Mr. Raymond Alexander Clark Jr., age 60, died Tuesday at his residence. The North Carolina native was a graduate of Marvin Pittman High School and attended Georgia Southern University. He was a Cum Laude graduate of Georgia Southwest College and a 1990 graduate of the 163rd session of the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Captain Clark retired from the Georgia State Patrol in 2000, after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM; and a charter member of the Georgia State Troopers Association. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Reserve. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymon Clark Sr. and Mary Mitchum Clark and a brother Merle Clark.
Surviving is his wife Sandra Kaye Jennings Clark of Portal; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ray Clark III and Allison Clark of Americus and Michael Clark of Savannah, Ga.; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirlee and Edgar Deal of Statesboro; two grandchildren Layne and Shelby Clark of Americus, Ga.
Funeral services for Mr. Clark will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. H. William Perry officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Stan York, Richard Malone, Frankie Green, Richard Pylant, Keith Howard, Terry Peacock, Ted Peacock, Russell Deal.

Mr. Waldo H. Smith, age 72, died Friday February 10, 2006. The native of Bulloch County had lived for most of his life in Effingham County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Union Camp Corporation after 42 years of service. He was a member and deacon of Bloomingdale First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Deal Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Danny Davis of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Kathy Smith of Faulkville; three grandchildren, Josh Barber, Whitney and Meghan Smith; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Hailey Barber; a sister, Janie Donaldson of Savannah; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Wilbert and Sherry Smith of Meldrim, H.C. and Miriam Smith of Garfield, and Alton and Carolyn Smith of Warm Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Bloomingdale First Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Bailey and Rev. Sam Scarborough officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Statesboro.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be nephews; Jimmy Donaldson, Giovanni Smith, Robert Smith, Barry Deal, Robbie Deal, Tony Deal.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Bloomingdale First Baptist Church and members of the Men’s Adult One Sunday School Class.

William G. “Hardtimes” Harding, Sr., age 64, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004.
The son of the late Garfield and Catherine Harding of Charlottesville, VA, Mr. Harding was employed for 21 years at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Dillard Harding; son, William G. Harding, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Linda; daughter, Elizabeth R. Harding; brothers: James and David Harding; sisters: Pamela Harding and Marietta James; three grandchildren: Greg, Sean and Katie Harding; nieces; nephews; and many good friends.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein Funeral Home on Thursday, October 7, 2004 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 8, 2004 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Crist Camden officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Foster, Brett Self, Alan Parker, Adam Spence, Dean Williams, and Ron Benak.

Mr. Doyle Sapp, age 59, died Friday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a long illness. The Candler county native had lived most of his life in Bulloch and Emanuel County. He was a retired pipe fitter and a member of the Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Jeremy and Alisa Sapp of Statesboro, and Jamey Sapp of Brunswick, GA; two grandchildren Amber Sapp of Statesboro, and David Sapp of Locust Grove OK; his mother Lucile Willis of Lyons; a sister Sandra Giles of Metter, GA; two brothers Sam Sapp and J.D. Sapp of Oak Park, GA; two stepsons Jessie and A.L. Powell and three nieces and three nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. David Hudson officiating.

Mr. Mark Edward Johnson, age 40, died Thursday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a 1983 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. Mr. Johnson was employed with Walmart Distribution Center as an Operational Manager for the past eight years. He was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Adult Bible Study teacher and song leader, he was also a member of the brotherhood and the church choir. He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Johnson.
Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Lynn Gerrald Johnson of Brooklet; a daughter, Rebekah Ann Johnson of Brooklet; a son, Phillip Johnson of Brooklet; his mother, Polly Johnson of Statesboro; a brother, Alan Johnson of Statesboro; his mother in law, Barbara Gerrald of Brooklet; a brother in law and sister in law, Dennis and Jennifer Gerrald of Brooklet; nieces, nephews and many dear friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00pm at the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bill Durrence officiating.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Lila Fincher Welchel, age 82, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011. She was born on February 21, 1929 in Haralson County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis W. Fincher and Etta Newman Fincher.
Ms. Welchel is survived by daughter, Joan Welchel Leatherwood; sons, Larry Welchel, Sr. and Anthony Laverne Welchel; sister, Zadie Roland; brother, Robert Lee Fincher; and twelve grandchildren. She was also blessed with numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many other relatives.
Ms. Welchel is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ellen Deeds; brother, Erman Fincher; and two grandchildren.
The funeral service for Ms. Lila Welchel will be conducted on Monday June 13, 2011 at ten o’clock in the morning in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Hopkins officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Stedman Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 12, 2011 from seven o’clock in the evening until nine o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Keith Welchel, Sammy Welchel, Donald Welchel, Larry Welchel, Jr., Lacurtis Bentley, and Kelvin Bentley will serve as Pallbearers. Stevie Welchel will serve as an honorary Pallbearer.

William W. Nettles, 76, of 656 Pinetree Road died Monday, November 15, 2004.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Nettles was son of the late Jesse T. and Byrnyce Penny Nettles. His wife, Doris Harwell Nettles preceded him in death. He was a truck driver and a member of the Bluestone Baptist Church in Madison County.
Survivors include a daughter; Merri Anne Jenkins of Danielsville; a brother; Jesse T. Nettles, Jr. of Marco Island, FL; a grandchild; Chris Jenkins of Danielsville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2004, in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest cemetery in Mobile, AL.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nadine Parrish Turner, age 77, died Monday evening at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The Emanuel County native was a graduate of Metter High School. She moved to Bulloch County in 1947 and she and her husband owned and
operated Turner Auto Supply until there retirement in 1987. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Wanders Camping Club and the Top of Georgia Airstream Camping Club for over thirty years. She was a loved to travel and well was known for her Southern Home Cooking. She was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Albert (W.A.) Turner of Statesboro; a daughter and son in law, Pat T. and Eddie Bolton of Millen; a son and daughter in law, Don A. and Lisa Turner of Roswell; three grandchildren, Parrish and Morgan Turner of Roswell and Kim B. and Rodney Garvin of Evans; two great grandchildren, Lauren and Hayden Garvin of Evans; a sister, Beatrice Youmans of Swainsboro; a brother James R. Parrish of Hollywood, GA; several brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Randy Waters officiating assisted by Elder John Brannen Purser.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Anthony Kenneth Burton, 54, of Red Fox Run, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005.
Born in London, England, he spent his childhood in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He lived several years in Macon Georgia where he worked as a photographer for Capricorn Records. His photos appeared on album covers of artists such as the Allman Brothers and Hank Williams, Jr. After moving to Athens in the early 80’s, he became employed in the Telecommunications business.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Burton, his parents, Kenneth and Irene Burton of Houston, MO; stepchildren, Clayton Kerce of Roswell and Gena Bradfield of Lula; step grandchildren, Larry Lindsey, Wyatt Lindsey and Katherine Alexandra Kerce.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, February 5 at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Hayes officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to St. Mary’s Hospice House Fund, P.O.
