellis officiating.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie Lois Lord Dickey, age 87, died Monday afternoon at the Silverleaf of Conyers Retirement Home. The Bulloch County native lived in Statesboro for 67 years and had lived in Conyers for the past 21 years. She was a graduate of Georgia Teachers College and retired from the Bulloch County Board of Education as a schoolteacher with 25 years of service. She was an active member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Statesboro and she attended the Rockdale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil J. Dickey.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Patricia Dickey of Eatonton; three grandchildren, David R. Dickey and Dean Dickey both of Eatonton and Denise Carlton of Bishop and two great grandchildren, Zach and Cody Carlton Dickey both of Bishop.
Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday at 11:00am at the Eastside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:45am until 10:45am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Juanita “Nita” Miller Godbee, age 93, died Saturday at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Newcastle Homemakers Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Hudson H. Godbee, her son Emory Godbee, and her brother J. Melvin Miller. Known as Brambi to her grandchildren, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law; Merle G. Anderson of Statesboro, and Carol G. and Charles Crosby of Brooklet; her sister Mary M. Bray of Statesboro; ten grandchildren: Gary Anderson, Ann G. Toth, Lisa Toole, Chip Godbee, Mark Anderson, Connie Morgan, Edwin Crosby, James Crosby, Andy Snipes and Lori Blackmon; 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
