Mr. William Bryan Brown, age 50, of Adairsville, GA, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Brown was born in Pueblo, CO on December 23, 1960, the son of Barbara Sue Hill Culberson, and the late Bernard Max Brown.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Sue Culberson; brothers, Bernard Brown and Paul Culberson, Jr.; sisters, Marie Brookshire and Terri Smith. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the Oostanaula Methodist Church Cemetery.
The Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements for the funeral of Mr. William Bryan Brown.
WILMA WIX HUGHES
September 2, 1927 - September 10, 2009
Mrs. Wilma Wix Hughes, age 82 of Rockmart passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009.
Mrs. Hughes was born on September 2, 1927 in Paulding County, daughter of the late Lonnie Wix and the late Rose Etta Swafford Wix. She volunteered as a gray lady at the Rockmart Aragon Hospital and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hughes was a former substitute teachers aide at Goodyear Elementary School and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Fred Hughes, Sr.; and six sisters, Mrs. Ethel Burell, Mrs. Effie Robinson, Mrs. Mattie Waldrop, Mrs. Ruby Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Elsie Johnson and Mrs. Elma Head.
Survivors include three daughters, Kay Hughes and Jan Hughes both of Rockmart and Connie Hardy and husband Gene of Thomson, GA; a son, Fred “Lee” Hughes, Jr. and wife Cathie of Rockmart. Six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 13th at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Larry Ritch, Dr. Paul Camp and Dr. Bobby Perry officiating. iIntermentservices will follow in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Wayne Strickland, Steve Turner, Guy Beatty, John Layfield, Greg Caldwell, Steve Tucker and Doug Gage.

DWAYNE ANTHONY DUNN
July 23, 1965 - September 6, 2009
Mr. Dwayne Anthony Dunn, age 44 of Atlanta Hwy., Rockmart passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Mr. Dunn was born on July 23, 1965 in Cobb County, son of Wesley Dwayne Dunn and Linda Thornburg Dunn. He was self-employed in the lawn maintenance industry and was a member of the Vinings Baptist Church. Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. Charles Wesley Dunn and Mrs. Annie Lee Dunn; and maternal grandparents, Mr. Ernest Ray Thornburg and Mrs. Otie Mae Thornburg.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Harrell Dunn of Rockmart to whom he married
on May 12, 2005; parents, Wesley & Linda Dunn of Smyrna; a sister, Kelley Dunn of Roswell; two step-daughters, Michelle Vann of Rockmart and Crystal Gates and husband Andy of Milton, FL; and a step-granddaughter, Riley Gates also of Milton, FL. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Dunn will be held on Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Davis officiating and Mrs. Kim Thornburg Belfore will provide a eulogy. iIntermentservices will follow at 4:00 p.m. in the family lot of the Georgia Memorial Park cemetery of Marietta.

Kathy Worthington Alred
(Died June 23, 2011)
Mrs. Kathy Worthington Alred, age 61, of Hiram, Georgia passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
She is survived by husband, Steve Alred; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Carrie Alred, Jason and Tracy Alred; granddaughters, Sara, Brittany, Brooke, and Christy; father and step-mother, Hoyt and Sue Worthington; brother, Steve Worthington and brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Marie Worthington; step-sisters and husbands, Tina Gary Womack and Kim and Joe Norris. A number of Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Mrs. Kathy Alred is preceded in death by her mother, Sara Worthington.
In keeping with her wishes she was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, June 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at The Cedartown First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until the service hour at the church.

Ethel Nora Carpenter

Mrs. Ethel Nora Yarborough Carpenter, age 97, of the Live Oak Community, Aragon, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Polk County, on November 3, 1911, daughter of the late E. E. Yarborough and the late Pearl Gribble Yarborough. She was employed in the textile industry having worked with the Aragon and Lindale Mills. Mrs. Carpenter was the eldest member of the Live Oak Baptist Church and was the teacher of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Herbert W. Carpenter and a grandson, Mr. Brandon Floyd Deems.
Survivors include her daughter, Nellie Jo Carpenter Morgan of Aragon; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carpenter will be held in the sanctuary of the Live Oak Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8th with the Rev. Hoyt Coker officiating. iIntermentservices will follow in the family lot of the Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter will lie in state at the Live Oak Baptist Church for two hours prior to the funeral service during which time the family will receive friends.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cole Read, age 75 of Rockmart passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009.
Mrs. Read was born on January 3, 1934 in Paulding County, daughter of the late Horace Rena Coker and the late Nellie Massey Coker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Read was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Mr. Oscar Cole on December 18, 1984; and a son, Mr. Larry M. Cole on December 11, 2004.
Survivors include her husband, James Read, Jr. of Rockmart to whom she married
on April 3, 1987; a daughter, Darlene Annette Culbertson and husband Mitch of Cedartown; two sons, Danny Clayton Cole, Sr. and Barry Keith Cole and wife Kathy all of Rockmart; a step-daughter, Julie Ann King and husband Barry of Marietta; a step-son, James Larry Read of Macon; and a brother, Johnny Wayne Coker and wife Brenda of Rockmart. Eleven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Read will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 3:00 p.m. in the Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Snapp and the Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. iIntermentservices will follow in the family lot of New Prospect Church Cemetery.

Mr. Michael Brandon Pannell, age 28 of Conyers passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009.
Mr. Pannell was born on October 28, 1980 in Dekalb County, son of Cynthia “Sindy” Sieglinde Stewart Anderson and the late Charles Michael Pannell. He was employed in the heating & air industry and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Mackenzie Johnston of Conyers; mother and father, Cynthia “Sindy” Stewart Anderson and Bill Anderson of Conyers; three sisters, Angela (Pannell) Stacks and husband Donny of West Palm Beach, Florida, Katherine “Kit Kat” Anderson and Tiffany Stacks both of Conyers; two brothers, Andy Anderson and Dustin Anderson both of Conyers; maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. James Stewart of Conyers; and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Anderson of Conyers. An aunt, Tami Colston of Rome and uncles, Bill Stewart and Steven Stewart also survive.
Graveside services for Mr. Pannell will be held on Thursday morning, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in the family lot of Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Michael Patterson officiating.

Mr. Carl David Moody, age 71 of the Yorkville community passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009.
Mr. Moody was born on November 28, 1937 in Paulding County, son of the late Ernest C. Moody and the late Fannie Lou Hulsey Moody. He retired from Printpack Inc. and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Moody was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife to whom he married
on November 1, 1961, Juanita Brannon Moody of Yorkville; a daughter, Sandra Gail Moody of Yorkville; a son, David Earl Moody and wife Melissa of Hiram; two brothers, three sisters, and a grandchild, Jenna Moody.
Funeral services for Mr. Moody will be held on Monday, August 31st at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. RUTH EVA WHITE GOLDIN
September 29, 1925 - August 24, 2009
Mrs. Ruth Eva White Goldin, age 83 of Rockmart passed away on Monday, August 24, 2009.
Mrs. Goldin was born on September 25, 1925 in Rockmart, daughter of the late Roscoe “Bill” Newton White and the late Agnes Rebecca Dobbs White. She and her husband, Joel were co-owners of the J & J Drugstore. Mrs. Goldin had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart since the age of 13 and served several years as a Sunday school teacher in the primary and intermediate departments.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Joel W. Goldin, Sr. of Rockmart; two daughters, Jeannette Graves and husband Edward and Anna Goldin, all of Rockmart; a son, Joel W. Goldin, Jr. of Rome; and a sister, Rachel Jeannette White Jennings Brown of Murfreesboro, TN. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services for Mrs. Goldin will be held on Thursday afternoon, August 27th at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart with the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. A private family interment will follow in the family lot of Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Greg Thompson and the Rev. Carlton Duke officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 26th between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Ferguson, Sr. age 64 of Rockmart passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009.
Mr. Ferguson was born on January 28, 1945 in Floyd County, son of the late J. W. Ferguson and the late Semantha Cochran Ferguson. He was a retiree of Tandem Computers Inc. Mr. Ferguson served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Ferguson, Jr. of Doraville; and a sister, Jennifer “Jenny” Miller of Rockmart.
