Mr. Vernon Wayne Brinson
Statesboro, GA
Mr. Wayne Vernon Brinson, age 50, died Saturday at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a graduate of Statesboro High School, played football for the Blue Devils, and was an avid and master fisherman.
He was employed for 35 years with Claude Howard Lumber Company where he was the Planner Mill Supervisor. Mr. Brinson was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Vernia Brinson.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years Cheryl Gradick Brinson of Statesboro; two sons and one daughter-in-law Jonathan Wayne and Kimberly Brinson of Smyrna, GA, Travis Lee Brinson stationed in Fairbanks Alaska, currently serving in Balad Air Force Base in Iraq; three sisters Iver C. Brinson of Statesboro, Dorothy Taylor of Portal, and Jaunell Esclante of Oceanside CA; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Brinson will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Hollie Tapley officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Brinson, Travis Brinson, Kenny Brinson, Johnny Brinson, Tom Brinson and Freddie Brinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and co-workers at Claude Howard Lumber Company.

Mrs. Gladys Sasser
Statesboro, GA
Mrs. Gladys Margaree Johnson Sasser, age 88, died Sunday morning in Savannah under the care of Hospice Savannah. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Emma Lou Fordham Johnson and Samuel Wright Johnson. She retired from the United States Department of Defense after 20 years of service. Gladys traveled with her husband Clarance during his military career, living in many interesting areas, Alabama, Washington, D.C., Alaska, Fort Walton Beach, FL., St Louis, MO., San Franciso, CA., Karumusel, Turkey and Athens Greece. Upon her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they returned to Statesboro where they owned and operated Woodland Mobile Estates for 30 years. Gladys moved to Savannah several years ago and has resided at The Marshes at Skidaway Island until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarance Albert Sasser; two brothers, Sam Waldo Johnson and Grady Earl Johnson and a brother in law, Earl Weston.
Gladys always had a smile and great compassion for others. She had a very special quality of making others feel important and loved. Gladys will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Surviving are a son and daughter in law, Gregory Earl and Shari Lanier Sasser of Savannah; a daughter and son in law, Janet Sasser Bazemore and Randall Bazemore of Statesboro; a grandson and his wife, Jeffery Charles and Delsie Sasser of Newport, VA.; a sister, Verna Mae Johnson Whitehead of Statesboro; two sisters in law, Lottie O. Johnson of Statesboro and Delores Weston of Detroit, MI and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm until 1:45pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
Graveside services and burial will be held Thursday at 2:00pm at the Eastside cemetery in Statesboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. George Dennis Bussell
Mr. George Dennis Bussell, age 87, of 2630 Tennille – Oconee Road in Tennille died Sunday May 11 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday May 13 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Elder Lee Price will officiate with burial in the Zeta cemetery in Tennille. Pallbearers will be Charles Gibson, Marvin Johnson, Earl Johnson, Evan Johnson, Marion Dalton, Lewis Berry, Aaron Johnson, and Johnnie Durden. Honorary group will be the McDonalds Coffee Group.
Mr. Bussell was a native and life long resident of Washington County, the son of the late Vestus Bussell and the late Lizzie Webster Bussell. He was a carpenter and worked for years for Lacy Brothers Contractors. He was of the Baptist Faith and was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the Philippines.
Survivors are his wife, Geneva Johnson Bussell of Tennille, a daughter, Dale Bussell Gibson of Statesboro, a son, Gary Bussell of Sandersville, daughter in law, Kathy Bussell of Sandersville, son in law, Walter Gibson of Statesboro, three grandchildren, Devita (Mark) Bussell Parnell, Charles Stephen Gibson and Gina Lynn Gibson, two great grandchildren, Tyler James Parnell and Julia Kathryn Parnell.

Mr. John Henry Cisson
Retired
Mr. John Henry Cisson, 68, of Statesboro, passed May 9, 2008 at his residence.
John was born in South Plainfield, NJ. Following school he started his own upholstery business, Pearl Upholstery and Sales. In 1977 he relocated his business and residence to Statesboro. He was a member of the Northern Congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. He was also a poet and enjoyed singing and studying the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Netty Cisson; and sisters, Mary Lee McMurrian, Rena Mae Sylvester, and Ella G. Armstead.
Survivors include wife of 34 years, Eunice Velma Cisson; four sons, Alfonso Shavers, John Junior Cisson, Hercules Cisson, and Timothy Cisson; four daughters, Andrea Levette Gethers, Mary Frances Cisson, Darlene Katie Cisson, and Lovel Cisson Brown; and a host of grandchildren, family, and friends.
The family will have a memorial service Sunday May 11, 2008 at 4:30 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

Mr. L.A. Dungey
Mr. L.A. Dungey, 82 of Nevils, Died May 8, 2008 at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
L.A. was born in Baxter, AK, and was raised in Flint, MI. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was assigned to Russia and Germany during World War II. Following the war he returned home where he begun assisting his father in there service stations. Afterwards he moved to Florida where he owned and operated four standard service stations and also a retail tire store. Due to health reasons he retired and moved to Nevils with his wife in 1994. L.A. was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his yard daily. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Carmen Dungey; and also a sister, Captola Hoxit.
Survivors include wife of 58 years, Dorothy E. Dungey; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Mary Briggs, Larry Dungey, John Dungey; three daughters and sons in law, Deborah and Jimmy Tomblin, Lee Ann Dungey, and Linda and Ricky Williams; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Dungey and Max Dungey, two sisters, Earnestine Robbins and Barbara Dungey.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Statesboro, GA
Mrs. Panna Y. Patel, age 61, died Monday May 5, 2008 at her residence. The India native lived in Kenya for 20 years, moved to Pennsylvania 19 years ago, before moving to Statesboro in 2000. Mrs. Patel was a homemaker, a gourmet cook and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hindu Baps Temple in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents Raman and Sumju Patel.
Surviving is one son Mital Patel; two daughters and one son-in-law Kushal Patel, and Reshma and Dr. Saraju Dalsania all of Statesboro; two grandchildren Ashley Dalsania and Veeraj Dalsania of Statesboro.
Funeral services for Mrs. Patel will be held Saturday at 12:00 in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Maharaj Kanti Pate officiating.

Mr. Jimmy Wendell Lott, Sr.
Mr. Jimmy Lott, age 56, died Saturday at Jeff Davis Hospital after a brief illness. The Chatham County native had lived most of his life in Chatham before moving to Hazelhurst in 2004. Mr. Lott was a truck driver and attended Black Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Jennie Lott.
Surviving is his wife of 22 years Merita (Sue) White Lott of Hazelhurst, GA; three daughters Tracy Elaine Cowart of Statesboro, Regina Leigh Lott of Statesboro and Rani Necole (Niki) Lott of Hazelhurst, GA; one son Jimmy (John) Wendell Lott, Jr. of Statesboro; five grandchildren Beth Lott, Cody Cowart, Andrew Lott, Blake Cooper, Maraina Cooper; a sister Teresa O’Neil of NC; a brother Dennis Lott of Savannah; and one nephew.
The visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner- Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wudie Gay Anderson
Wudie Gay Anderson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2008 surrounded by her six children and their families. She was born in Jenkins County, Georgia, but was a longtime resident of Statesboro, Georgia until she moved to Jacksonville in 1999 and resided in Cypress Village Retirement Community. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Statesboro, Georgia where she was active in Dorcas Sunday School class, the Women’s Missionary Union, and the Retirement Ministry. After moving to Florida, she was a member at Christ Episcopal Church of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She was a charter member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as well as the Ponte Vedra Beach Chapter of the DAR. She was also the past President of the Statesboro Georgia Southern Symphony Orchestra Guild. She attended Tift College, Forsyth, Georgia and graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) in Statesboro, Georgia.
She was predeceased by her husbands J.R. Gay Jr. and E.L. Anderson, Jr. She is survived by her children: Linda (Tom) Nixon, Griffin, Georgia; JoAnne (Wyman) Hunt, Jacksonville, Florida; Karen (Allen) Seals, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; The Rev. Andy (Tippy) Anderson, Huntsville, Alabama; Lisa (Stan) Cochran, Frankfurt, Kentucky; and Greg (Julie) Anderson, Statesboro, Georgia. She is also survived by a sister, Annette (Ben) Spear, Forsyth, Georgia; and two sisters-in-law, Ramona Gay, and Faye Gay. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her strong faith, love and devotion to family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Cypress Village Retirement Community, Jacksonville, on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M.

Mrs. Yvonne Fordham Burnsed
Mrs. Yvonne Fordham Burnsed, 69, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, which would have been her 51st wedding anniversary. She was a resident of the Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Bulloch County, a home maker, caterer, and also known as the “cake lady.” She enjoyed painting, crafts, and genealogy and was a co author of the Fordham book. She was an avid pianist and enjoyed playing and singing gospel hymns at all the family gatherings. She was a member of the Sewing Club, the Denmark Homemaker’s Club, Keen Age Club, Best Friend’s Club, and the Bulloch County Historical Society. Mrs. Burnsed was also a member of the Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church where she was in the Ladies’ Circle and choir. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rufus Burnsed; and parents, Wilbur P. and Jane W. Fordham.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law; Rhonda and Glynn Sims, of Ellabell; grandchildren; Jessica and her husband Trey Thompson, of Statesboro, and Tucker Sims, of Ellabell; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Jan Fordham, of Alto, GA and Clisby and Linda Fordham, of Denmark; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Dennis Hulsey, of Denmark; brother-in-law, James Burnsed, of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marion Wotherspoon

Mrs. Marion Trapnell De Loach Wotherspoon, age 91, died Monday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. The Candler County native moved to Bulloch County in 1948. In 1975 she married
George Wotherspoon, throughout their marriage they traveled extensively until his death in 2004.
Mrs. Wotherspoon retired from Brooks Instrument in 1978 following 10 years of service. She was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist church where she was a member of the Cora Williams Circle. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member emeritus of the Blue Ray Chapter 121 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank De Loach; her second husband George Wotherspoon; her son David De Loach; her sisters Mytyle McLeod, Ida Zelle Arnold; two brothers Barwick Trapnell and Eugene Trapnell.
Surviving is a daughter, Marianne Lackey of Brooklet; a son and daughter in law, Frank and Pam De Loach of Dallas, GA; three grandsons, Richard Lackey of Littleton, CO, Eric Lackey of Telluride, CO and Doug and Laura Webb of Acworth, GA; five great grandchildren and a brother, Morris Trapnell of Metter.
