Nelson Daves
Deacon at Wilscot Baptist, director of EMC
Nelson Daves, 90, of Morganton, died June 2, 2006.
Mr. Daves served as a deacon at Wilscot Baptist Church and was a life-long Democrat.
He attended North Georgia College for 2 years and was a former Fannin County Commissioner. He served for 45 years as the Blue Ridge Mountain Soil and Water Conservation District superintendent. Mr. Daves served as a director of the Blue Ridge Mountain EMC for 32 years and was a member of the Fannin County School Board for four years. In addition to this, he was a past Master of Ocoee Masonic Lodge.
Graveside services were held June 4 from Wilscot Baptist cemetery with Pastor Brian Whitfield of Macon, Ga. officiating.
The Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.
Patsy Allen
Resident of Copperhill, loving family member
Patsy Lee Cross Allen, 53, of Copperhill died June 4, 2006, at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga following an extended illness.
Mrs. Allen was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a daughter of the late Holloway and Nora Lee Dockery Cross.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband Leroy Allen of the home; son and daughter-in-law Roy Lee and Brandi Allen of McCaysville; brothers and sister-in-law Wayne Cross of Dalton and Arvil and Loretta Cross of Ducktown; sisters and brothers-in-law Maybell and Leroy Queen of McCaysville and Zybella and Herman Allen of Ducktown; grandson Jacob Lee Allen of McCaysville; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted June 7, from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. G.W. Mathis and the Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Music was by Linda Hardin and Jan Pelfrey.
Pallbearers included Buddy Queen, Robert Turner, Shannon Smith, Scott Payne, Amy Caine and Martin Pelfrey. Honorary Pallbearers included Jacob Allen, Jacob Queen and Dustin Queen.
iIntermentfollowed in the Mount Harmony cemetery.

Helen Kelly
St. Anthony’s member, survived by family
Helen Marie Kelly, 89, of Mineral Bluff, died June 4, 2006, at Fannin Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Kelly was born June 15, 1916.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Joseph Kelly.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Jerry Davenport of Mineral Bluff; and grandson Richard Cole of Mineral Bluff.
Funeral services were held June 7, from the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Bobbie Moss
Enjoyed world traveling, hiking, fishing, camping
Bobbie Jo Moss, 32, of Atlanta, died Aug. 8, 2006, at her mother’s home in Oxford, Ga.
Ms. Moss was born in Wayne County, Mich., on July 5, 1974.
She was a culinary artist who enjoyed world traveling, cooking, hiking, fishing and camping.
Survivors include her partner in life Kim S. Thompson of Atlanta; mother and stepfather Karen and Dan Wright of Oxford; father and stepmother John and Kathy Moss of Lincoln Park, Mich.; sister Ashley Wright of Oxford; brother Carl Moss of Atlanta; and grandmother Betty J. Wright of Blue Ridge.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Entombment will be at Woodville Baptist Church cemetery in Woodville, Mo.
Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Dennis King
Enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing
Dennis Clarence King, 65, of Turtletown, died Aug. 4, 2006, at his home.
Mr. King was a native of Caretta, W.Va. and was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Lucy Wilson King.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. King enjoyed being with his grandchildren more than anything. His hobbies included working in his garden, cooking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife and loving companion of 21 years Linda Walker of the home; sons Jonathan King of Murphy, N.C., David King of Gainesville, Fla., and Jeremy Dilbeck of Houston, Texas; daughters Dianne Arenas of Mexico, and Amanda Jack of Turtletown; brothers Rick King of Almond, N.C., Alden King of Dayton, Tenn., and Jerry King of Jefferson, Md.; sisters Janice Hajduk of Nokesville, Va., and Sandra Whitley of Chocowinity, N.C.; grandchildren Kayla Jack, Kristen Jack, Hannah Jack, Faith Jack, Melissa Outten and Joshua Mariner; and great-grandchild Conner Outten.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. Jeremiah Jack officiating. A eulogy was spoken by Amanda Jack. Music was by Janice Reid.

Betty Loudermilk
Mount Harmony member, Basin native
Betty Jane Loudermilk, 69, of Copperhill, died Aug. 6, 2006, in the Erlanger Medical Center.
Mrs. Loudermilk was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a member of the Mount Harmony Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late John Francis and Fannie Dockery Fricks.
Survivors include her husband Wilburn “Short” Loudermilk of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Cheri Loudermilk and Tom and Elizabeth Loudermilk, both of Turtletown; daughters and sons-in-law Betty Ann and Ronnie Williams of McCaysville and Robin and Ricky Self of Blue Ridge; brothers Bob Fricks of Seattle, Wash., and J.D. Fricks of Detroit, Mich.; sisters Gwen Heinrich of Seattle, Shelby Steen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Nell McCray of Madisonville, Tenn.; grandchildren D.J. Loudermilk, Jimmy Loudermilk, Jarrod Loudermilk and Kimberly McDaniels; and great-grandchildren Blaine Loudermilk and Hayden Loudermilk.
Funeral services were held Aug. 8 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. Tim Hemmings and the Rev. Roy Clore officiating.
Music was by Myrtle Loudermilk.
Pallbearers included D.J. Loudermilk, Jimmy Loudermilk, Jarrod Loudermilk, Bob Loudermilk, Larry Loudermilk and Ray Loudermilk.

Gloria Johnson
Native of New York, member of the AARP
Gloria Annette Warren Johnson, 62, of Blairsville, died Aug. 7, 2006, in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born on May 1, 1944, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the daughter of the late Louis Warren and the late Eileen Lucas Warren.
She was an AARP member and an Orlando First Baptist Church member.
Survivors include her loving husband Glenn Warren of Blairsville; brother Frank Antenucci of Washington; sister Virginia Butler of New York; aunt Gloria Dorn of Blue Ridge; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Johnson’s memory.

Joseph Wayne Bradford
Resident of Epworth, survived by family
Joseph Wayne Bradford, 52, of Epworth, died Aug. 4, 2006, at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Bradford was born in Fulton County, son of the late Richard R. Bradford and Viola Verdell Grant Bradford.
He was preceded in death by brother Clifton George Bradford; and his wife Debrah Ratley.
Survivors include daughters Angela Nicole Ratley and Dora Sue Ratley, both of Epworth; brothers David Leon Bradford, Kenneth John Bradford and Bobby Richard Bradford, all of Epworth; sisters and brother-in-law Doris and Barry Barrett of Gainesville, Ga., and Carolyn Ann Brock of Epworth; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7 from the Akins Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wesley Davenport officiating.
Pallbearers included Dick Adams, Don Rogers, Barry Barrett, Cory Long, Leon Bradford and Wayne Hubbard.
