Mrs. Mentoria Aaron
Mrs. Mentoria Aaron, age 88, died Sunday at Riverview Nursing Home in Savannah under the care of Hospice Savannah. The Bulloch County native had lived in Bulloch County until 1987, and she owned and operated Aaron Grocery Store for 54 years. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert G. Aaron.
Surviving are two sisters; Mrs. Roxann Hinson of Alto Ga. and Mrs. Editha Aaron of Savannah; a step daughter-in-law Frances Aaron of Portal; two step grandchildren Sue Anderson of Millen, and Camie Aaron of Portal; seven nieces and nephews including Stacy and Karen Aaron of Savannah, Kent Hinson, Kirk Hinson and Stanley Hinson of Alto Ga.
Graveside funeral services and burial for Mrs. Aaron will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Sam Bowen officiating.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Belton Baird, Stacy J. Aaron, Mike Fields, Larry Fields, Jerry Anderson, Al Clark, and Rafe Newton.

Mrs. Mary E. Meldrum
Statesboro, Ga.
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Meldrum, age 64, died Saturday at Westwood Nursing Home after a long illness. The native of Arkansas moved to Springfield two years ago before moving to Statesboro recently. She was disabled. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors are; two daughters and a son-in-law Janette and William May of Springfield, Patricia Singelton of Arkansas; two sons and daughters in law Lynne and Anne Conley of California, and Thomas and Tammy Conley of Texas; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Thomas Martin Rogers
Statesboro, Ga.
Mr. Thomas Martin Rogers, age 73, died Tuesday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a long illness. The Polk County Florida native moved to Bulloch County in 1946 and graduated from Portal High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and while stationed in England he met and married
his wife, Gwendoline. He was employed with Brooks Instruments from 1956 until his retirement in 1993.Mr. Rogers was a contract newspaper carrier with the Savannah Morning News for 37 years. He was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist and the “Top Ten Supper Club”. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Rogers and two sisters, Willie Lee Rogers and Thelma Marchant.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years Gwendoline J. Rogers of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law Rita and Warren Groover of Statesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Glenda Rogers and Tony and Michelle Rogers all of Statesboro and Brian and Ann Rogers of Swainsboro; a brother, David Rogers of Highland City, FL and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons.

Mrs. Ivla Sue Adams-McCullough
Portal, Ga.
Mrs Ivla Sue Adams-McCullough age 59, died Wednesday evening at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mrs. McCullough was a native of Letcher Kentucky and had lived in Portal for the past thirty-four years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Johnnie Marie Armstrong and her father, Herbert Adams.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-three years, Douglas McCullough of Portal, two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Armstrong and Jeanette and Teddy Gunn all of Portal; two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Angie McCullough of Metter, Dougie and Tina McCullough of Portal, eleven grandchildren; Jessica Sikes, Jeffery McCullough, Jamie Finch, Savannah Finch, Johnathon McCullough, Victoria McCullough, Sierra Gunn, Marty Friese, Tyler McCullough, Ryan McCullough and Alexis McCullough; one great-grandchild, Layla Sikes. Also surviving are her mother, Thelma Adams of Portal, six brothers, Eddie Adams, Billy Adams, Bobby Adams and Cecil Adams, all of Portal, Dave L. Adams and Donnie Adams of Leesburg, FL.; seven sisters, Lettie Sexton and Micky Bragg both of Portal, Grace McCullough, Barbara Wheeler and Christeen Dempsey, all of Florida, Nina Horton, Ray City, Georgia and Judy Lindsey of Hahira.

Mrs. Bernadette Marie Josephe Robin Morrison, age 66, died Saturday at her residence.
The Cordemais, France native had lived in Statesboro since 1982. Mrs. Morrison was Miss Nantes, France in 1957; she was an avid gardener, avid porcelain doll artist and winner of many doll making awards. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her parents Anna Cleimentine Lepeltier and George Emile Auguste Robin, and one sister Annette Bonnaudett.
Surviving is husband William Allen Morrison, Sr. of Statesboro, Ga.; two daughters Niky Williams of Evans, Ga., and Karen Barnes of Graniteville, S.C.; one son William Allen Morrison, Jr. of Evans, Ga.; five grandchildren Trebor Barnes, Ross Barnes of Augusta, Adam Scruggs of Evans, Ga., Devi Morrison and Alexis Morrison of Martinez, Ga.; one sister Georgette LeMarie; many nieces, nephews and other loved ones in France.
Funeral services for Mrs. Morrison will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Father David Stachurski officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lula Mae Skeels Roberts
Statesboro, Ga
Mrs. Lula Mae Skeels Roberts, age 84, died Thursday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The Alexander County, LA native lived in Bulloch County most of her life. Mrs. Roberts lived in Brooklet for many years before moving to Wildwood Villas in Statesboro several years ago .She worked as an airplane mechanic during World War II and was a nurse’s aide for many years. Mrs. Roberts was a pink lady with Bulloch Memorial Hospital and a senior companion for many years. She was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Emory and Pat Roberts of Brooklet and Jimmy and Sandra Roberts of Statesboro; 5 grandchildren, Dean Roberts of Statesboro, Miranda and Tony Roberts of Brooklet, James Roberts of Midway and Timmy Roberts of Metter; two step grandchildren Brian Barrs and Jeannie Walls of Newington and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Leefield Corinth Cemetery.

1939-2004
M.A. Barnes, 65, of 247 Parkway Drive died Tuesday, May 18, 2004.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Ms. Barnes was a daughter of the late Julian Price and Rheva McClure Hancock. She was a staff writer for the Athens Banner-Herald and a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty. She was an active life member of the Athens Area Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club, a member of the Coldwell Banker International Sterling Society and Diamond Society, member of the Daughters of American Revolution, the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and MENSA. M.A. was a recent recipient of the Joe Parham Trophy given by the Georgia Press Association for outstanding achievement in the Humorous Column Category. She was also honored with the prestigious Athena Award given by the Athens Grand Opera Company recognizing her tireless support of opera. She was also a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
M.A. is survived by her daughter, Julianne Webb of Cincinnati, OH; sons: Michael Barnes of Randolph, NJ and David Barnes of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Jackie Gladem of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren: Anna Barnes and Sophia Barnes.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Dr. Jon Appleton and the Rev. Mandy Brady officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will include family members as well as certain employees of Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty and the Athens Banner-Herald.

Mr. James Albert (Jay) Brannen, Jr., age 43, died Thursday in Atlanta. Mr. Brannen had been a resident of Atlanta for the past twenty years. He was a graduate of Bulloch Academy and the University of Georgia. He was the former Director of Finance and Admissions of the Ivan Allen College at Georgia Tech University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro.
Survivors include his father and mother; James Albert and Linda Bean Brannen of Jensen Beach, Fl, a brother George Brannen of Jensen Beach Fl.; two aunts Maureen Brannen of Statham, Ga. and Betty Dennis of Ft. Pierce, Fl; a great aunt Frances Waters of Statesboro, Ga. and several cousins.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, with visitation following the funeral.

Mr. Nick Woods, age 37, died Saturday at his residence. The Richmond County native had lived most of his life in Bulloch County. Mr. Woods was an Auto Mechanic and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents C.V. and Dolly Woods and three brothers.
Surviving are three brothers; Jimmy Woods of Lyons Ga, Douglas Woods of Portal, and Bobby Woods of Portal; four sisters Grace Newton of Portal, Joyce Newton of Jackson S.C., Sue Newton of Edgefield S.C., and Kitty Calhoun of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Jarriel officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Carl Mills, age 49, died Sunday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was disabled and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two sisters; Melrose Stills of Rocky Ford and Juanita Fullmore of Garfield; one brother John Mills of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Presley officiating.
Burial will be in the Finch Cemetery.
