Mrs. Frankie Mae Fortenberry age 87 of Owltown Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday Oct.23, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Fortenberry was born on Nov.2, 1918 in Union County, The daughter of the late William Frank Summerour and the late Florence Edna Gillespie Summerour. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Gibson Cook in 2006.Mrs.Fortenberry was a member of the Coosa United Methodist church.
Surviving Mrs. Fortenberry are her loving husband of twenty years, Vernon Fortenberry of Blairsville, one daughter, Susan Elaine Alexander of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter in law, Ira Eugene Gibson of Shelby, NC., Jerry Martin and Teresa Gibson of Hendersonville, TN., four step sons and daughter in laws, J. W. and Janice Fortenberry of Blairsville, Mitchell and Betty Jo Fortenberry of Adairsville, GA., Jimmy and Ann Fortenberry of of Rome, GA., Randy and Sharon Fortenberry of Blairsville, three sisters and one brother in law, Sue Summerour, Shirley Brackett, Katherine and Norman Bachelor all of Blairsville, eleven grandchildren, Waylon and Holly Gibson, Dawn and Larry Cook, Pam Madden, Veda, Janice, and Roberta Weaver, Destinee, Heather and Shane Gibson, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Oct.26, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Coosa Methodist Church with the Rev. Katie Strals and Rev. Earl Bishop officiating. Special music will be presented by Bo Hinson. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Tim Levi, Kevin Edwards, Jim Duncan, .iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery. Mr. John Crews Ringland age 88 of Rocky Circle Blairsville passed away on Friday June 8, 2007 in the Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge following an extended illness. Mr. Ringland was born on May 2, 1919 in Toronto, Canada, the son of the late Hans Ringland and the late Mabel Crews Ringland. he was a veteran of the Canadian Air Force of WWII. He was an office manager of LakeSide Village for over fifteen years. Mr. Ringland was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving Mr. Ringland are his loving wife of forty one years, Geraldine Ringland of Blairsville, one daughter, Barbara Burns of Vancover, Canada, three sons and two daughter in laws, Pete and Kiki Ringland of Tahiti, Granger Ringland of Roechester, NY., Michael and Patricia Nolan of Ft. Wayne, IN., six grandchildren, one great grandchild, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Esther B. Young age 93 of Murphy Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday June 10, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Young was born on Feb.21, 1914 in Broome, NY., the daughter of the late Manley Bellinger and the late Nina Earls Bellinger. She had made her home in Blairsville since 1999, moving here from St. Cloud, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leander Young in 1976 and by a brother, Floyd Bellinger in 1940.Mrs.Young was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving Mrs. Young are one daughter and son in law, Willa Mae and Leonard Zeh of Blairsville, one brother, Duncan Bellinger of Howes Cave, NY., one niece, Ilene Gaffney of Cobleskill, NY., six grandchildren, Phillip Zeh, Kelly Ferguson, Brian Zeh, Sherrie Zeh, Lisa Jones and Kimberly Rosas, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Robert (Better known as Bob) Dean Ellis age 71 of Souther Farm Rd. Blairsville and also of Sunny Drive Donalsville, GA. passed away on Monday June 11, 2007 at his home in Blairsville following an extended illness. Mr. Ellis was born on June 12, 1935 in Emeigh, PA., the son of the late Clarence Ellis Sr.and the late Marion Gentles Ellis. He was retired from the US Navy, serving in both the Korean and Vietnan Wars. He received over eighteen Medals and Awards while in the Military. He loved his God and his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ellis and two brothers, Jack and Charlie Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a member of Reynolds Chapel Methodist Church in Donalsville, GA.
Surviving Mr. Ellis are his loving wife of fourteen years, Betty Jean Johnson Ellis of Blairsville and Donalsville, three sons and one daughter in law, Bob Ellis Jr. of Henderson, NV., Michael Ellis of Austin, TX., David and Ann Ellis of Arlington, TX., three step sons and daughter in laws, Alan and Nancy Woods of Fayettville, GA., Tommy and Brenda Woods of Thomasville, GA., Gary and Heather Woods of Decula, GA., one sister and brother in law, Phyllis and Dan Schmidt of Youngstown, OH., two brothers and sister in laws, Herbert and Susie Ellis of Crourgarville, TX., six grandchildren, Kati, Cory, Kenny, Delaney, Sydney and Micaela, many other relatives and friends also survive.

JOHN E. TOMLINSON Jr.
Mr. John E. Tomlinson age 69 of Chatuge Circle Hiawassee passed away on Saturday Oct.29, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Tomlinson was on May 29, 1936 in Brunswick, GA., the son of the late John E. Tomlinson Sr. and the late Bessie James Tomlinson. He graduated from Southern Technical College and retired after thirty four years as a Bridge Engineer for the Georgia State Department of Transportation. He lived for many years in College Park, GA., then retired and moved to the beautiful mountains in North Georgia, in Hiawassee on Lake Chatuge. He enjoyed bowling with several bowling leagues for several years in Blairsville and has many bowling friends. John loved his church at St. Francis of Assisi where he was a member, and also was an Usher and Eucharistic Minister.
Surviving Mr. Tomlinson are his loving wife of forty eight years, Pat Tomlinson of Hiawassee. Two daughters and one son in law, Deborah Weatherly of Murphy, NC., Julie and Alan Keling of Hayesville, one brother and sister in law, Larry and Gail Tomlinson of Miami. FL., one sister and brother in law, Shirley and Bill Seidel of Titusville, FL., five grandchildren, Teresa, Kevin, Rachael, Sarah and Brooke, several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Nov.1, 2005 at 12:00 pm from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church with Father Richard Wise officiating. iIntermentwill follow in St. Clare’s Columbarium. TROY ALBERT DEGOLYER
Our beloved Troy Albert DeGolyer passed away in his Blairsville home of 15 years, and joined our Creator, on Monday Oct.31, 2005.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elijah Coldwell, his step father, Paul DeGolyer Sr., his brother, James Carl DeGolyer and his sister, Judy Mead. He is survived by his mother, Mildred DeGolyer, his wife, Carliss DeGolyer, his children, Nick DeGolyer, Jolee Miles and Vickie Hajash, his sisters, Veronica Davis and Yvonne Clemmons, his brother, Paul DeGolyer, and grandchildren, Alex and Jazzmyne DeGolyer, Rachael and Gregory Miles, and Taylor Hajash. Troys mother and siblings reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife and children reside in Georgia and Florida, respectively.
A strong Native American bloodline defined Troy’s character, resolution and values. Troys mother is of the Shawnee Nation, and Troy’s late father was full blooded Apache.
Troy served as a Corpsman in the US Navy for four years and the Naval Reserve for two years. Following his Military service he started a successful security alarm business in Largo, Florida. Here he met his wife Carliss in the summer of 1980 and adopted a son, Nick, the following year, becoming a devoted father and husband.
Throughout his life, Troy utilized his unique ability to find the beauty and potential in all things. In perfecting this ability, Troy moved his family to the city of Blairsville, located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Georgia. Here he began a respected truck accessory business as well as a mobility products company. With hard work, strong will and the help of his family, Troy steadily created a beautiful estate and spiritual refuge from an old rustic farmland. this newly renowned home was properly named" Two Eagles Estate".
In keeping with his tradition of beautifying life, Troy was a self taught artist. Mother Earth was his canvas and inspiration. He skillfully etched, drew, painted and sculpted images of nature and Native American life.
Troy has left us a legacy of endurance, respect, quality and love. He will be dearly missed by all who love him.
A memorial service was held on Thursday Nov.3, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Bob Huggins officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation in Mr. DeGolyer’s memory. ROBERT E. RENAUD
Mr. Robert E. Renaud of Ford Rd. Blairsville passed away to be with the Lord on Monday Oct.31, 2005.He was born on May 26, 1935 in Manchester, NH., The son of the late Edouard Renaud and the late Jeannette Ouellette Renaud. He graduated high school and joined the US Naval Military as a Gunners Mate and was honorably discharged. He later became a general contractor and retired as a project Superintendent at the age of 63.He truly enjoyed shooting pool and praying on the golf course. He was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving Mr. Renaud are one son and daughter in law, David and Christine Renaud of Chicago, IL., with two grandchildren, Candace and Brad Renaud, His eldest daughter and son in law, Roberta and Keith Ford of Blairsville, with two grandchildren, Daniel and Justine Ford, His youngest daughter and son in law, Justine and John Sproul and two grandchildren, Chelsey and Connor Sproul, many other relatives and friends also survive.
His prayers and wishes were of cremation and for his loved ones to "celebrate" his home coming in lieu of a formal service. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to The American Legion Post 129 of Jacksonville Beach, FL. in Mr. Renaud’s memory.

Rev. Jason Wayne Hughes age 29 of Dorothy Hughes Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Nov.9, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Rev. Hughes was born on May 25, 1976 in Union County the son of Wayne Hughes and Joan Underwood Hughes.He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was preceded in death by his Grandfathers. Rev. Hughes was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.

Hughes are his loving wife of eight years, Shelley George Hughes of Blairsville, Two children, Autumn and Jacob Hughes of Blairsville, Father and Mother, Rev.Wayne and Joan Hughes of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Kim and Devin Roberts of Blairsville, nephew, Dalton Ayers of Blairsville, Grandparents, Mary Sue Hughes and Annie Vitale both of Blairsville, A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Robert Fisher Shirer age 73 of M & M Place Blairsville formerly of Atlanta passed away on Saturday June 17, 2007 in the Kennestone Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Shirer was born on Feb.3, 1934 in Allison, IA., the son of the late Clarence Albert Shirer and the late Alberta Johnson Shirer. He was a veteran of the US Navy of the Korean War. He was a member of the Valley Nebraska Masonic Lodge F&AM, A Shriner, and a member of the Sunny Peaches Camping Club. Robert was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed hiking and camping. Mr. Shirer was a member of Providence Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Shirer are his loving wife of fifty one years, Mary Jo Harris Shirer of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Bob and Leigh Shire of Pensacola, FL., three daughters and one son in law, Melonie Jackson of Philadelphia, PA., Sheila and Jackie Johnson of Savannah, GA., Charlotte Shirer of Jacksonville, FL., Amy Shirer of Houston, TX., seven grandchildren, Jason and Justin Jackson, Jack and Jennifer Johnson Rachel, Ross and Robyn Shirer, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. John Weston Fullerton age 63 of Blairsville formerly ofCarver, MA., passed away on Monday June 18, 2007 following a brief illness. Mr. Fullerton was born on Feb.14, 1944 in Brockton, MA., the son of the late Warren E. Fullerton and the late Mabel L.Milan Fullerton. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by a son, John W. Fullerton in 1997 and by a sister, Nan Fullerton. He was an avid hunter and loved animals. ohn has now found the Peace which he was always looking for. Mr. Fullerton was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth, MA.

Mr. Norman Edward Kirsch age 91 of Alexander Drive Blairsville passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2007 in the Clay County Care center following an extended illness. Mr. Kirsch was born on Sept.19, 1915 in Campbell Hill, IL., the son of the late Edward H. Kirsch and the late Rosa Vogt Kirsch. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines. He was President of Rainbow Prison Ministry for over twenty two years. Mr. Kirsch was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
Surviving Mr. Kirsch are his loving wife Myra Flemming Kirsch of Blairsville, one son, Marvin Kirsch of Blairsville, nieces and nephews, Barbara and Bill Holly of Murraysville, PA., Loraine and Barry Conrad of York, PA., many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday June 21, 2007 at 1:00pm from the Holly Hill cemetery with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Rainbow Prison Ministries in Mr. Kirsch’s memory.
