David Koerner
Family man, journalist
David Michael Koerner, 57, of Blue Ridge, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Fannin Regional Hospital.
Mr. Koerner was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Larke County, Ind. He attended Blue Ridge First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Crystal Cooke Koerner of the home; daughters Mindy Koerner of New Albany, Ind., and Suzanne Pruitt of Jeffersonville, Ind.; son Michael Koerner of Edinburgh, Scotland; stepson Patrick Cooke and stepdaughter Alexis Cooke of Blue Ridge; mother-in-law Betty Ralston of Blue Ridge; brother Henry Koerner; sister Margaret Koerner; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Oct. 22 from the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Brantley officiating. Music was provided by Pat Miller. iIntermentfollowed in Chastain Memorial Park.
Pallbearers included Brian Finnicum, Harry Doss, Michael Gwatney, Larry Hansen, Barry Thomas, Larry Thomas, Bradley Thomas and Tommy Vannoy.
Honorary pallbearers included Clarke Mercer, Frank Reece, Mike Scott and Dick Metzgar.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East Fannin Library Fund at 1 Elementary Circle, Morganton, Ga., 30560.

Mary Wilson
Survived by family, resident of Decatur
Mary Rosetta Ebrite Sayer Wilson, 89, of Decatur, Ga., died Oct. 6, 2006.
Mrs. Wilson (best known as “Molly” to her friends) was born in Rome, Ga., on March 22, 1918. She grew up in LaGrange, Ga. She attended Young Harris Academy and graduated from Young Harris College in 1936, and was a devoted alumnus.
Legendarily active in various organizations, she was a member of the Atlanta Miniature Society and the Wilson Woods Garden Club. She was also a loyal member of the University Heights United Methodist Church for 45 years, serving as church treasurer. Mrs. Wilson was a Girl Scout leader for many years and an active traveler. She was a part of President Carter’s Friendship Force and traveled to Thailand, China, Russia, and Egypt.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her first husband Jot O. Sayer, Jr., and her second husband Clifford Floyd Wilson, formerly of Blue Ridge, and grandson Andrew Mier.
Survivors include daughter Barbara A. Sayer of Asheville, N. C.; son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Cindy Sayer of Asheville; stepdaughter and son-in-law Nancy and Curt Tipton of Duluth, Ga.; stepson and daughter-in-law Clifford and Linda Wilson of Seal Beach, Calif.; granddaughters Joanna Clarke-Sayer of Chicago, Ill., Abigail Clarke-Sayer of Leiden, Holland, Hollis Harker of Atlanta and Mariko Wilson of Seal Beach; grandsons Brett Harker of San Francisco, Calif., Joel Mier of San Jose, Calif., and Eric Wilson of Seal Beach; sisters-in-law Luneta Hamby of McCaysville and Jimmie Faye Wilson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services were Oct. 21 from the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. John Dallas officiating.
Internment followed in the John Floyd Anderson cemetery in Blue Ridge with the Rev. Anthony Sayer officiating.

Angelo Ponton
Survived by family, resident of Canton
Angelo Daniel Ponton, 70, of Canton, died Oct. 17, 2006.
He is survived by his wife Anneliese Ponton of the home; son Marcus Ponton of Blue Ridge; daughters Monica Arrington of Jasper, Ga., Angela Dills of Blue Ridge, Helga Queen of Canton and Michele Parrish of Ball Ground, Ga.; brother Carlos Ponton of Fla.; sisters Martha Anglerau, Evelyn Abernathy of Blue Ridge, Mary Ponton of Miami, Fla., and Elizabeth Simpson of Ellijay; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 21 from the chapel of Sosebee Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Jordan, the Rev. Billy Ray Queen and the Rev. Fulton Lamar Arrington officiating.

Jack Gaddis
U.S. Navy veteran, retired from TVA
Jack Gaddis, 81, of Kingston, Tenn., died Oct. 29, 2006, at Parkwest Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Isabella, Tenn., but made his home in the Kingston area since 1954. He retired from TVA Kingston Steam Plant and was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during War World II and Korea. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Union Lodge #38 F&AM, Scottish Rite, and Kingston Chapter #405 O.E.S.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen Gaddis.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Jeff Cleary; son Lewis Clayborne; stepdaughter Gail Stinchfield; grandchildren Emily and Ryan Cleary, Maresa Smith, and Travis and Bradley Clayborne.
Funeral services were held Nov. 1, 2006, from the First Baptist Church of Kingston with the Rev. Dr. Roy Graves officiating. Graveside services followed from the Macedonia (Wolf Creek) cemetery.

Robert Coleman
War World II veteran, retired miner
Robert Kenneth Coleman (R.K.), 81, of the Life Care Center of Copper Basin in Ducktown, died Oct. 27, 2006.
Mr. Coleman was born in Polk County to the late Ella Coleman. He was a retired miner with the Cities Service Company and was War World II Navy veteran. Mr. Coleman was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Postelle, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife Jean Griffin Coleman of Copperhill; niece Barbara Smithson of Smithville, Tenn.; brothers Bingie Johnson of Ducktown and Ed Johnson of Postelle; and sister Ruth Cutcher of Postelle.
Funeral services were held Oct. 29 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. Al Patterson and the Rev. Frank Fisher officiating. Music was by Edward Vest. iIntermentfollowed in the Mount Zion (Postelle) cemetery.
Pallbearers included Les Nickle, Doyle Swain, Bill Swain, John Johnson, Kenny Housley and Tony Howard.
Honorary pallbearer was Stanley Martin.

Mamie Morgan
Survived by family, resident of Murphy
Mamie May Morgan, 92 of Murphy, N. C., died Oct. 30, 2006, at Murphy Medical Center nursing home.
Mrs. Morgan was born Dec. 7, 1913, in Polk County Tenn., to the late Julius and Molly Tilley Dale. A member of Baptist Faith Devalt Christian.
She was preceded in death by son, Paul Mac Morgan.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy Bob and Kay Morgan of Murphy, the Rev. Paul Ray and Linda Morgan of Copperhill, W. M. Morgan of Rome, brother Sam Dale of Turtletown, sister Bernice Ledford of Isabella, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 1 from the Cochran Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Raymond Shields, the Rev. Roy Clore, the Rev. R. L. Martin officiating. Music was by the Golden Sisters.
iIntermentfollowed in New Liberty Baptist cemetery.
Pallbearers included Jamie Postell, Shannon Morgan, Chad Anderson, Tim Morgan, Todd Morgan and Benjamin Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers included Seth Morgan, B. R. Ledford, Donald Cook, the Rev. Ronnie Palmer and Ronnie Green.

Jessie Hammontree
Survived by family, residence of Chatsworth
Jessie Payne Hammontree, 86, of Chatsworth died Nov. 2, 2006, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Bertha Allen Payne; brothers Raymond, Frank and Elmer Payne; sister Ethie Dean; half-brothers William and Doug Payne.
Survivors include her husband Ralph W. Hammontree Sr. of Chatsworth; sons and daughter-in-law Lynn and Cheryl Hammontree of Dalton, Ralph W. Hammontree Jr. and Danny Hammontree, both of Chatsworth; daughters and son-in-law Kathy and Paul Leopard and Gail Hickey, all of Chatsworth, and Kay Pharr of Knoxville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; brother J. P. Payne of Con-yers, Ga., sisters Zenilee Patterson of Tennga, Ga., and Essie Tripplett of Cleveland, Tenn.; half-brothers Wesley and James Payne of Copperhill; half-sisters Anne Mae, Leana, Ivaleen and Margie; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 4 from the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Payne officiating.

Robert Patterson
Carpenter, survived by family
Robert Eugene Patterson, 46, of Blue Ridge died Nov. 2, at his home.
He was a native of Cobb County, Ga., son of the late James Norman Patterson and Evelyn Wynell Richards Patterson. He had been working as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Burris of Conyers, Ga.; children, Bobby and Chris Patterson of Cordele, Ga., Jessica Patterson Worthy of Cordele and Brittany Patterson of Rockmart, Ga.; a brother, Ron Patterson of Ohatchee, Ala.; two grandchildren, Dylan Farmer and Ethan Worthy of Cordele; and many other relatives and friends.
The body was cremated. No services are planned at this time.
