Mrs. Claudia Eure "Mitzie" Hendrix

Mrs. Claudia Eure “Mitzie” Hendrix, age 74, died Thursday at her residence under the care of VistaCare Hospice following a long illness. The Oklahoma native lived in the Orlando, Fla. area for 40 years before moving to Portal 15 years ago. She was a retired Cosmetology Instructor and retired as a bookkeeper from Eure Brothers of Georgia. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of the Portal United Methodist Church and a life member of the Portal Heritage Society. She was a member of the Mokanna Chapter #283 Order of The Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of the Athaliah Temple #114 “Daughters of the Nile” and a 47 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Carl Hendrix of Portal; two sons, H. Allen Gervin of New Jersey and Michael S. Gervin of Portal; two grandchildren, Michael Allen Gervin of Portal and Angela Ball of Central, FL.; a brother, Mack Eure of Mocksville, NC .
Graveside services and burial will be held Saturday at 11:00am at the Eastside cemetery with Rev. David Hudson officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cecil Manning Perkins
Statesboro, Ga.
Mrs. Cecil Manning Perkins, age 64, died Wednesday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a short illness. The Wayne County native had lived in Bulloch County for many years and was retired from Georgia Southern University after 22 years of service where she served as the Assistant Registrar. During her years at Georgia Southern Mrs. Perkins responsibilities were graduation evaluations, the Commencement ceremony, Honors Day, Graduation Gala, “Who’s Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges, ” and counseling students. Mrs. Perkins received a lifetime membership to Georgia Association of College Registrar and Admission Officers (GACRAO). In November of 2004, she was honored with Georgia Southern’s highest honors, when she was selected as an Award of Merit recipient as one of the top administrators. Mrs. Perkins was a Charter Member of the University Optimist Club and attended Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Alexzandrew Lee Perkins, Jr.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law; Sabrina Perkins of Statesboro, and Andy and Chris Akins of Register; one son and daughter-in-law Drew and Tara Perkins of Greensboro, NC; three grandchildren Celee Shi Perkins, Shelby Lane Akins, and Sydney Grace Perkins.
Funeral service for Mrs. Perkins will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Andrew officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Audrey Lanier Anderson, age 88, died Wednesday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was a native and life long resident of Bulloch County. Mrs. Anderson along with her husband the late Lonnie Reginald Anderson, owned and operated Anderson Grocery in Register for 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, L.R. Anderson Jr. and wife Linda of Metter; two granddaughters, Amber Anderson of Register and Ashton Anderson of Metter; four sisters, Eubie Turner and Ollie Dixon both of Statesboro, Alva Barford of St. Simons and Cora Dyson of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, Robert Lanier of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Eckles officiating.

Mr. Donald Bolton Sr.
Rockyford, Ga.
Mr. Donald Bolton, Sr. age 59, died Friday evening at the Westwood Nursing Center in Statesboro. The Jenkins County native lived in Screven County for several years before moving to Portal in 1960 and had lived in Rockyford for the past 15 years. He retired from King Finishing Company after 10 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda Mills Bolton of Rockyford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Lynn and Mike Clayton of Rockyford and Kristy and Michael Heath of Sylvester; a son, Donald Bolton, Jr. of Brooklet; a sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Tony Miller of Statesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Lillian Bolton of Portal; six grandchildren, Jodi Bolton of Savannah, Dylan and Destiny Clayton of Rockyford, Austin and Aaron Heath of Sylvester and Trey Bolton of Brooklet; two step grandchildren, Bridgett and Lee Hendrix of Statesboro.

Mrs. Corinne V. Sorrier
Statesboro, Ga.
Mrs. Corinne Veatch Sorrier, age 89, died Friday evening at the Heritage Inn of Statesboro following a long illness. The Clarke County native was the daughter of the late Charles N. Veatch, Sr. and Glenna Lewis Veatch. Mrs. Sorrier moved to Milledgeville as a child and lived there for several years, attending Georgia State College for Women. She moved to Statesboro before World War II and was a n office assistant for Dr. John Mooney. Mrs. Sorrier moved back to Milledgeville and worked at the Bomb Plant during World War II. She worked for the Red Cross Blood Drive Program for many years. Mrs. Sorrier was a member of the Statesboro First Presbyterian Church and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Brooks Blitch Sorrier, Jr., her brothers Charles Veatch and Lewis Veatch and two sisters, Virginia Coombes and Nell Griner.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Brooks Blitch Sorrier III and Angie Skinner Sorrier of Statesboro; two grandsons, Brooks Blitch “Breck”Sorrier IV and Bryce Manuel Sorrier both of Statesboro; a brother and three sisters-in-law, Herbert and Catherine Veatch of North Carolina and Milledgeville, Catherine (Tee) Sorrier of Statesboro and Ruth Veatch of Milledgeville and two sisters, Mildred Wisenbaker of Valdosta and Dorothy Judd of North Carolina and Milledgeville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. John Bressler officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Mrs. Virginia “Tot” Lovett Lanier, age 80, died Wednesday at the Sunbridge of Statesboro under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Burke County native attended Georgia Teachers College and taught school for several years. Mrs. Lanier moved to Bulloch County in 1945 when she married
her husband, Denver Lanier. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Lanier was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portal where she served in many capacities.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Denver Lanier of Portal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Clifford Smith of Orlando, FL and Ginny and Danny Kirkland of Portal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Ann Lanier of Portal and Lannie and Monica Lanier of Garfield; nine grandchildren, Ty White and Trace White of Orlando, FL., Jason Lanier and Lacey Lanier of Portal, Mark Lanier, Chase Kirkland and Jordan Kirkland all of Portal, Joshua Lanier and Taggert Lanier both of Garfield; two brothers, Jackie Lovett of Alexander, Ga. and T.M. “Toby” Lovett of Sardis; 5 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Bobby Lee Epps

Mr. Bobby Lee Epps, age 59, died Tuesday March 8, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. The South Carolina native lived in Bulloch County for many years. He graduated from Columbia High School. He was owner and operator of Servpro of Statesboro until his retirement in 1996. In 1993 he received an Outstanding Performance Award from Servpro Headquarters. He was presently employed by Senior Care Pharmacy and East Georgia Home Health Center. He was a veteran of the Air Force National Guard and a member of the Orangeburg Elk Lodge #987. Mr. Epps attended the Statesboro First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Mae Bramlett Epps, his father, James Roy Epps and a sister, Louise Young.
Surviving are his beloved sons, Christopher K. Epps of Darien and Kevin Epps of Statesboro; a daughter, Christine Infantino of Florida; two grandsons, William Tyler Epps and Michael Infantino; two granddaughters, Arizona and Ava Epps; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald R. and Ann Epps of Orangeburg, S.C.; Richard Ray and Marie of Aiken, SC and Wade H. and Barbara Jean Epps of Columbia, SC; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Virginia and Otis Blair of Columbia, SC, Dot and Wallace Werts of Elloree, SC and Glynn Young of Chapin, SC; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Willie Cleo “Granny” Jackson, age 88, died Monday evening at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Jenkins County native lived in Bulloch County most of her life. She was a retired self employed seamstress, homemaker and an avid gardener. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Payne’s Chapel United Methodist Church and attended the Portal United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Jackson, six sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda J. and Joe Aldrich of Statesboro; a son Johnny A. Jackson of Jesup; 6 grandchildren, Debbie and Richard Hilton of Reidsville, Shelia and Keith Perkins of Statesboro, Marcia and Gregg Collins of Statesboro, Michelle Smith, Scott Jackson and Shane Jackson; 11 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Mandy Hilton of Vidalia, Robert Hilton of Reidsville, Preston Moore, Ben Perkins, Keith Collins, Tyler Collins and Brandon Collins all of Statesboro, Amber Jackson, Aaron Jackson and Tyler Jackson all of Jesup; several nieces and nephews also survive.
