Mr. Herman Daniel (Danny) Bray

Mr. Herman Daniel (Danny) Bray, age 62, died Thursday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was employed with Brassler USA as a financial analyst. He had worked for Nash Finch and ITT Grinnell for many years. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Statesboro where he was a member of the J. Robert Smith Sunday School Class. He was active in the church’s Media Ministry. Danny was an avid GSU football fan, a past member of the Statesboro Jaycees and loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father Herman Esley Bray and his sister Terri Ann Bray.
Surviving is his wife of 30 years Ranee Anderson Bray; a daughter and son-in-law Andrew and Lisa Jenkins of Orlando, FL, a son and his fiancé Travis Daniel Bray and Jennie NeSmith of Statesboro; his mother Mary Miller Bray of Statesboro; one brother Glenn Martin Bray of Statesboro; a mother-in-law and father-in-law Myrl and Thomas Anderson of Register; a grandchild Daniel Jenkins and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Bray will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Statesboro with Dr. John Waters and Rev. Don Wheless officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be nephews and Jody Wiggins.

Mrs. Allie K. Cail
Statesboro, GA
Mrs. Allie Kennedy Cail, age 85, died at Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a secretary and a homemaker. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years. Mrs. Cail was preceded in death by her husband James Cail and a daughter Betty Jane Revell.
Surviving are a son Michael Cail of Folkston, GA; a son-in-law Ralph Revell of Statesboro; two grandsons James (Bubba) Revell and Josh Revell of Statesboro; nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Cail will be held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Barnes officiating.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. George C. Reaves
Statesboro, GA
Mr. George C. Reaves, age 75, died Thursday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The Dodge County native had lived in Bulloch County for the last 30 years. Mr. Reaves attended Georgia Tech, and was retired from Saussy Engineering after 20 years of service as a Civil Engineer. He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Chorus and a Missionary for Campers on Mission. Mr. Reaves was a member of the First Baptist Church where he sang in the Sanctuary choir. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years Betty Mullis Reaves of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law Paul and Lynn Reaves of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law Ann and Joe Hill of Statesboro, GA; a son and daughter-in-law Alan and Betsy Reaves of Sugar Hill GA; a brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Dee Reaves of Statesboro; his mother, Lorene P. Cooper of Statesboro; Six grandsons Brandon, Benjamin and Andrew, Tyler, Seth and Joseph Reaves; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Reaves will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with Dr. John Waters, Rev. Ron Andrew and Dr. Dave Parker officiating.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Dotson, Steve Cartee, Nathan Byrd, Don Whaley, Tom Cain, and Wilbur Smith.

Mrs. Dorothy Lutrelle B. Haranda

Mrs. Dorothy Lutrelle Brown Haranda, age 75, died Tuesday at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. The Tattnall County native lived in Jacksonville, FL for 40 years before retiring to Bulloch County in 1999. Mrs. Haranda retired as a secretary from Palm Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of the Bulloch County Young at Heart and the Rusty Relics. Mrs. Haranda was a volunteer with Georgia Cares, President of the Bulloch County Chapter of AARP, a member of the Statesboro Noon Lions Club, serving on the Board of Directors and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 90. She was a member of the St. Mathew’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Haranda of Statesboro; a daughter Teresa Curtis of Hagin; four sons and daughters in law, Gary and Carol Foskey of St. Augustine, FL, Benny and Jane Foskey of Lake Charles, LA; Frederick and Lisa Haranda of Houston, TX and Robbie and Tina Haranda of Statesboro, GA and three brothers, Bill Brown of Ellabell, James Brown of Statesboro and Donnie Brown of E. Dublin, GA. .Ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00am at St. Mathew’s Catholic Church.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Northside cemetery in Pembroke.
Pallbearers are nephews: Mike Brown, Julian Brown, Donald Brown, Bernie Brown, Eddie Brown and Scott Brown.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary Montine Brown, age 67, died Saturday at Henry Medical Center after a brief illness. The Michigan native had lived in Bulloch County for the 50 years. Mrs. Brown was a Homemaker.
Surviving is her husband Merritt Brown of Portal; two daughters Vivian Perkins and her fiancé Steve McCoy of Faulkville, and Karen Stewart of Portal; one son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Ronda Brown of Portal; two sisters Dorothy Osborne of Vidalia and Patricia Barnett of McDonough, GA; four grandchildren David Rolader, Casey Perkins, Summer Stewart and Augustus Brown; one great-grandchild Alyssa Rolader.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Conley officiating.
Burial will be in Brewton cemetery in Hagan, GA.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Antonette McCorkle Nevil Deloach
Statesboro, GA
Mrs. Antonette McCorkle Nevil DeLoach, Born September 8, 1916 to Cleveland (Cleve) and Omelia Anderson McCorkle of Bulloch County. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands C.M. Nevil and Felix B. DeLoach SR., Brothers Quinton and Rupert McCorkle, a sister, Christine M. Prosser, a grandson, James M. Nevil, a daughter-in-law, Linda V. Nevil, a granddaughter, Erin Mallory Shackleford, and step-grandsons, Al and Steve Newton.
Mrs.DeLoach lived most of her life in the Register area. She was a loving and faithful member of Union Baptist Church where she served as a President of the W.M.S., sang in the choir and participated in many other church activities. She was a member of the New Castle Homemakers Club and the Bulloch County Homemakers Council.
Mrs. Deloach worked several years for the Klean Korner and worked many years at Georgia Southern College in Food Services. She was well known for being a wonderful friend to all. She loved to work in the garden and to fish. She was generous and loved to share with others. She was a great cook and a good seamstress, but most of all, she was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to all of her family.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Tony M. and Lynn F. Nevil of Register, Mack and Allene Nevil of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law Ida Jane N. and Jimmy Tidwell of Tifton, GA; three step children and their spouses Leola D. and John Newton of Statesboro, Joyce D. and Kenneth Davis of Statesboro, and Felix B. and Dot Deloach of Statesboro; Seven grandchildren Marlin (Cindy) Nevil of Register, Lisa N. (Barry) Crowe of Register, Brent (Ginger) Nevil of Statesboro, Lisha N. (David) Shackelford of Register, Ricky (Susan) Nevil of Register, Beth T.(Nick) Alberson of Sycamore and Jay Tidwell of Atlanta; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. DeLoach will be held Monday at 11: 00 in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Potts, Rev. Shortie Smith and Rev. Wes Moye officiating.
Burial will be in Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Otto Robert Matousek
Otto Robert Matousek
O. Robert “Bob” Matousek passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Homestead, Florida on October 10, 1952, and recently retired from a long career in the produce business in Florida, Pennsylvania and Georgia. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Graw Matousek, and father, O. Ralph Matousek.
He received his B.A. from Florida Technological University in Orlando, FL in 1974, and graduated from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL with a Master of Science in Management degree in 1976. Mr. Matousek was an active member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and an avid bicyclist. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesboro.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Betty Browder Matousek of Statesboro, formerly of Lakeland, Florida. Other survivors include his sister, Martha M. Bruce of Durango, CO and brother, Charles F. Matousek of Enterprise, FL. Also surviving are his stepsons and their families, several nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He will be greatly missed by his beloved pets, Mr. Katz and Lulabelle.
A memorial service for Mr. Matousek will be held Saturday July 8, 2006 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with The Reverend Joan Kilian, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. A memorial reception will be held at the residence following the service.

Mrs. Sweet Polly Ann Howard

Mrs. Sweet Polly Ann Howard, age 62, died Sunday evening at her residence. The Saluda, SC native lived in Ninety Six, SC for many years, moved to Bulloch County in 1985 and then to Reidsville in 2004. She was a waitress with the Panorama Lodge in Ninety Six, SC for 25 years. Mrs. Howard was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jerry Brown; her parents, Alex and Dorothy Fain Howard; a brother, Alex Howard, Jr. and a grandchild, David Lee Dylan Brown.
Surviving are two daughters and a son in law, Sherri Heath Kelley of Reidsville and Tammy and Al Brown of Brooklet; three grandchildren, A.J. Brown of Brooklet, Waylon Brown of Macomb, Illinois and Leslie D. Kelley of Reidsville; two sisters, Lillie Nickles of Greenwood, SC and Pat Moore of Ninety Six, SC and her two beloved cats, Layla and Dontago.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Harley Funeral Home of Greenwood, SC. Visitation will one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Geneva Collins Crosby, age 74, died Friday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a long illness. The Candler County native moved to Bulloch County at the age of 20. She was a homemaker and attended the Faith Tabernacle Church in Brooklet. Mrs. Crosby was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Bell Collins and her husband, Charles Luther Crosby, Jr.
Surviving are two daughters and sons in law, Jo-Ann Bowen and Charles Williams of Brooklet and Lisa and Owen Charles Lanier of Metter; four grandchildren, Jackie Bowen of Statesboro, Jody Bowen of Brooklet, James Crosby of Metter and Cherrie Mincey and her husband Calvin of Brooklet; three great-grandchildren, Dusty Bowen, Cally Bowen and Ashley Bowen all of Brooklet; a sister, Vera Dell Allen and her husband Joe of Midway and a brother Tom Collins and his wife Ethel of Statesboro.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
