Mr. Amos Eugene Porter age 67 of Timber Ridge Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday Sept.2, 2006 following an extended illness. Mr. Porter was born on Aug.14, 1939 in Cherokee County, GA., The son of the late Otto Perry Porter and the late Lula Bell Brock Porter. He was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from the Commercial Carriers Car Haulers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Nell Taylor Porter in 2005.Mr. Porter was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Porter are two sons and one daughter in law, Perry Porter of Kennesaw GA., Perry and Jan Porter of Marietta, two daughters and son in laws, Dana and Bobby Nelson of Blairsville, Tina and Robert Burnette of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Seth and Sarabeth Nelson, Cheyenne, Ashlyn and Sierra Burnette, many other relatives and friends also survive,
Funeral services were held on Monday Sept.4, 2006 at 11:00am from the Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Underwood officiating. Special music was presented by Paul Porter and Jonathan Adams. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, David Taylor, Matthew Taylor, William Lee, John John Jones, Vester Dills, Vernon Patterson and Jack Nelson. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.

MICHAEL STEELE KAPLER
Mr. Michael Steele Kapler age 53 of Whatever Way Blairsville passed away suddenly on Wed. April 11, 2007 in Orlando, FL. Mr. Kapler was born on Feb.10, 1954 in Lakewood, NJ., the son of Mary Joorman Kapler and the late John Kapler. Michael graduated from the Divers Training Academy in Ft. Pierce, FL. and worked as a Commercial Diver, later he started his own Paint Contracting Business( Mike Kapler Painting). He also worked in the Hotel Business. Michael was a Naturalist and Conservationist. In his younger years he was an avid Surfer, but his main hobby was Arrowhead Collecting as he wanted to preserve our Native American History. He was an extraordinary Human Being and a wonderful father, husband and a good friend to many.
Surviving Michael are his loving wife, Yajaira Lissette Kapler of Blairsville, three daughters and one son in law, Gerry and Justin Dunbar of Deltona, FL., Lissette Kapler and Kamila Kapler both of Blairsville, mother, Mary Kapler of Blairsville, step mother, Madaline Kapler of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Janie Hall of Hobe Sound, FL., f our sisters and two brother in laws, Lynda and Richard Akers of Tavares, FL., Cynthia Hodal of Deland, FL., June and Ronald Laster ofTaveres, FL., Julie Parson of TX., mother in law, Candida Monasterios of Orlando, FL., father in law, Dominick Giannelli of Folson, CA., sister in law, Xiomara Giannelli of Orlando, FL., several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

GENEVA MARY BROWN
Mrs. Geneva Mary Brown age 73 of Hwy 76 Young Harris passed away on Thursday April 12, 2007 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on April 15, 1933 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Will McClure and the late Beulah Thomas McClure. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Brown in 1991 and also by two sons, Gary and Billy Brown. She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. Mrs. Brown was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are two daughters and one son in law, Betty Totherow of Young Harris, Jennifer and Danny Stiles of Turtletown, TN., one son and daughter in law, Larry and Rita Brown of Blairsville, one sister, Betty Davis of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Kristy Martin, Alisa Hill, Summer Okelly, Autumn Brown, Ashley Brown and Emily Brown, five great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Sunday April 15, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. William Sisum officiating. Special music was presented by the Hogsed’s. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Kenneth Pickelsimer, Danny Stiles, Tim Ingram, William Young, Dusty Young and Tony Young. iIntermentfollowed in the family cemetery in Young Harris. JOHN SEDOR
US Marines
Mr. John Sedor age 93 of Highland Trace Hayesville, NC., passed away on Saturday April 14, 2007 in the Angel Medical Center in Franklin following an extended illness. Mr. Sedor was born on Dec.8, 1913 in Perth Amboy, NJ., the son of the late Anthony Sedor and the late Anna Kostyk Sedor. He was a veteran of the US Marines. He retired from the Anaconda Copper Works in Perth Amboy in 1976 as a Lab Technician with over forty five years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Sutch Sedor. Mr. Sedor was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Sedor are three daughters and two son in laws, Priscilla and Anton Stab of Hayesville, Beverly Swallick of Berth Amboy, NJ., Geraldine and Addison Hodges of Lake Susie, Fl., one sister, Anita Lorfing of NJ., four grandchildren, Keith Kirchner, Cheryl, Kimberly and Richard Swallick, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey with interment following in the Alpine cemetery in Perth Amboy, NJ. FRED EUGENE BURCH
Mr. Fred Eugene Burch age 97 of Lone Ridge Rd. Hiawassee passed away on Tuesday April 17, 2007 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Burch was born on January 15, 1910 in Towns County, the son of the late Oren Burch and the late Celia Barrett Burch. He was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Faye Anderson Burch, a son, Ralph Burch, two sisters, Mary Lou Burch, Maggie Lunsford, two brothers, Ed and Willis Burch. Mr. Burch was a member of Union Hill Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Burch are three daughters and two son in laws, Geneva and Rev. Harley Hunter of Hiawassee, Joann Freeman of Hiawassee, Noble and Dwight Dotson of Easley, SC., one son and daughter in law, Buren and Judy Burch of Blairsville, one sister, Nora Mae Barrett of Clarksville, daughter in law, Louise Burch of Albany, GA., eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four step great great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 19, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Union Hill Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Hoyt Allen officiating. Special music will be presented by the Union Hill Methodist church choir. The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 1-2pm.The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stanley and Randy Hunter, Donald and Edward Dotson, William Smith and Justin Mathis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, O. C. Burch, Ricky, Larry and Phillip Barrett. iIntermentwill follow in the Burch Cemetery. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

HAROLD LIEDOFF ALLEN

Mr. Harold Liedoff Allen age 89 of Tanyard St. Blairsville, GA., formerly of Marshall, MN., and also of Clyde, KS., passed away on Thursday Nov.10, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Allen was born on Aug.23.1916 in Clyde, KS., the son of the late Walter Allen and the late Daisy Odgers Allen. He was a Veteran of the US Army of WWII, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hjordis Bjornebo Allen in 2003, A son, Wayne Allen in 1983, two sisters, Alberta Snavley and Edna Hershel and a brother, Vern Allen. Mr. Allen was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mr. Allen are one son and daughter in law, Dale and Sharon Allen of Hayesville, NC., one daughter and son in law, Barbara and Horace Smith of Blairsville, five Grandchildren, Eric Smith, Carmon Schnoor, Nicole Van den Sanden, Dr. Denise Allen and Jennifer Aase, Five Great-Grandchildren, Sydney and Jeremy Smith, Caroline and Meridith Aase and Grace Van den Sanden, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date from the Zion Lutheran church and cemetery in Clyde, KS., and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Allens memory.

Mrs. Annie Mae Hughes age 93 of Plott Town Rd. Young Harris passed away on Saturday Nov.12, 2005 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Hughes was born on March 24, 1912, the daughter of the late Alfred Kuykendall and the late Maggie Henson Kuykendall. She was a native and lifelong resident of Towns County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hughes in 1945, son, Albert Hughes in 1975, Grandson, Ricky Hughes in 1960, two sisters, Bert Nichols and Gustie Silvey, Brothers, Harry, Bunt, George, Auther and Fannin Kuykendall. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Old Union Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Hughes are one daughter, Maudine Fortenberry of Blairsville, three sons and two daughter in laws, Lewie and Maxine Hughes of Young Harris, Frank and Mable Hughes of Marietta, Bud Hughes of Mayesville, three sisters, Inez Townsend, Essie Hood and Alma Gibson all of young Harris, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday Nov.14, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lester Sutton and Rev. Billy Stiles officiating. Special music will be presented by Ned Wilcoxin. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff and Randy Hughes, Greg Fortenberry, Justin Moody, Matthew Youngblood and Marty Hughes. iIntermentwill follow in the Old Union Baptist church cemetery. Mrs. Jessie Geraldean Combs age 92 of Bitter Creek Place Blairsville, formerly of Palmetto and Bradenton, FL. passed away on Tuesday Nov.15, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Combs was born on Jan.7, 1913 in Littlestown, PA., the daughter of the late Paul Masomheimer and the late Molly Rider Masonheimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell ("Doc") Combs in 1963.Mrs.Combs was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County.
Surviving Mrs. Combs are one daughter and son in law, Susan and Robert Langman of Blairsville, four sons and daughter in laws, Alton and Sue Combs of Twin River, MN., Russell and Ann Combs of Bradenton, FL., Paul and Charlotte Combs of New Port Ritchie, FL., Charles and Celeste Combs of Brooksville, FL., one brother, Buddy Masonheimer of Palmetto, FL. seventeen Grandchildren, seven Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment will be held from the Skyway Memorial Gardens cemetery in Palmetto, Fl. at a later date and will be announced. Mrs. Mary Jane Brackett age76 of Haralson Drive Blairsville passed away on Tuesday Nov.15, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Brackett was born on Nov.3, 1929 in Union County, The daughter of the late Sherman Bridges and the late Lillie Collins Bridges. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband Max Brackett in 2002, a daughter, Angie Voe Brackett Miles in 1980, three brothers, Doyle, Loy and Roy Bridges, three sisters, Velva Souther, Lela Hughes and Joyce Wyatt. Mrs. Brackett was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brackett are two daughters and one son in law, Linda C. Cason of Scottsdale, AZ., J. Diane (Brackett) and Tommy and Stephens of Blairsville, three sisters and brother in laws, Lois and Olin Hughes of Young Harris, Charlene and C.D. Griggs and Betty and Bud Rose all of Blairsville, six Grandchildren, Kevin Cason, Colleen Cason, Clint Seabolt, Mary Beth Miles, Dereck Stephens and Dana Stephens, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Billy Joe Clark age 43 of Hicks Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Clark was born on Nov.10, 1963 in Knoxville, TN., the son of the late Joseph Clark and the late Willie Sowards Clark. He was a lifelong resident of Union County, GA. and Cherokee, County, NC. B. J. loved fishing, hiking, camping and the great outdoors. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and was a big Nascar fan. Music was a big part of his life and in his younger years had played in a band. Mr. Clark was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Clark are his wife, Dana Smith Clark of Blairsville, three sons, Casey Shadix of Raleigh, NC., Dustin and Cody Meeker of Blairsville, four daughters, Diamond Clark of Blairsville, Autumn Clark of Hayesville, Journey Clark of Andrews, NC., Kacey Clark of Lake City, FL., three sisters and one brother in law, Micki and Randall Pruitt of Lake City, FL., Vicki Croft of Jennings, FL., Samantha Whitner of Andrews, NC., three grandchildren, Natalie, Kaden and Louie Whitt, mother in law, Donna Hammond of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Joshua Alan (Better known as Josh) Jones age 19 of Brooke Lane Blairsville passed away on Monday July 2, 2007 at his home following a sudden illness. Josh was born on Feb.25, 1988 in Hall County, GA., the son of Gary Alan Jones and Sheila Morris Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School System. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His hobbies were riding horses, motorcycles and being with his friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Grover Morris in 1980.Josh was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Josh are his parents, Gary and Sheila Jones of Blairsville, two brothers, Joey Jones of Blairsville and Jamie Lunsford of Blairsville, maternal grandmother, Viva Morris of Suches, paternal grandparents, Arnold and Billie Jones of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 5, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Sisum, Rev. Chad Sisum and Rev. Randolph Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Casey and Britt Jones. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stuart Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Pepper Ledbetter, David Burrell, Christopher Ledbetter, Mitchell Foster, Little Randy Ledford and Josh Cook. Mrs. Hazel Birdell Colbert age 85 of Crawford Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday July 7, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Colbert was born on Nov.30, 1921 in Robinsville, NC., the daughter of the late Casey V. Jones and the late Mary R. Anderson Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris George Colbert in 2006, three brothers, Harold, Clyde and Toby Jones, and a sister, Lina Seabolt. Mrs. Colbert was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Colbert are two daughters and one son in law, Jo and Carroll Weaver of Blairsville, Elouise Weaver of Douglasville, two sons and daughter in laws, Rev. James and Sharon Ingram of Harem, GA., C. A. and Beverly Ingram of MA., five sisters, Ida Jackson of Blairsville, Ruth Payne of Forest Park, GA., Shirley Moore of Fayettville, Bobbie Lou Gentry of Forest Park, Polly Henson of Blairsville, two brothers, Jack Jones of Blairsville and Rev. Tommy Jones of Blairsville, one hundred and three grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 9, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Ingram and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by the Dyer Family. The grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. iIntermentwill follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
