James Wintford Dillard, 61, of Dalton, Ga., formerly of Polk County, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in the Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton. He was of the Baptist faith. Dillard is survived by his wife Martha Dillard; stepsons Albert, Robert and Clinton Allen all of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters Vicki Williams, and Nickie Rodriquez, both of Cleveland, Susan Tavares of Varnell, Ga.; brother Lee Roy Dillard and sister Ethelene Hobbs both of Chattsworth, Ga.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James Seabolt
James Earl Seabolt, 82, of Morganton, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002 at his home. Seabolt was a member of the Friendship #1 Baptist Church, and was employed by the Georgia State Highway Department working as a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife Eara Cantrell Seabolt; sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Kathy Seabolt of Blue Ridge, Charles and Alice Seabolt of Epworth, Steve and Carolyn Seabolt of Epworth, Randy and Robin Seabolt of Ellijay; daughters and sons - in- law Tammy and Raymond King of Blairsville, Dale and Keith Culberson of Morganton, Gay and Benny Cross of Morganton; brothers Emment Seabolt of Suches, Evan Seabolt of Morganton; sisters Edna Crawford of Morganton, and Ula Marie Bruce of Suches; 13 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. from the Friendship #1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Abernathy officiating. Music was by the A.C. Caylor family. Willie Forrester
Willie Lemma Forrester, 99, of Morganton, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2002, at the Life Care Center in Ducktown, Tenn.
Forrester was born in the Dial community on January 28, 1903 to the late William Coleman Forrester and the late Ida Woody Forrester. She taught school all over Fannin County spanning from 1919 to the 1960s. She was a member of the Morganton Baptist Church since 1948. Survivors include nieces Barbara Rudolph of Shelbyville, Tenn., Jane Pate of Morganton, Sue Queen of Morganton, Ann Scott of Akron, Ohio, Jenny Lynn Thomas of Smyrna, Ga. and Meloney Lunsford of Blairsville; and nephew Huey Forrester of Dial. Funeral services were held on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. from Morganton Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Miller and the Rev. Danny Parris officiating. Lennart Beims
Lennart Beims, 71 of McCaysville, died Sept. 19, 2002, at the Portsbridge Hospice in Dunwoody, Ga. Beims was born in Vannersborg, Sweden, but had lived in McCaysville since 1999 moving here from New York, N.Y. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. Survivors include his wife Erika Schmalz Beims; sons Robert Beims of McCaysville, and Donald Beims of Ranger, N.C. Raymond Baugh
Raymond E. Baugh, 83, of Cream St., Copperhill died Sept. 21, 2002, at the Fannin Regional Hospital. He was a native of Polk County, member of the First United Methodist Church of Copperhill, a veteran of World War II, and retired from the Cities Service Company. Baugh was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Lucille Farmer Baugh; and sons Eugene and David Baugh. Survivors include son Alan Baugh of Suches, Ga.; and four grandchildren Greg Baugh, Michelle Greene, Wanda Moore, and Chryl Dick. Inez Callihan Young, 86, of McCaysville, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the Copper Basin Medical Center. Young was a member of the Kingtown Baptist Church, an avid reader and taught the adult lady’s Sunday school class for decades. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Young and daughter Sandra Jean Young Woodward. Survivors include daughters Dana Young Radford of Tucker, Ga. and Geri Young Dilbeck of McCaysville; brothers Luke Callihan of Mineral Bluff and Charlie Callihan of McCaysville; sister Reba Isaac of McCaysville; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Hester Dyer
Hester Dyer, 90, of Blue Ridge Health Care died there Nov. 25, 2002. Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Sarah Sluder Jones. Dyer was preceded in death by her husband Dock Dyer and was a member of Bethany Church.
Survivors include sons Ed Dyer of Hortense, Ga., Melvin Dyer of Dalton, Ga., Roba Dyer of Ellijay, John Dyer and George Dyer, both of Epworth; daughters Vina Foster of Whiting, Ind., Carlene Postell and Helen Dickey, both of Epworth, and Susie Cook of Trenton, Ga.; sisters Annie Davenport and Dolly Early, both of Dalton; 21 grandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren; and 11 great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. from Bethany Church with the Rev. Jimmy Dickey officiating. Music was by the Heavenly Vision Trio.

Michelle Fussell
Michelle Miller Fussell, 40, of Blue Ridge died Nov. 24, 2002 in the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Miller and Michelle Dexter. Fussell and her husband owned and operated All Glass and Mirror of Blue Ridge.
Survivors include her husband Danny Fussell; son Chris Sanders of McCaysville; brothers Roger Miller of Eufaula, Ala. and Donald Miller of Blue Ridge; sister Pat Sikking of Columbus, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with the Rev. Larry Turner officiating. Music was by Mrs. Shirley Walker.

Deborah Elrod
Deborah Sisson Elrod, 54, of Isabella died Feb. 2, 2003 at the Copper Basin Medical Center. She was a native of Polk County and a member of the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
Elrod was employed by the Copper Basin Medical Center and had been a regular singer at the Decker’s Flea Market for the past six years.
Survivors include parents, Hubert and Evelyn Nari Sisson of Isabella; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Hoyt Johnson of Isabella; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Max Arp of Ducktown; brother and sister-in-law Ray Lynn and Judy Sisson of Cleveland and grandchildren Zack and Gracie Johnson; and step-granddaughter Allison Longwith.

Arnell Fox, 83, of Blue Ridge, died Jan. 19, 2003 at Blue Ridge Heath Care.
Fox was a lifelong resident of Fannin County and was a self-employed farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents John Hamilton and Josie Thurman Fox; brother Verner Fox; and sister Priscilla Weaver.
Survivors include sisters Lorene Woody of Blue Ridge and Annie Lee Plyman of Advance, N.C.; and nieces and nephews.

Janice Ann Boring Dozier, 52, of Blue Ridge died Jan. 29, 2003 at her home. Born in Polk County, Tenn., she was preceded in death by her mother Violet Powell Boring. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed life with her family, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors inclulde son and daughter-in-law David and Sherry Greer of Blue Ridge; daughter Susan E. Helen Patterson Long, 82, of Ellijay died Jan. 30, 2003.
Long was born on Dec. 29, 1920 in Fannin County. She is the daughter of the late Lester and Mandy Weeks Patterson. She is also the widow of Walter Long.
Long worked in the textile industry and was a member of the Barnes Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Sheena and Jimmy Hendrix of Ellijay; sons and daughters-in-law William and Barbara Long, Don and Becky Long and Danny Long, all of Ellijay; brother Ed Patterson of Blue Ridge; sisters Jewel Sluder of Blue Ridge and Zina Long of Dalton; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Charles Hicks Russell, 77, of Blue Ridge, died April 6, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Hicks was born in Fannin County the son of the late John and Bessie Godfrey Russell. He retired from the city of Blue Ridge Water Department and was a member of Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife June Godfrey Russell; sons James Douglas Russell and Tommy Charles Russell, both of Blue Ridge; brothers Jimmy Russell of Mineral Bluff, Joe Russell of Cleveland, Tenn., Jack Russell of Ducktown, and J.B. Russell of Blue Ridge; sisters Margie Elrod and Linda Russell, both of Copperhill; grandson Nathan Douglas Russell; and great-great-granddaughter Katelyn Russell.

Jack N. Grist Sr. of Blue Ridge, formerly of East Point, Ga. died April 8, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Grist, and grandson, Bryan Grist.
