Mrs. Margie Ann Pollock, 57, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in Cairo, Ga.
Mrs. Pollock was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Grady County, Ga., to the late Howard Lynn and Margaret Brady Womble. She was a nurse and a member of the Union Grave Baptist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Union Grove Baptist Church, Pelham, Ga., with the Rev. Colburn Hobbs and Rev. Milton Gardner officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Union Grove Cemetery, Pelham.
Active pallbearers included Roland Pollock, Denzil Chapman, Mike Newsome, Warren Humphries, Ed Green and Jeems Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were David Chambliss, Eugene Pollock, Thomas Wells, Clarence Pollock, Marvin Cameron and Denver Waters.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Lee Pollock Jr., whom she married
June 6, 1964, Cairo; sons, Gary Pollock and wife, Paige, Tifton, Ga., Scott Pollock and wife, Melissa, Sherwood, Ariz. and Pat Pollock and wife, Laura, Forsyth, Ga.; grandchildren, Aubree Pollock, Tifton, Matthew Pollock, Sherwood, Ariz., and Allie and Brett Pollock, both of Forsyth; sisters, Betty Hawthorne, Gordon, Ga., Jackie Clark, Cairo, and Shirley Davis, Cairo; and a host of friends and family. Mrs. Pollock was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Samantha Ann Pollock.

Mrs. Ruby Thompson Powell, 82, passed away at her place of residence on Thursday, April 1, 2004.
Mrs. Powell was born in Brooks County, Ga., Aug. 19, 1922, to the late John and Florence Abbott Thompson. She was married
to Luke Powell on Sept. 6, 1940. Mr. Powell preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1996. Mrs. Powell lived in Grady County for the past 15 years. She was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 5, 2004, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, with the Rev. Carl Harrell and Rev. Wayne Burdeshaw officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Monticello, Fla., April 5, at 3 p.m.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Travis Baggett, Jason Powell, Todd Powell, John Barber, Richard Smith and Hal Fletcher.
Honorary pallbearers included Wallace Cox, Steve Cox, Virgil Harper, Jimmy Ausburn and the Keenagers of Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and sons-in-law, Johnette Baggett, Cairo, Barbara Miller, Monticello, Sara and Karl Fiebe, Naples, Fla., and Stephen Poklemba, Naples; sons and daughters-in-law, James Richard and Linda Powell, Ft. Myers, Fla. and Rev. Carl and Carolyn Powell, Sopchoppy, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband and sons-in-law, Gerald Miller and Lloyd Baggett.

Infant Skylar Madison Powell, born April 2, 2004, daughter of Dennis Jason Powell and Angel Michelle McCormick, Thomasville, Ga., passed away Friday, April 2, 2004, at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville.
Services for Skylar Madison were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2004, graveside at Pine Hill Cemetery, Cairo, Ga., with the Rev. Earnest Raley and Rev. Allen Tillman officiating.
Survivors include her parents; sisters, Taylor Collins, Desiree Powell and Courtney Powell, all of Thomasville; maternal grandparents, Frances and Daniel Collins, Cairo; paternal grandparents, Mary Faye and Dennis Jackson Powell, Thomasville; great-grandparents, Clair W. Porch and Lula Mae Sanderson. Skylar Madison was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Delton and Etta Mae Powell, Violet Porch, Robert and Ethel Collins and W.W. Sanderson.

Mrs. Maggie Benton, 87, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away May 16, 2004 at Memorial Hospital, Bainbridge.
Mrs. Benton was born July 16, 1916, in Thomas County, Ga., to the late Mack Montgomery Bass and Ethel Parramore Bass. She moved to Decatur County in 1950. Mrs. Benton was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. She was married
to Joseph Benton who preceded her in death.
Services were held Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Joe Miller and Mike Phillips officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Bainbridge.

Mrs. Shirley L. Daugherty, 57, a dedicated homemaker and restaurant manager for the F&T, Oaks, Shell Point, St. Marks and others, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2004, at Wakulla Station, Fla.
Mrs. Daugherty was born in Decatur County, Ga., and was a resident of Crawfordville, Fla., for 24 years. She was a member of Wakulla Station United Methodist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 25, 2004, at Wakulla United Methodist Church, Wakulla Station, Fla., with burial following at Woodland Cemetery, Havana, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Garland “JR” Daugherty, Wakulla Station; two sons, Gary W. Barrett and wife, Theresa, Cairo, Ga., and William “Red” Mobley and wife, Lisa, Wakulla Station; a stepson, Tony Daugherty and wife, Sheila, Crawfordville, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Mary Rutten and husband, Phil, Havana, Hazel Litzinger and husband, Rick, Augusta, Ky. and Samantha Thorton and husband, Oz, Augusta, Ky.; two brothers, Buddy Barrett and wife, Diane, Cairo and Gene Barrett and wife, Teresa, Pasadena, Texas; a sister, Ann Walsh, Havana; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Daugherty was preceded in death by a grandson, John Barrett.

HORACE DREW

Mr. Horace Edward Drew, 88, of Miami, Fla., passed away May 7, 2004.
Horace was the youngest of 11 children born to Lee and Leola Drew in Cairo, Ga. He first came to Miami in 1939 before joining the Navy. During World War II he served in France as a deep sea salvage diver. After the war, Horace married
Barbara Marjerison and they settled in Miami. He started his own business, Atomic Sewage Plant, which they both ran for 45 years. His work was his life. Horace was very active in Kiwanis for 47 years, serving as president of the Southwest Miami Kiwanis Club in 1991. He also was director of the Hank Kline Boys Club for many years.
Horace is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara, and his three children, Sandra and Pat Dillon of Mystic, Conn., Nancy and Fred Roos of Beverly Hills, Calif., and Edward and Lynda Drew of Miami; three grandsons, Greg Dillon, Joe Drew and Alexander Roos; two great-grandsons, Drew and Joshua Dillon; and one sister, Tyna Kinney of Phenix City, Ala.
Donations in Horace’s memory may be made to The East Ridge Village Health Center, 19301 S.W. 87 Ave., Miami, Fla. 33157.
Memorial services were held in Miami.

Mrs. Denise Ann Harless, 52, passed away at Pinewood Nursing Home, Whigham, Ga., on Saturday, May 22, 2004.
Mrs. Harless was born in Charleston, W. Va., May 22, 1952 to the late Howard and Delphia Young Layne. She was a retired clerk and a member of the Briar Creek Baptist Church, Alum Creek, W. Va.
Services will be held in Charleston, W. Va., with burial at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albams, W.Va.
Survivors include daughters, Lindsay Flowers, Whigham and Rebecca Boggess, Charleston, W.Va.; brothers, Hershell Layne and Johnny Layne, both of Charleston; and a sister, Wilma Halstead, Browns Creek, W. Va.

Mr. Tommy Wayne Sadler Jr., 41, passed away at his place of residence, 530 Loblolly Lane, Cairo, Ga., on Sunday, May 23, 2004.
Mr. Sadler was born in Gadsden County, Fla., March 13, 1963, to Tommy Wayne Sadler of Quincy, Fla., and Celia Peters Fain of Thomasville, Ga.
Services for Mr. Sadler were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the residence of his aunt, Mary Catherine Hawthorne, 156 1st Avenue, Calvary, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jean Sadler, Cairo; a daughter, Carissa Brooke Sadler, Cairo; father and stepmother, Tommy and Nancy Sadler, Qunicy, mother and stepfather, Celia and William Carl Fain, Thomasville; and brother, Johnny Martin Sadler, Thomasville and Robert Merlin Sadler, Quincy.

Mrs. Fannie Davis Tinsley, 96 of 294 Tinsley Lane, Pelham, Ga., passed away May 19, 2004, at Mitchell County Hospital.
Mrs. Tinsley was born July 26, 1907, in Meigs, Ga., to the late Jonah Beal Davis and Pashi Palmer. She was married
to Leon R. Tinsley Sr., on May 14, 1933. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Tinsley was a daughter of a Confederate soldier in the Civil War and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 383. Mrs. Tinsley was also a member of Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church.
Services were held at Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. with Edler Max Childs officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Mizpah Cemetery.
