Preston L. Vaughn Sr.
Graveside services for Preston L. Vaughn Sr. of Rhine were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 in Orphans Cemetery in Eastman.
The Rev. Scott McDuffie officiated.
Vaughn, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of the late Joe C. Vaughn and Nannie Rawlins Vaughn.
A native of Telfair County, he was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Ann Walker of Eastman; son, Preston Vaughn Jr. of Fitzgerald; sister, Mattie Lou Cravey of Milan; brother, Eddie Morris Vaughn of Rhine; and two grandchildren.
Stokes Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Othell Stewart
Services for Othell Stewart of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The Rev. Roy Grimes officiated.
Stewart, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Viola Virginia Williams and Charlie Columbus Coleman and was married to Jim Stewart.
She was a retired business owner and housewife.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Gary) Stewart of Callahan Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Russell ‘Dick’ McCranie
Graveside services for Russell “Dick” McCranie of Chauncey were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 in Zion Hope Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Jim Fennell officiated.
McCranie, 68, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005. He was the son of the late Bessie Mae Williams and Olan B. McCranie.
He was retired from construction work.
Survivors include one sister, Helen (W.D.) Davis of Chauncey; three brothers, Enoch McCranie of Lakeland Fla., Ronnie McCranie of Dothan, Ala. and Lewis Walker of Greenville, Tenn.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Marion Upshaw West
Services for Mary Marion Upshaw West of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13 at Faith Baptist Church with interment in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadwell.
The Rev. Bill Jones officiated.
Upshaw, 71, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Otis Woodard and Mildred Woodard of Dodge County and was the widow of Earl West. She was preceded in death by a brother, Roscoe Upshaw.
She was a housewife.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Eddie) Blankenship of McRae and Wanda (Lawrence) Parham of Warner Robins; four sons, Ronald (Judy) Upshaw of Maryland, Darrell Upshaw of McRae, Donnie (Wendy) Garrett of Dublin, and Richard Upshaw of McRae; one sister, Kathleen Barnes of Macon; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Robert M. Parsons Sr.
Services for Robert M. Parsons Sr. of Atlanta were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in Oakgrove Cemetery.
The Rev. William Connell and Eddie Selph officiated.
Parsons, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Felix Alexander Parsons and was married to Josephine Parsons for 62 years.
He was hired at M&C Bank in 1952 and after attending courses at LSU School of Banking, he was elected vice-president and cashier at the M&C Bank until he retired in 1986. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church and served many years as president of the McRae Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Margaret Barrow; son, Robert M. Parsons; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Wayne Harris
Services for Wayne Harris of Scotland were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Religious Center of McRae with interment in Dillard’s Cemetery.
The Rev. Elder A. Mizell officiated.
Harris, 38, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005 at The Telfair Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Berthola Harris and R.L. McRae of Scotland and was married to Annie Deeds Harris.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two step-daughters, Jessica Deeds and Kendra Deeds; one step-son, Lamota Deeds of Helena; two sisters, Doris (Jimmy) Josey of Americus and Gloria (James) Hamilton of Helena; one brother, Larry Harris of Scotland; and several nieces and nephews.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
A.W. Harvey Sr.
Services for A.W. Harvey Sr. of Alamo were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at Spaulding Grove Baptist Church in Alamo with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Larry D. Harvey officiated.
Harvey, 78, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at McRae Manor Nursing Home. He was the son of the late John Wesley and Katie Clara White Harvey and was the widower of Odessa Kinchen Harvey.
Survivors include his sons, Avery Washington Harvey Jr. and Clayton Harvey, of Alamo, Zimmery Harvey (Eva) of Pennsylvania and John Kennard (Cassandra) of California; three daughters, Betty Wright (H.T.) and Legia Woodard, of Alamo and Sinitra McRae (Pierce) of McRae; four sisters, Inezer Hall, Igloria Worthen, Inavie (Hilton) Turner and Irene (James) Allen; two brothers, Ozzie (Bethelene) and C.W. (Mozell) Harvey; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Macey Cravey Pittman
Services for Macey Cravey Pittman of Douglas were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Church of God of Prophesy with interment in the Hulett Cemetery.
The Rev. Hardy Crosby and the Rev. Lester Weldon officiated.
Pittman, 84, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005 at the Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas. She was the daughter of the late Flora Roberson Cravey and Frizzell Cravey of Telfair County and was the widow of Jim Pittman.
She was a native of Jacksonville, Ga. but had lived in Douglas the last few years.
Survivors include her children, Doris Hulett of Douglas, Matt McDaniel of Jacksonville, Joel McDaniel of Shreveport, La., James Pittman of McRae, and Flora Wells of Brunswick; one brother Kaiser Cravey of Brunswick; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ed Snyder
Services for Ed Snyder, of Athens were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 at the chapel of Lord and Stephens WEST in Bogart with interment in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Snyder, 79, died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at Redmond Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Sam and Louise Snyder and was married to Mary Snyder. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and Herbert.
A member for many years of numerous civic and church organizations, he was recently honored with the Georgia Lions Outstanding Deaf Award for the State of Georgia. Although he received numerous awards and recognitions during his lifetime, this was his most meaningful, because of his hearing impairment.
His long career included radio broadcasting and working with the hearing impaired. (He opened the first radio station in McRae, known then as WDAX.)
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters- in-law, Craig and Jonni Snyder of Ocilla, Neil and Katie Snyder of Townville, S.C.; daughter, Carol Snyder LaBarre of Rome; sister, Dorothy (Dick) Broom of South Carolina; brother, James (Jody) Snyder of South Carolina; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home of Bogart was in charge of arrangements.
Lizzie Mae Moore
Services for Lizzie Mae Moore of McRae were held at noon Saturday, July 30 at Moore’s Holiness Church of Milan with interment in Wesley Chapel CME Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Frye officiated.
Moore, 82, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late William and Emma Durr McCrimmon and was married to Otis ‘Buster’ Moore of Milan.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Ann Perry of McRae, Betty Gene Moore of Milan, Harry James (Marlena) Moore of Olive Branch, Miss., Joseph Moore of Milan, Jeanette Faison (Charlie) of Atlanta, and Larry (Beverly) Moore of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Eliza Clark of Jacksonville, Lola Dixon of Milan, and Kathryn D. Smith of Philadelphia; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
