Robert Brackett
Native of Fannin County,
retired dairy farmer
Robert Lewin “Bob” Brackett, 65, of Morganton, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. Mr. Brackett was born in Fannin County and retired as a dairy farmer. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his father William Lewin Brackett and son Gregory Brackett.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years Donna Ballew Brackett of the home; stepsons and daughter-in-law Brad and Trish Thomas and Justin Thomas, all of Morganton; mother Maggie Brackett of Blairsville Nursing Home; sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Thomas Hooper of Morganton; nephews Bart Hooper of Morganton, Brad Hooper of Acworth and Randy Hooper of Canton; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m. from the Akins of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. David Whitener officiating. Music was provided by Lane Falls, Brian Huffman and Marilyn Thomas. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, from the Hemptown cemetery.
Pallbearers included Bob Thomas, Tim McDaris, Mark Ramey, Don Cook, James Cook, Brad Hooper, Randy Hooper and Damon Davenport. Honorary pallbearers were Bart Hooper, Brad Thomas, Justin Thomas, Zack Ramey, L.J. Querry, Chance Querry, Danny Davenport, and Larry Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Bonnie Rogers, 2855 Old Hwy. 5, Blue Ridge, Ga., 30513, or the Gideons International, P. O. Box 140800, Nashville, Tenn., 37214-0800, in Mr. Brackett’s memory.

Mildred Massey
Seamstress, Atlanta West Pentecostal Church member
Mildred Inez Massey, 76, of Dallas, Ga., formerly of Blue Ridge, died Sept. 3, 2006.
She was born June 10, 1930, in Sandtown, Ala., to the late Thomas and Daisy Brazel.
Mrs. Massey was a seamstress and was a member of Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Massey Sr. and children Robert Joseph Massey Jr. and Norma Danita Massey.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Donna and LaVaughn Johnson and Stacey Massey, all of Dallas, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 5 from Atlanta West Pentecostal Church with Brother Darrell Johns officiating.

Gail Tilson
Eastern Star member, survived by family
Janet “Gail” Tilson, 59, of Copperhill, died Aug. 31, 2006, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Newman; mother Gladys Price Newman; mother-in-law Vivian Manuel; brother Donald Newman; and granddaughter Julianna Rhayne Hughes.
Mrs. Tilson was a member of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband Jim Tilson of the home, son and daughter-in-law Freddy and Jodie Hughes of Ellijay, daughter and son-in-law Janet and Johnny Francis of Murphy, three granddaughters, three grandsons, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 3 from the Akins of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dickey officiating. Music was by Myra.
Pallbearers included David Johnson, Johnny Francis, Mark Kincaid, Randall Patterson, Eddie Hopkins, Ray Tanner and Jack Thomas.

Arlden Bradburn
Worked for Goldkist, survived by family
Arlden Bradburn, 75, of the Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge, died Sept. 3, 2006.
Mr. Bradburn had previously worked for Goldkist in Ellijay.
He was preceded in death by son Jackie Bradburn and parents James L. and Zillie Teague Bradburn.
Survivors include sisters Mae Watkins of the Ellijay Nursing Home, Mary Stewart of Murphy, Ada Nell Johnson of Morganton, Alene Lowe and Shirley Bradburn, both of Blue Ridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with the Rev. Phillip Thomas officiating.
Music was provided by Jessie and Lena Hill.
Pallbearers included Jerry Bradburn, Leon Davenport, Hank Davenport, Ricky Killian, Ricky Bradburn and Rocky Killian.

Clifford Foster
Glen Hope Baptist member and deacon
Andrew Clifford Foster, 85, of Blue Ridge, died Aug. 31, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Foster was born April 15, 1921, in Fannin County to the late John R. Foster and the late Effie Davenport Foster.
He was a member and deacon of Glen Hope Baptist Church.
Mr. Foster retired from Southern Wood Preserving in 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife Novella Harris Foster; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Judy Foster of Dacula, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law Phyllis and Richard Pool of Jasper, Ga.; grandsons Van Foster, Travis Foster and Mark Pool; granddaughter Crystal Pool; great-grandchildren Kaylee Foster, Garrett Foster and Jaxon Foster; brother Maford Foster of Blue Ridge; sisters Vernie Green and Lela Hale, both of Blue Ridge; sister-in-law Jean Foster of Indiana; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 2 from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Worley and the Rev. Lamar O’Neal officiating. Music was provided by Pat Mashburn.
iIntermentfollowed in Hipps Chapel Methodist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers included Randy Harris, Ernest Harris, Ronnie Thomas, Randall Shuler, Van Foster, Van Foster and Mark Pool.
Honorary pallbearers included Mr. Foster’s nephews.

Rowena Sharpe
Resident of Morganton and New Orleans
Rowena M. Sharpe, 77, of Morganton and New Orleans, died Aug. 26, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.
Survivors include her husband Jack Sharpe, daughters Barbara Bryant and Andrea Giambelluca, son Jonathan Sharpe, six grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons.
A private service will be held in Morganton and her cremated remains placed in Mrs. Sharpe’s favorite flower garden.
Charles Curtis
Pastor, member of Church of God Prophecy
The Rev. Charles E. Curtis, 58, of Grapevine Lane, Ellijay, died Sept. 3, 2006.
Rev. Curtis was born November 21, 1947, in Polk County the son of the late James E. and Lona Boggs Curtis.
He worked as a respiratory therapist and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Rev. Curtis was a member and pastor of the Church of God Prophecy in Tunnel Hill, Ga.
Survivors include his wife Lizzie (Sam) O. Curtis of the home; son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Lee Curtis of Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Joe Clayton of Ellijay; grandchildren Brad Curtis, Tyler and Cheyenne Clayton and Christen Stalls; brothers and sisters-in-law Wade and Flora Curtis and Bobby and Marie Curtis, all of Epworth, Grady Max and Betty Curtis of Mineral Bluff and James and Marsha Curtis of Copperhill; sisters and brother-in-law Marilyn and Joe Stillwell of Canton and Carolyn Anderson of Epworth; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sept. 6 from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Alred, the Rev. Robert Prams, the Rev. Billy Adams and the Rev. Melvin Burson officiating. Music was by the Clayton family, Irene Wofford and Pressing On.
iIntermentwas in the Faith Chapel Church of God Prophecy cemetery with graveside rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Carlos Martinez
Infant son of Juan and Rachel Brown Martinez
Little Carlos Jesus Martinez, infant son of Juan and Rachel Brown Martinez of Hayesville, N.C., died Aug. 29, 2006.
He was born Aug. 18, 2006.
Other survivors include grandparents Tina Brown of Culberson, N.C., and Joaauin Martinez and M. Rosa Mejia of Mexico; great grandparents Frankie and Mack Henson of Culberson; aunts and uncles James and Amie Ross of Mineral Bluff, Edward and Rita Brown, Matthew Brown, Amanda Henriauez and Marcos Espinoza, all of Culberson; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Aug. 30 from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Dillard officiating.
iIntermentwas held in the Jerusalem Baptist Church cemetery.
