Mrs. Alice Glass McAlister, 69, of 142 12th Ave., S.W., Cairo, Ga., passed away July 18, 2004, in Corinth, Texas after a brief illness.
Mrs. McAlister was born in Cairo, June 29, 1935, to Gertrude Sims and Rosevelt Gordon (deceased). She was married
to Paul McAlister, who preceded her in death in July 1993. Mrs. McAlister lived in Cairo for eight years. She was formerly of New York City, working as a nurse. She attended the New York School of Nursing, where she obtained a degree in nursing and was a member of the Greater New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
Services were held at the Greater New Corinth M.B. Church on Friday, July 23, 2004, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. W.R. Jenkins and Rev. Sylvester Williams officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Crestview Cemetery, Cairo.
Active pallbearers were family friends.

EDWARD PRINCE
Jan. 10, 1917 - July 23, 2004
Mr. Walter Edward Prince, 87, passed away July 23, 2004, at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, Ga.
Mr. Prince was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Attapulgus, Ga., to the late Walter Pryor and Minnie Butler Prince. Mr. Prince was a graduate of Cairo High School, served in the U.S. Army, was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the first president of FFA in Grady County, founder of the Feeder Pig Association, former president of The Livestock Association, former commander of the American Legion Post #122 and a recipient of the Farmer of the Year Award. Mr. Prince was a long time farmer (retired) and a member of the Presbyterian Church, Cairo.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2004, graveside at Long Branch Baptist Church cemetery with Elder Max Childs officiating.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, Charles Anthony Prince Jr., Stacy Barrineau, Cole Prince, Walter Jeffery Prince, Edward Anthony Prince and David Blake Prince.

Mr. Jesse W. (Jepp) Booth, 63, passed away at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, Ga., on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004.
Mr. Booth was born in Cordele, Ga., March 16, 1941, to Mrs. Dorethea Webster Booth of Cordele and the late Jesse Booth Sr. Mr. Booth had lived in Whigham, Ga., since his marriage to Carole Coffee Strickland on Dec. 24, 1991. He served in the National Guard, was retired from Inland Container Company, Macon, Ga., and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Clark Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, Sept. 29, 2004, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, graveside in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, with Rev. Byron Sherman officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Carole C. Booth, Whigham; son, Jesse W. Mrs. Eunice Miller Collins, 86, passed away at her place of residence on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004.
Mrs. Collins was born in Whigham, Ga., June 13, 1918, to the late Willie J. and Amanda Dykes Miller. She was married
to James M. Collins, who preceded her in death April 6, 1997. Mrs. Collins was a dedicated homemaker and a hairdresser. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo. She moved to Cairo from Attapulgus, Ga., in 1997 after the death of her husband, James. In Bainbridge she was active in the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Eastside Baptist Church, Cairo, with the Revs. Leland Collins, Johnny Moore and Dr. Leroy Spinks officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo.

Mr. Harry L. Griffin Jr., 61, passed away Sept. 18, 2004.
Mr. Griffin was born April 8, 1943. He attended Grady County public schools, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Greater New Corinth M.B. Church.

THELMA KINCHEN
May 4, 1938 - Sept. 24, 2004
Mrs. Thelma M. Kinchen, 66, of Madisonville, Ky., formerly of Cairo, Ga., passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at 3:15 a.m., at her place of residence.
Born May 4, 1938, in Christian County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lora Payne Maddox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Samples and Altibea Hunter, and by four brothers, Herschel Maddox, Herman Maddox, Billy Maddox and Larry Maddox.
She was a housewife and attended Providence Rural United Methodist Church in Hanson, Ky. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Arthur B. “Art” Kinchen of Madisonville; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Sandy) Cunningham and Beth Ann Puckett, both of Madisonville; one son, Arthur “Dale” Kinchen of Madisonville; two sisters, Sue Kyle and Betty Watson, both of Madisonville; one brother, Steve Maddox, Holt, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hatchett and Bro. Bob Williams officiating. Burial followed in East Lawn cemetery in Hanson, Ky.
Pallbearers were Chris Morris, Eddie Plunkett, Bryan Sadler, Brian Clayton, Jared Cunningham and Paul Watson. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Cunningham, Tony Kinchen, David Kyle, Clay Utley, Mike Jacobs, Steven Maddox and Eddie Puckett.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Green River Hospice Patient supplies and food.

Mr. Robert (Bob) Ledbetter, 80, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, Ga.
Mr. Ledbetter was born March 16, 1924, in Saltville, Va., to the late Scott and Jennie Collins Ledbetter. He was married
to Martha Barrett Ledbetter, who preceded him in death May 1, 2001. Mr. Ledbetter served the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver.

Mrs. Melissa Dean Maxwell, 98, of Cairo, Ga., passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Pinewood Nursing Home, Whigham, Ga.
Mrs. Maxwell was born July 14, 1906, in Decatur County, Ga., to the late Samuel David and Clara Idella Mobley Dean. She was married
U.G. (Gee) Maxwell, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Maxwell was a dedicated homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.

HARRY NAZWORTH SR.

Mr. Harry B. Nazworth Sr., 82, of Cairo, Ga., passed away at his home on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, after an extended illness.
Mr. Nazworth was born in Grady County, Ga., Sept. 11, 1922, to the late Ira J. and Mary Yawn Nazworth. He was married
to Nida Norwood Nazworth, who preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 2001. Mr. Nazworth was a native of Cairo. He married
Nida Norwood of Portland, Me., in December 1946. They lived in Cairo until the family moved to Dublin, Ga., in 1965 and returned to Cairo in 1989. He was an avid hunter, a World War II veteran, civil service retiree from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dublin. He was a member of the Al Sihah Shrine Temple in Macon, Ga., and a member of the Beth Pate Methodist Church in Beachton, Ga.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, graveside in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo.
Survivors include a son, Harry B. Nazworth Jr., Cairo; daughters, Nell Rebecca Davis and husband, Peter J. of Tallahassee, Fla., and Starr Lynette Askew of Vidalia, Ga.; sisters, Nell Ball of Tallahassee and Eunice Rogers of Havana, Fla.; and six grandchildren. Mr. Nazworth was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nida N. Nazworth, his parents, Ira J. and Mary Y. Nazworth, and his brothers, J.W. Nazworth and Jack Nazworth.
