Dr. Walter Gross

Dr. Walter Gross, 80, of 755 Epps Bridge Parkway died Tuesday, July 20, 2004.
A native of New York, NY, Dr. Gross was a son of the late Albert and Sophia Reichner Gross. He was a retired Professor of Marketing from the University of Georgia having served from 1964 to 1984. He received his B.A. from Brooklyn College in 1944; and from the New York University he received his M.B.A. in 1948 and his Ph.D. in Marketing in 1963. He has received many, many honors and awards. He received the Fulbright Award for Senior Lectureship, Austria, 1974-1975 and was the editor of the Marketing Abstracts section of the Journal of Marketing, June 1975 to present. He authored a number of books in the field of Sales Management and Marketing. He was a member of the Congregation Children of Israel.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Geld Gross of Athens; son, Marshall J. Gross of Athens; daughters and sons-in-law: Linda Gail and Dr. Bruce Leon of Houston, TX and Arleene Sue and Miguel Estrada of Escondido, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Clare Molly Gross of Pembroke Pines, FL; and grandchildren: Joshua Stephen Gross, Leah Megan Gross and Michelle Katherine Leon.
Funeral Services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Congregation Children of Israel with Rabbi Ronald Gerson officiating. Burial will follow in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation Children of Israel, 115 Dudley Drive, Athens, GA 30606 or to the University of Georgia Art Museum.

Mrs. Dyer
Mrs. Odessa Lou Dyer, 78, of Cedartown died Wednesday, May 14, 2008.
She was born on May 19, 1929 in Cedartown, to the late George Franklin and Plassie L. Calhoun Waddle.
She was a retired nursing assistant and a member of the Friendly Baptist Church.
Family survivors include son James Harold Dyer, daughters and sons-in-law Brenda Sue and Jerry Veal, Diane and Edward DuBois, Beverly and Willie Smith and sister Betty Kutnyak. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, May 17 at 4 p.m., at the Friendly Baptist Church. Rev. R. B Hulsey, Rev. Jerome Simth and Rev. Charles Dyer officiated.
Newman Veal, Jerry Lee Veal, John L. Ross, Jody Guice and Edward DuBois served as Pallbearers.

Mrs. Young
Mrs. Barbara B. Young, 66, of 118 Ridgeside Road, Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Friday, May 9, 2008.
She was born in Anderson, S.C., the daughter of the late George W. Brown and the late Alice I. Brown. She attended Girls High School.
She graduated from Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Ga., and earned a masters degree in social work at Columbia University, New York City.
Upon graduation from Columbia she resided in Atlanta and worked in child welfare, and child development in the Atlanta area. Upon her marriage to David H. Young III, of Rockmart, she moved to Chattanooga, Tenn. and found employment as director of mental health services at Joe Johnson Mental Health Center.
Later she became the executive director of the Mental Health Association of Chattanooga. When the AIM Center, in Chattanooga, was founded, she became its program director. She retired from the AIM Center in the late 1990s.
Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, David H. Young, III.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, May 13, at 2:30 p.m., in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Burch Fanning officiating.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to the AIM Center, Post Office Box 11586, Chattanooga, Tenn. 37401 in memory of Mrs. Barbara B. Young

Mr. Shadrick
Mr. Charlie F. Shadrick, 70, of Rome, formerly of Cedartown, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009. He was born July 7, 1938, in Polk County, son of Minnie Grace Lanier Shadrick and William Walter Shadrick Sr.
Mr. Shadrick was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Dec. 2000 retiree of Lockheed Aeronautics Company.
He was a Reverend for the Congregational Holiness Church and had served as pastor in Jacksonville, Fla., Illinois, Alabama and Georgia.
He is survived by wife of 50 years, Mrs. Glenda F. Newsome Shadrick; children, Skip and Sue Shadrick, of Anniston, Ala., Van and Sandy Shadrick, of Cedartown, Glenn and Reggie Shadrick, of Orlando, Fla., and Paula Shadrick, of Anniston; sister, Sarah Virginia Sides, of Joliet, Ill. Five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, William Walter Shadrick Jr., Charles Van Shadrick.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, April 24, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Martin and Rev. George Dugger officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedartown.
The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard of Robins Air Force Base conducted military honors at the graveside.

John David Hewlett of 360 Ashton Drive died Monday, July 19, 2004.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in Oconee Hill cemetery with Bishop Mark Haverland officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the residence. A complete obituary notice will be announced later.

Mr. Tibbetts
Mr. Clint Tibbetts, 33, Carter Mountain Rd., Rockmart, died Monday, April 20, 2009.
Mr. Tibbetts was born on September 3, 1975 in Polk County, son of Richard Tibbetts and Sue Childers Campbell. He was employed by Vulcan Materials Company and was of the Baptist faith.
His wife, Lisa Waddell Tibbetts on February 7, 2009, preceded him in death.
Survivors included three sons, Austin Tibbetts, Clayton Tibbetts and Logan Tibbetts of Rockmart; a daughter, Chloe Tibbetts of Rockmart; mother and step-father, Sue Childers Campbell and Tim Campbell of Rockmart; father, Richard Tibbetts of Rockmart; a brother, Joshua Campbell and girlfriend, Krysta Jordan of Rockmart; and two sisters, Sonia Bevins and Jessica Grandados and husband Abel of Rockmart.
The funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Brother Phillip Gentry, Brother Houston Eaton and Mr. Ricky Yarbrough officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the family lot of Aragon Cemetery.

Mr. Hutcheson
Mr. Royce Golden Hutcheson, 73, 234 Old Coalson Road, Rockmart, died on April 14, 2009 at a Rome medical center.
Mr. Hutcheson was an assembly line worker for General Motors and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamby (Mescal Coalson) Hutcheson, Sr.
Surviving are sons Mr. Jeff Hutcheson of Rockmart, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Jeanette) Hutcheson of Valdosta, Mr. and Mrs. Danny (Patricia) Hutcheson of Rockmart; daughter, Miss Vickie Hutcheson of Douglasville; sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Houston Walker, Dallas and Mr. and Mrs. Fern Sasser of Waco; brothers, Mr. And Mrs. Hamby Hutcheson, Jr., Dallas, and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Hutcheson, Dallas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lovelace
Mr. Joe Lovelace, 50, of 19 Apple Barrell Way, Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, in a Rome Medical Center following a very brief illness.
Joe was born in Sylvester, on March 4, 1959. He was a graduate of Cross Keys High School in 1978 and had lived in Lawrenceville as well as Mobile, Ala., before locating to Rockmart in December of 2004. He had been an employee of Gerdau Ameristeel of Cartersville for the past four and a half years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laurie Lovelace, of Taylorsville, to whom he was married
on Dec. 22, 2005; five children: Brandon Lovelace, of Lilburn, Ashley Manning, of Yulee, Fla., Chris Jackson, of Winder, Gerald Jackson, of Lawrenceville, and Senior Airman Gary Jackson, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey; father and step-mother, Joseph and Rose Lovelace, of State Line, Miss.; brother, John Howard Lovelace, of Mobile, Ala.; step brother, Shannon Brister, of Loganville, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of the Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Miller officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Glenn
Mrs. Evelyn Morrison Glenn, 96, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in the Bayview Nursing Home in Nahunta. Mrs. Glenn was born on Sept. 30, 1912, and was a native of Anniston, Ala., and had been a resident of Brunswick for the past 12 years.
She was a former resident of Cedartown, where she was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Garden Club. She was a member of the New Life Sanctuary and the Omega Group of the Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Glenn; son, David Glenn; and granddaughter, Kay Plummer.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jean Johnson, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gerri Thompson, of Brunswick; sister, Polly Elliott, of Anniston, Ala.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held in Brunswick at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 20, 2009, in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Graveside services followed on Tuesday April 21, 2009, with in Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Bill Jones officiating. The family requests that any contributions be made to the Alzheimer Association, 3911 Hampton Ave. Brunswick, Ga. 31520.
The following men served as pallbearers: Jeffrey Newson, Shawn Thompson, Brandon Jackson, Josh Johnson, Everett Ledbetter, and Daniel Glenn. Honorary pallbearers were the Omega Group of the New Life Sanctuary.

Evelyn Whitehead Landers, 93, died Sunday, August 8, 2004.
Survivors include son-in-law, Robert Ray Henderson; sister, Frances Smith; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home.
