Bluford Dyer
Survived by family, resident of Blairsville
Bluford Marion Dyer, 73, of Blairsville, died Dec. 1, 2006, at Embracing Arms Hospice in Snellville.
Mr. Dyer was born Nov. 26, 1933, in Union County to the late Marion Jewell and Azie Collins Dyer. Mr. Dyer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Mr. Dyer was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Jo Shook Dyer.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Jounida and Keith Porter of Jefferson, Ga., and Gail and Wayne Hedden of Blairsville; sisters Ethelene Dyer Jones of Milledgeville, Ga., Louise Dyer of Commerce, Ga., and Linda Fortenberry, Brenda Murphy and Janice Lance, all of Blairsville; brothers Eugene Dyer, Troy Shelton and Troy Dyer, all of Blairsville; grandsons Luke Hedden, Blaze Porter and Sky Porter; granddaughter Leslie Hedden; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Dec. 3 from the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Keith Jones officiating. A eulogy was by Mr. Bob Gibby. Music was by the Rev. R. Terry Hooper and Ryan Showalter. iIntermentfollowed in the Choestoe Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Blaze Porter, Sky Porter, Luke Hedden, Marty Gibby, Sylvan Dyer and A.J. Shook.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Alzheimer’s Association Headquarters, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, Ill., 60601.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Radford
Survived by family, resident of Farner
Robert Lois Radford, 54, of Farner, Tenn., died Nov. 29, 2006.
Mr. Radford was a native of Cherokee County, N.C., and was a son of the late Lois Robert and Frances Oletta Mann Radford. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Renae Taylor Radford of the home; son Robert Lee “Bobby” Radford of Marble, N.C.; daughters Danielle Radford and Kayla Radford, both of Farner; brother Ronnie Radford of Reidsville, Ga.; sisters Rosanna Stiles of Jasper, Tenn., Sharon Adams of Murphy and Janet Norman of Gallatin, Tenn.; and grandchildren Beth, Mallory and Macy Radford.
Funeral services were held Dec. 2 from the Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Howard officiating. Music was by Linda Beavers.
iIntermentfollowed in the Unaka Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers included Tom, Nath, Brian and Corey Taylor, Derrick Cearley, and Robert Coleman.

Lillian Jones
Survived by family, resident of Barnesville
Lillian Maude Jones, 85, of Barnesville, Ga., died Nov. 10, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was born April 1, 1921, in Fannin County, to the late Julius Richard and Nona Mae Smith Panter. She was a homemaker and a member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband Luther Hayden Jones.
Survivors include her children Vivian Jones Locke of Barnesville, Nancy J. and Glenn Locke of Griffin, Ga., Dorothy and Daniel Perry of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Frances and Anthony Thompson of Griffin; grandchildren and their spouses Leslie and Gina Locke, Laura and Jason Holmes, Ben Price, Derek Perry, Craig and Brenee Locke, Jody and Rick Forcum, Linda and Barry Bunn, Dr. Karen Locke and Jeff Thompson; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law Buddy Paul and Evelyn Panter of Smyrna, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12 from the Conner Westbury Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Pledger officiating.
Graveside services followed Nov. 13 from the Mobile Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Larry Russell officiating.

Ettie Loftis
Survived by family, resident of Blue Ridge
Ettie Mae Loftis, 85, of Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge, died Dec. 5, 2006.
Born in Fannin County, she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie Rhodes Jones. Mrs. Loftis was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Loftis; sons Kenneth Loftis, Terry Loftis and Sonny Loftis; brothers A.M. Jones and Clifford Jones; and sisters Lucille Ferguson, Esta Smith and Ruth Merrill.
She is survived by sons Arnold Loftis of Andrews, N.C., and Ronnie Loftis of Mineral Bluff; daughters Mary Jane Gibbs of Mineral Bluff and Helen Norton of Blue Ridge; sister Frankie Adams of Blue Ridge; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7 from the Akins of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Mann and the Rev. Rick Long officiating. Music was by Sherry Stiles and Mary Trembling.
iIntermentfollowed in Chastain Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Michael Hicks, David Hicks, Terry Collins, Jason Norton and Wesley Corn.

William Harper
Survived by family, resident of Jonesboro
William C. “Red” Harper, 84, of Jonesboro, Ga., died Nov. 27, 2006.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Donald Reed Harper of Jonesboro, William Michael and Wanda Harper and James Daniel and Hope Harper, all of Hampton, Ga., Richard Terry and Karen Harper of Columbus, Ga.; sisters Ruth Turner and Lillian Kyle both of McCaysville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date.

James Hughes
Survived by family, resident of Jasper
James Alvin “Gilbert” Hughes, 65, of Jasper, Ga., died Dec. 4, 2006.
Mr. Hughes was a son of the late Benjamin and Alice Mae Payne Hughes and was a retired construction painter.
Survivors include sons Arlen Hughes of Chatsworth, Ga., James Hughes Jr. of Struthers, Ohio, Earl Hughes of McCaysville, Larry Hughes of Chatsworth, and Michael Hughes of Epworth; brothers Elmer Hughes of Isabella, and Charles Hughes of Chatsworth; sister Magalean Eller of Jasper; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. John Wynn and the Rev. Leonard Hunter officiating. Music was by Harold and Hazel Dillard and the New Evangeliers.
iIntermentfollowed in the Patterson cemetery.
Pallbearers included David Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, Raymond Hensley, Tony Johnson, Larry Crawley and Jeffery Hughes.
Honorary pallbearers included Larry Pelt, Bobby Johnson and Phillip Hamby.

Brenton Hrometz
Talented pianist, survived by family
Brenton Stephen Hrometz, Sr., better known as “Brent, ” 96, of McCaysville died Dec. 2, 2006, in the Life Care Center in Ducktown.
Born in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Franklin and Cornelia Matechek Hrometz. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Epworth and a member of the Caldwell Masonic Lodge in Bolivar, Ohio. Mr. Hrometz was a talented pianist.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey A. Hrometz after 70 years of marriage.
Survivors include son Brent Hrometz Jr. of White Mountain Lakes, Ariz.; daughters and sons-in-law Sonja and Earl Hickman of North Canton, Ohio, Darla and Vern Heim of McCaysville, and Veda and John Herstine of Magnolia, Ohio; eight grandchildren, and 15 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6 from the Akins of Blue Ridge chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music was by the Rev. Doug Simonds.

Tommy Thomason
Survived by family, resident of Chattanooga
Tommy Joe Thomason, 49, formerly of Copperhill, died Dec. 11, 2006, at the Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga.
Mr. Thomason was a native of Polk County and son of the late Richard and Rose Blackwell Thomason. He was a maintenance worker at a chicken processing plant.
Survivors include brother James Thomason of Cleveland, Tenn.; sisters Peggy Sue Mayhew of Copperhill, Mary Ann Self of Etowah, Tenn., Beulah Thorpe of Missouri, and special nephew Mike and Henrietta Self of Copperhill.
Funeral services were Dec. 14 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with the Rev. Denise Caldwell officiating.
iIntermentfollowed in the Bethel Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Mayhew, Gregory Brummitt, Mike Self, Jason Murrin and Jackie Anderson.
