Mr. Howard Harrell, 67, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Thomasville, Ga.
Mr. Harrell was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Grady County, Ga., to the late G.D. and Edna Martin Harrell. He was a lifetime of Grady County, residing at 2655 Hwy. 188, Ochlocknee, Ga. Mr. Harrell was a machinist with Torrington Company of Cairo, Ga. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Ochlocknee Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel, Cairo, with the Revs. Billy Majors, Denis Norman and Hugh Lee Brinkley officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Ochlocknee City Cemetery, Thomas County, Ga.
Active pallbearers were Donnie Ponder, Tony Dolan, Daryl Spence, Bruce Jesson, Rick Winters and Marvin Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Harrell, Ochlocknee; a son, Glenn Harrell, Ochlocknee; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronald Hurst Sr., Whigham, Ga.; grandchildren, Erica and Billy Jesson, Cairo, Samantha Shipman, Whigham, and Ronnie Hurst Jr., Whigham; brothers and sister-in-law, Dewylee Harrell, Cairo, and Steve and Martha Harrell, Bainbridge, Ga.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Kelly Watson Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Arch Boyd Blanton, 70, a disabled veteran, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in Bainbridge, Ga.
Mr. Blanton was born on Oct. 7, 1931, in Jackson, Ky., the son of Benton Blanton and Beulah Vesta McIntosh Blanton. He graduated from LaFayette High School Class of 1949 in Lexington, Ky. He married
Berta Frances Burton on Jan. 2, 1953, and he was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was of the Baptist faith.
Services were held at Christian Worship Center, Chattahoochee, Fla., Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Danny Sutton officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 1323 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, Ga. 39819.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory Blaton, Colby, Kansas, and Stuart Blanton, Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Roberta Yarborough, Georgetown, S.C., and Kimberly Roden, Shirley, Ark.; a sister, Norma Shaw, Whigham, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Felicia Ann Christie, 61, passed away Sept. 21, 2002, in Cairo, Ga.
Mrs. Christie was born in Glen Cove, N.Y., Aug. 7, 1941, to the late William A. and Mary Davis. She was married
to Gordon Christie Sr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Christie as a deli employee in the grocery industry.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, graveside, at Roselawn Cemetery, Tallahassee, Fla.
Survivors include sons, Gordon Christie, Glendale, Ariz., and Robert Christie, Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Bill Davis, Grand Island, Fla.; grandchildren, Daniella Christie, Cairo, and Lace Christie, Glendale; and step grandchildren, Ashley Gray and Nathan Gray, both of Glendale.

Ms. Marjorie Ann Burks Newling, 71, passed away in Brooksville, Fla., on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002.
Ms. Newling was born in Cairo, Ga., Oct. 23, 1930, to the late Wesley Homer and Prassie Ponder Burks. She served in the United States Army and was a bookkeeper.
Services for Ms. Newling were held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, graveside in Trinity Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, Ga., with the Rev. Carl Harrell officiating.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Stermer, Marysville, Calif., Diana Anderson, Vancouver, Wash., Janice Blanklidge, Largo, Fla., and Debbie Fedderman, Michigan; brothers, William Emory Burks and Wesley Burks, both of Cairo; a sister, Jessie Womble, Cairo; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Percell Shaw, 62, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Calvary, Ga., passed away Sept. 18, 2002.
Mr. Shaw was born in McCrayville, Ga., June 14, 1940, to the late Charlie Shaw and surviving Katie Shaw. He attended Decatur and Grady County schools and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Miami.

Mrs. Elaine Hayes Stallings, 58, a beautician, passed away in Cairo, Ga., Monday, Sept. 30, 2002.
Services for Mrs. Stallings were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo.
Survivors include a son and wife, Jerry and Staci Stallings, Cairo; a daughter, Daphen Stallings, Cairo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lena and Preston Cooper, Meigs, Ga., and Bobbie and Carl Schlotzhauer, Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Anza Hayes, Sylvester, Ga.; grandchildren, Levi Stallings, Nickie, Lathonia and Reese Humphreys, all of Cairo; great-grandchild, Tyler Humphreys, Cairo; and special friends, Chris Blough and Earlene Outzs. Mrs. Maye de Lois S. White, 93, of Cairo, Ga., passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Cairo.
Mrs. White was born in Hartsfield, Ga., April 13, 1909, to the late Dr. James A. and Maude Jones Summerlin. She was a longtime resident of Grady County. Mrs. White was retired from the Department of Family and Children Services and was a member of the Gardenia Garden Club and pianist for the Fellowship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Soper officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo.

Mrs. Wilcox was born in Swansea, S.C., Aug. 6, 1939, to the late Woodrow Zeigler and Ida Jeffcoat Zeigler-Smith. She was married
to Mr. Robert Wilcox. Mrs. Wilcox attended William Penn High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a customer service manager a member of the Wilson Chapel M.B. Church, Cairo and Eastern Stars, Daughters of Bathsheba and the Mother’s Board and Financial Sec.
Services were held at Wilson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo, at 1 p.m. on Sept. 26, 2002, with the Rev.
