William Curtis Smith
Services for William Curtis Smith of Riverdale were held Monday, March 7 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Jeff Lowe officiated.
Smith, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005. He was married to Dorothy Mae “Dot” Smith of Telfair County.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Denise Lyle of Fayetteville and Sandra Ellard of Alderson, W. Va.; sons, Nelson Curtis of Palmetto, Fla., and Denny Smith of Liburn; brother, Christopher Columbus Smith of Towns; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Effie Mae Snelgrove
Graveside services for Effie Mae Snelgrove of Eastman were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Sweet Home Cemetery in Chauncey.
The Rev. Kim Conley and Bobby Ryals officiated.
Snelgrove, 75, died Thursday, March 3, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Wright and Rena Martin Wright and was married to Walter Snelgrove. She was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Wright and sister, Rosa Lee Williamson.
She was a native of Dodge County and was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Linda Pritchett; son, Kenneth Snelgrove; sisters, Janelle Stubbs and Jeanette Spires; brother, Wilmer Wright; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Darline F. Taylor
Services for Darline F. Taylor of Dallas, Texas were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Sandhill Baptist Church of Scotland with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Noel Robinson officiated.
Taylor, 73, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Kindrell and Mary Liza Fletcher Sr. and was the widow of Addis C. Taylor.
Survivors include her daughter, Edwaniter Fletcher; son, Joseph Showell; sister, Pennie Fletcher of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, John Fletcher and Evan Fletcher, both of Detroit Mich., Loyd Fletcher of Alamo, and Carl Fletcher of Oakland, Calif. and one grandson, Joseph H.
Showell.

Mary Cathleen Brown
Services for Mary Cathleen Brown of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Oakgrove Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Jones and Dr. William Connell officiated.
Brown, 48, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. She was the daughter of Christine Yawn Brown and the late Ralph Lamar Brown Jr.
She was a native of Telfair County and had worked as a legal secretary and with the Bibb County Civil Defense Department. She was a member of the McRae First Baptist Church and was widely known as an award-winning published poet.
In addition to her mother, survivors are sisters, including her twin sister, Christy B. Watrous of Peachtree City, Carolyn Brown of College Park, Marilyn Brown of Tucker and Lynne B. and Mickey Harrelson of Helena; brother, Tommy Brown of McRae; nephew, Will Harrelson; and nieces, Christa Harrelson and Mallory Brown.
Active pallbearers included Phillip Rozier, Ronnie Fields, Pete McCrimmon, Hamp Harbin, J.W. Merritt and Tag Graham.

Services for Hazel Woods Gray of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Central Gym of McRae with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.

Gray, 42, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005. She was the daughter of Julia Jones Woods and the late Eugene Woods Sr.,and was married to Tommie Lee Gray.
In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include her children, Rev. Andre Pharez Scott of Douglas and Natarsha Shantrell Scott of McRae; sisters, Julia Brown and Shellie Fleming, both of McRae, Iran Jones of Griffin; brothers, Eugene Woods of Milledgeville, Kenneth Woods of Patterson, N.J., Charlie Woods and Michael Woods, both of McRae, Billy Woods of Rentz, and Marvin Woods of Alamo; godson, Justin Woods.

Memorial services for Esther March Haymons of Jacksonville, Fla. were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Haymons died January 24, 2005. She was the widow of LeRoy Haymons.

Services for Audrey R. Huff were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla. with interment at 3 p.m. in Palms Memorial Gardens in Hazlehust.

Huff, 95, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 following a brief illness. She was the widow of Earl Huff.
She was a native of Lumber City and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Fla. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was a retired registered nurse.
Survivors include her daughters, Paula Arpen and Barbara Wheeler; grandchildren, Graham A. Arpen and Audrey E. Wheeler.

Frances Lucille Smith

Frances Rebecca Griffith Taylor
Services for Frances Rebecca Griffith Taylor of McRae will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the McRae United Methodist Church with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.

Taylor, 100, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Henry R. Griffith and Ruth Stell.
She was a native of Nancy Mann County, Va. and was a life time resident of Telfair County. She was retired as secretary for the McRae United Methodist Church after 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Harriett McMillan McClung of Roanoke, Va.; son, Hugh Edgar Taylor Jr., of Winder; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lizzie Hulett Dixon
Graveside services for Lizzie Hulett Dixon of Jacksonville, Fla., were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at Vaughn Tabernacle Cemetery in Telfair County.
The Rev. Bill Weide officiated.
Dixon, 87, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. She was the daughter of the late George and Rachel Grantham Hulett and was the widow of William Thomas Walker and Wilbert Carl Dixon.
She was a native of Telfair County, former resident of Fitzgerald, and had been living in Jacksonville, Fla. for the past 25 years. She was a homemaker, a former employee of Dixie Peanut Company, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Walker of Orange Park, Fla., George Walker and Chester Walker, both of Plymouth, Fla., and Andrew “Jack” Walker of Algood, Tenn.; step-son, Forest Talmadge Walker of Longwood, Fla.; sister, Becky Black of Helena; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
