Mr. Charlie Wilson age 87, died Saturday evening at the Eagle Health and Rehabilitation in Statesboro. The native of Bulloch County lived in Savannah most of his life before returning to Brooklet in 1995. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a member of the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church. As part of his dedication and love for the city of Brooklet, Mr. Wilson cleaned every grave in the Brooklet City cemetery by doing several each day until th job was complete.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Wilson of Pooler; a son, Charles C. Wilson III of Brooklet; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ulin of Savannah, Jason Ulin of Savannah, Jessica Ulin of Mt. Vernon and Jerrod Ulin of Pooler; two sisters, Verna NeSmith of Savannah and Margie Gasper of Sarasota, FL and a great-grandchild, Courtney Ulin of Savannah. Also he is survived by a special caregiver, B.J. Scott of Brooklet.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00am at the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Bill Durrence officiating, assisted by Elder Lavon Anderson.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in Statesboro.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Myrtle Waters Williams, age 88, died Saturday afternoon at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. Mrs. Williams worked along with her husband at the Community Freezer Locker for 20 years. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church where she was a member of the Roscoe Roberts Sunday School Class. Mrs. Williams was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, James Warren Williams of Nevils; a son and daughter in law, James Williams, Jr. and Kitty of Tybee Island; two daughters and a son in law, Joyce and John Hatfield of Richmond Hill and Jackie Harvey of Columbus Ohio; six grandchildren, Wendy Douglas, Stacye Johnson, Aaron Hatfield, Clay Hatfield, Jason Harvey and Travis Harvey; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Frankie Waters of Savannah, Mary Williams of Savannah, Zenta Lee Goss of Orlando, FL, Theranell Tanner of Statesboro and Annie Mae Motes of Statesboro and a brother, Waldo Waters of Statesboro. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30pm at the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Eason officiating, assisted by Rev. Brad Blackmon.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Waters, Jason Harvey, Travis Harvey, Aaron Hatfield, Clay Hatfield and H.L. Waters.

Mr. Henry Grady Zetterower, age 80, died Wednesday February 7, 2007 at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Zetterower was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Jenkins Zetterower; a sister, Helen Harley and brother, Robert Zetterower.
Surviving are his wife of 9 years, Genelle Hendrix Zetterower of Statesboro; two sisters, Hilda Jane Havron of Augusta and Joyce Ann Zetterower of Statesboro; a step son, Bill Hendrix of Slaughters, KY.; two step daughters, Janice Hendrix Dyches of Statesboro and Sue Hendrix Starling of Statesboro; 12 step grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Conley officiating.
Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Mrs. Willa Lee Hendrix Waters Fordham

Mrs. Willa Lee Fordham, age 81, died Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 after a long illness. She was born August 4th, 1925 to the late Leonard L. and Lillie May Smith Hendrix of the Middleground Community. Mrs. Fordham retired after 25 years of service with the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Augusta. She was a member of Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church and preceded in death by a brother, Earl Hendrix.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. J. L. Fordham of Burnsville, NC; three sons. Shelton Waters of Loganville, Wayne Waters and Dennis Waters, both of Greenwood, SC, three step daughters; Barbara Green of Burnsville, NC, Lanette Messel of Douglasville, and Rachael Price of Florence, SC, a sister Roberta Neal of Millen and two brothers, J.L. Hendrix of Savannah and Wayman Hendrix of Statesboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Euphrates Albert (E.A.) Pate

Mr. Euphrates Albert (E.A.) Pate, age 80, died Friday at his residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. Mr. Pate was born in Portal, GA and graduated from Portal High School. He attended Georgia Teachers College, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from the Independent Life Insurance Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church where he was a member of the Frank Williams Bible Study Class and the Mens' Brotherhood. Mr. Pate served with the Georgia State Defense Force. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, Golden K, and the VFW. Mr. E.A. was a Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Wanderers Camping Club and on the Board of Directors of the Georgia State Square Dancing Association. He was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Lucille Pate and a brother Hershel Pate.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years Kate Kennedy Pate of Statesboro; one son and daughter-in-law Lee and Barbara Pate of Statesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Steve Dailey of Snellville, and Patricia and Glenn Torbert of Anderson SC; one sister Olene Lanier of Portal; one brother Wallace and his wife Gerrie Pate of White Plains, GA; nine grandchildren Alicia Pate Elder and her husband Justin of Forsyth, GA, Elizabeth Pate Ivey and her husband Brian of Wildwood Fl, Lauren Dailey of Snellville, GA, Sgt. John Dailey U.S. Marines, Okinawa Japan, Katie Torbert of Blacksburg, VA, and James Torbert of Anderson SC, step-grandchildren Stacey Girardeau and his wife Laura, Tracey Girardeau and his wife Krista, Kasey Malphus and her husband Richmond all of Statesboro; two great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The visitation for Mr. Pate will be held Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Randy Waters and William H. Durrence officiating.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.

Mrs. Thelma Olliff. Scarboro, age 92, died Thursday, February1, 2007 at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Candler County native lived most of her life in Bulloch County. Mrs. Scarboro was a homemaker who loved to bake and crochet. She was well known for her home made cakes and beautifully crocheted scarves and table covers. She enjoyed giving to others and was a member of Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Scarboro was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Cecil S. Scarboro, a granddaughter, Ashley Lee Scarboro, three sisters, Eloise Lamb, Mandy Lott and Mary Loise Waller, and a brother, Raymond Olliff.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Dale Madson of Statesboro, a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Joyce Scarboro of Glennville. Two sisters, Annie Laurie Reddick of Portal and Lorine Hendricks of Metter, 8 grandchildren, Stacey and his wife Lisa Scarboro of Claxton, Shad Scarboro of Wayne, PA, Heather Scarboro of Claxton, Ryan Madson of Savannah, Preston Madson of Brooklyn, NY, Houston and his wife Brandy Madson, Austin Madson and Lauren Madson all of Statesboro, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Scarboro will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Sam Bowen and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will be in the Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Norman Olliff, Daniel Riggs, Tom Armstrong, Lynn Reddick, James Lamb and Houston Madson.
Honorary pall bearers will be all law enforcement and public safety officers.

Mrs. Ruby Woods Hendrix

Mrs. Ruby Woods Hendrix, age 98, died Saturday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County worked with her husband on their family farm and owned and operated a general store in Portal for many years. She was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church and had attended the Portal Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers and the outdoors. Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon F. Hendrix and a daughter, Sue Nell Hendrix Jones.
Surviving are a daughter, Bette J. Hendrix of Portal; a son and daughter in law, John A and Teresa Hendrix of Houston TX; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Eastside cemetery with Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Thomas Hart Conder, 47, died suddenly at home early Wednesday morning. He was born in Florence, SC and had lived in Bulloch County for the past 37 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family. He was in the recycling business.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Wylie Conder of Darlington, SC and his maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. T. C. Maupin of Brooklet, Ga.
He is survived by his son, Brandon Lee Conder of Nevils, a step-daughter, Candi Carroll of Nevils, a grandson Thomas Matthew Fordham of Nevils; his parents, Henry Conder and Grace Conder; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret C. Davis and Jack D. Davis III of Statesboro and Mary Gilbert of Gainesville FL; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Forrest and Cheryl Conder of Register and Wylie and Pat Conder from Patrick, SC; one aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Garvin Lindsey of West Columbia SC; two nephews, Shaun and Jeffrey Gilbert, three nieces, Crystal and Rebecca Gilbert, and Sara Davis; and Pauline and Sammy Walden, dear lifelong friends.
Graveside funeral services for Tommy will be held Saturday, September 8th at 10:00am at the Brooklet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Mrs. Bonna Bell See, age 82, died Wednesday September 5, 2007 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. Mrs. See was born September 30, 1924 in Gypsy, West Virginia the daughter of the late Alston G. and Bessie Brumage Wilmoth. Mrs. See retired in from Civil Service Ft. Benning Ga February 1976 after 32 years service. She began her service in Washington DC in 1945 and worked in Vienna Austria, Zama Japan and Heidelberg, Germany. She was a member of the Pinehurst Baptist Church in Columbus, GA, the NARFE, chapter 219 and a former member of the ABWA Chattahoochee Chapter of which she was Woman of the Year in 1979. She has resided in Statesboro since 2003 and was known for cakes especially her wedding cake creations. She was preceded in death by her husband MSGT Edward F. See in 1967, two brothers Melvin and Morelle “Doc” See and two sisters-in-law.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law Michael E. and Joan See of Birmingham, AL, M/Sgt U.S. Marines Retired Daniel F. and Cindy See of Stafford VA; one daughter Nina R See-Quick the Executive Director of Cedar Plantation, with whom she resided; one sister Esther W. Dyer of Buckhannon West Virginia; six grandchildren Wendy, Glenda, Rickey, Jennifer, Corey and Nick; eight great-grandchildren Amanda, Nicki, Travis James, Dustin, Ryan, Courtney, Caleb, and Caitlyn.
The visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Graveside Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA.
