Bertha Wells Watson
Services for Bertha Wells Watson of Alamo were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Scotland Cemetery.
The Rev. Randell Tarpley officiated.
Watson, 88, died Sunday, May 22, 2005 at the Telfair Regional Hospital in McRae. She was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Register and John Cannon of Wilkinson County and was married to Charles Watson of Alamo.
She had lived in Telfair and Wheeler County for most of her life, and was a housewife.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Elizabeth Cross of McRae, Thomas Wells of Helena, Minnie Hickman of Eastman, Sue Newton of Woodstock, and Robert Wells of Alamo; nine grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Gregory Eugene Woods
Services for Gregory Eugene Woods of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at Central Gym in McRae with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Winfred McCloud officiated.
Woods, 25, died Saturday, May 21, 2005. He was the son of Eugene Woods and the late Betty King Woods of Milledgeville and was married to the late Marunada Pace Woods.
In addition to his father, survivors include his daughter, Jatorri Oliver of McRae; stepson, Thomas D. Powell of McRae; sisters, Sabrina Tobler, Katrina Clark, Tonika Woods, all of McRae, and Pamela Coleman of Eastman; brother, Derrick Woods of McRae; grandmother, Julia C. Woods of McRae; seven nephews and eight nieces.

Marunada Shamekia Pace Woods
Services for Marunada Shamekia Pace Woods of McRae were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Religious Center of McRae with interment in Wilcox Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ga.
Woods, 29, died Saturday, May 21, 2005. She was the daughter of Frederick Solomon and the late Millie Ruth Pace of Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by a daughter. She was the granddaughter of the late Arthur and Lorene Solomon of McRae and the late Rev. Stonewall and Annie Ruth Pace of Jacksonville, Ga. and was married to the late Gregory Eugene Woods. In addition to her father, survivors include her son, Thomas Powell Jr.; sisters, Shataye Ferguson of Atlanta, Crystal Solomon of Alamo, Dante Solomon of Mt. Vernon, Tamara Solomon, and Dejae Solomon of Miami, Fla.; brother, Frederick Solomon Jr. of Alamo; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Samuel Lee Barnes Jr.
Graveside services for Samuel Lee Barnes Jr. of McRae were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Centilla Missionary Baptist Church.
The Elder Keith Geter officiated.
Barnes, an infant, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. He was the son of Samuel and Lee Ann Barnes of McRae.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Shakeena Hamilton of McRae; brothers, Terrell Clay of Helena and Shaquille Thomas of McRae; maternal grandparents, Gladys Hamilton of Marianna, Fla., and James (Lucinda) Edward Hamilton Sr. of McRae; paternal grandparents, John Henry Barnes Sr. of Milan and Juanita Barnes of Helena.

Mary Will Crapps
Memorial services for Mary Will Crapps of Hiawassee will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at Scotland Baptist Church, with a private interment, and a reception following in the church social hall.
Crapps, 76, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late Ward and Veda Harbin Rowland and was married to Sam Crapps of Hiawassee.
She was a native of Wheeler County and had lived most of her life in Marietta, before moving to Hiawassee in 1992. She was a member of the graduating class of 1945 McRae Helena High School.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Cindy Earnhart of Hiawassee; sons, Steve Crapps of Dallas, Texas, and David Crapps and Lee Crapps, both of Marietta; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William Ray Hartley
Graveside services for William Ray Hartley of Vidalia were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19 in the Alamo City Cemetery.
Hartley, 62, died Monday, May 16, 2005 in the Meadows Regional Hospital in Vidalia. He was the son of the late Elizabeth Pittman Hartley and Roy Hartley.
He was a native of Wheeler County and a Vietnam War Veteran.

Forrest Neil Garnes
Services for Forrest Neil Garnes of Lumber City were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at St. John Baptist Church of Lumber City with interment at Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Shwanada Jones officiated.
Garnes, 32, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005. He was the son of Peggy Garnes and the late William D. Garnes and was married to Amanda Coleman Garnes.
He was a native of Telfair County and was employed by Jason Bridges’ Logging Company.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his daughters, Marquita and MarKeai Garnes, both of Lumber City; sisters, Deborah G. Bennett of Hazlehurst, Donna G. Carter and Dyvetta G. Walker of Brunswick, Morisa G. Lampkin of Eastman, Charlotte G. Carter of Charlotte, N.C., Judy Smith, Luevonia Little, Barbara Pickett, Veronica Blue, Anita Dixon, Cassandra Pickett and Katrina Garvin; brothers, Eddie Garnes of Uvalda, Eric Smith, Randy Smith and William Smith; and grandmother, Nancy Askew Durden of Painesville, Ohio.

Tommy L. Wright
Services for Tommy L. Wright of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at the Bride Church of Jesus Christ of Helena with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Wilbur Grant officiated.
Wright, 53, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Dodge County Hospital. He was the son of Jannis Eady and was married to Dorothy N. Wright. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Turner.
A native of Telfair County, he attended the Telfair County school system and several colleges.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his sons, Darrell T. Wright and Jermil M. Wright; daughter, Tarkea (Tina) Tobler; brothers, Michael Felton Wright, Kenneth Wright, Terry A. Wright, and Jack Wright; sisters, Lynette Harris, Beverly Nzuzu, Sharon Fraley, Rose Mary West and Paulette Wright; six grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Thomas J. Allen
Services for Thomas J. Allen of Snellville were held at noon Friday, May 13 at Annistown Road Baptist Church with interment held noon Saturday, May 14 in Pine Acre Cemetery in Alamo.
Dr. Ayo Bandele and Evangelist Frank Davis officiated.
Allen, 45, died Monday, May 9, 2005. He was the son of James C. and Irene Allen of McRae and was married to Susan Joy Allen.
He was a native of Vidalia, and he grew up in McRae. He was a 1978 graduate of Telfair County High School, a Suma Cum Laude graduate of Morris-Brown College where he received a B.S. degree in physical education, and attained his masters degree in education administration from Georgia State College.
He began as a P.E. teacher and eventually became the youngest assistant principle in DeKalb’s history. Before his death, he was being considered for the county’s most outstanding citizen of the year. He was a teacher and administrator in the DeKalb County School System for 21 years and served as assistant principal at Panola Elementary School and Rock Chapel Elementary School.
He was a member of Atlanta Church of Christ and spent his life serving as a mentor for young boys at church and school. to Sue Aldrich of Alamo.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include his sons, Joshua Thomas Allen and Stephan Thomas Allen; sisters, Diann Bandele of Barnesville, and Jenerra Finklea of Palmetto, Fla.; brother, Isaiahy Allen of Surrency; mother-in-law, Juanita H. Ashe of Peteluma; and several nieces and nephews.

Ricky Dale Becham
Graveside services for Ricky Dale Becham of Macon will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Old Trinity Church Cemetery in McRae.
The Rev. Chuck Morgan will officiate.
Becham, 50, died Monday, May 16, 2005. He was the son of the late Roswell V. Becham and Jean Collins of McRae.
He was a native of McRae and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was employed by Northrop Grumman, he was a member of Mable White Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his brothers, Randy Becham, Tony Collins, both of Macon, and Terry Becham of Warner Robins.
