Mrs. Rebecca Elaine (Betty known as Becky) Durkin age 52 of Chestnut Oak Lane Blairsville passed away on Sunday July 15, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Durkin was born on Jan.5, 1955 in Hall County, GA., the daughter of Harvey Crawford and Christine Adams Crawford. She had made her home in Blairsville since 1998, moving here from Gainesville. Becky was a mighty prayer warrior for the Lord. Mrs. Durkin was a member of New Hope Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Durkin are one daughter and son in law, April and Dean Cook of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Gabriel and Lori Watson of Oakwood, GA., mother, Christine Spain of Blairsville, father, Harvey Crawford of MO., aunt, Carolyn Lancaster of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Abby, Dalton, Reid, Savanna and Jerin, cousins, Gene and Faye Phillips of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2007 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon McDonald officiating. Special music was presented by Alice McDonald, Heidi Sosebee, Cindy Whitmore and Sandy Gribble. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Chip Cribble, Stacy Strickland, Rodney Beasley, Gabriel Watson, Dean Cook and Johnny Whitmore. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm.

Mrs. Lillie Daphnie Dockery age 47 of Dockery St. Young Harris passed away on Saturday July 2, 2005 in the Chatuge Regional nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Dockery was born on Sept. 8, 1957 in Rome, GA., the daughter of the late Donald Helton and the late Rosita Shedd Helton. She had been a resident of Towns and Union Counties for the past thirty years. Mrs. Dockery was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Dockery are her loving husband of fifteen years, Junior Dockery of Young Harris, two daughters and one son in law, Tammy and Mike Bitner, Tina Chaes all of Columbus, GA, one son Billy Jones of Columbus, One brother, Kenneth Helton of Calhoun, GA., four sisters and two brother in laws, Carolyn and Ronald Dunn of Caloun, Frankie Cooper of Waynesville, GA., Tracy Allen of Fairmount, GA., Michelle and Edgar Lee of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Kasey and Cody, Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday July 4, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Lillie's favorite selection of hymns were presented for the funeral. Mr. Cecil Lee Anderson age 40 of Picklesimer Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday July 5, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Anderson was born on Oct. 15, 1964 in Union County, The son of Robert Anderson and Donnie Grant Anderson. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Anderson are his parents, Robert and Donnie Anderson of Blairsville, Five sisters and four brother in laws, Ann and Ottis Franklin of Blairsville, Brenda and John Chambers of Blairsville, Dora Appel Cook of Blairsville, Becky and Tim Rich of Blairsville, Peggy and Ken Denning of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister in law, James Anderson of Blairsville, Brandon and Milisia Anderson of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday July 8, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Travis Gibson, David Franklin, Kenny White, Charles Gibson, Chris Anderson, Melvin Gibson, Tim Rich. LOUIS EDWARD BIGGER
Mr. Louis Edward Bigger age 89 of Stonehenge Drive Blairsville passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Bigger was born on Sept.30, 1915 in Parlier, CA., The son of the late James Edward Bigger and the late Mabel Feit Bigger. He had retired from the Madera, CA. Elementary School where he served as Principle for over thirty five years. He also retired as CEO from the Madera Federal Credit Union with thirty five years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Bigger in 1998 and by a sister, Lois Guyett in 2005.Mr. Bigger was a member of the CA. Retired Teachers Assc., A member of the Masonic Lodge in Madera, And also was a member of the Madera Presbyterian Church.
Surviving Mr. Bigger are one son and daughter in law, John and Joyce Bigger of Warne, NC., eight grandchildren, John Riley Bigger of Fresno, Ca., Kelli Marie Romero, Brett, Shawn, Chad and Bryan Bigger all of Santa Maria, CA., twelve great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

DALTON RAY HOWELL
Mr. Dalton Ray Howell age 27 of Mull Rd. Morganton, GA. passed away on Sunday July 17, 2005 in Van Texas following an accident. Mr. Howell was born on Oct.31, 1977 in Mobile, AL., The son Gary Howell and Rose Deese Howell. He Graduated from North Georgia College and Georgia Technical School. He had just received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. At the time of his death he was employed with Cherokee Heating and Air. One of his favorite past times was bull riding, which he had started competing in at the age of seventeen and had competed in many rodeos in the tri state area.Mr. Howell attended Refuge Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Howell are his Mother and father, Gary and Rose Howell of Morganton, Two sisters and brother in laws, Tina and Mike Roberts of Calhoun, Patricia and Johnny Holland of Wildwood, FL., Two brothers and one sister in law, Nathan Howell of Blairsville, Johnny and Pam Howell of Calhoun, Nieces and Nephews, Zyndel, Eric, Allen, Stacy, Maria, Dominique and Deonna, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Annabelle Edwards age 93 of Mocking Bird Trail Blairsville passed away on Friday Jan. 27, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Edwards was born on Jan.23, 1913 in Hillsboro, TN., The daughter of the late Elbert W. Wilder and the late Ida Ellen Jackson Wilder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Stanley Edwards in 2003.She had lived in Blairsville for the past thirty years, moving here from Hialeah, FL. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Blairsville Church of God.
Surviving Mrs. Edwards are one daughter and son in law, Mitzie and Jack Baker of Albany, GA., one son, David Stanley Edwards of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister in law, Lloyd and Mary Wilder of S.C., Elbert Wilder Jr. of Ohio, five Grandchildren, Debbie Gannon, Jack Baker Jr., George Baker, David Edwards Jr. and Michelle Edwards, twelve Great-Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Joseph Thomas Vella age 89 of Vella Ridge Lane Hayesville passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2006 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Vella was born on Dec. 25, 1916 in New York City, NY., The son of the late Gennaro Vella. He had retired from the Bulova a Watch company after several years of service. He was preceded in death by Rose Schalaba in 1999.Mr. Vella was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Vella are one son and daughter in law, Gennaro and Carol Vella of Hayesville, one daughter and son in law, Vivian and Edward Piwower of Sarasota, FL., one brother, Frank Vella of Babalon, NY., four Grandchildren, Marline Vella, Joseph Vella, Stephen Piwower and Michael Piwower, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Verena Stavely Keim age 81 of W & B Drive Blairsville formerly of Mulberry, FL. passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Keim was born on July 28, 1924 in Stilson, GA., The daughter of the late Orlando Stavely and the late Alma Mock Stavely. Before her retirement she was employed as a Librarian with the Polk County School System. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick M. Keim, brothers, Dick, Burcer and Neal Stavely. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all. Mrs. Keim was a member of the Mulberry First United Methodist church.
Surviving Mrs. Keim are her loving husband of sixty two years, Russell Keim of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Robert and Irene Keim of Bushnell, FL., three daughters and one son in law, Russalyn K. Hernandez of Mulberry, FL., Mary Beth Keim of Blairsville, Karol Ann Keim of Blairsville, Kathy and Jesse Minter of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Verena Wooten, Bradey Kemp, Hubert Hernandez, Russell Hernandez, Keim Minter, Troy Lignitz and John Lignitz, eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Queen age 38 of Sugar Ridge Drive Cleveland. GA. passed away on Friday July 14, 2006 following a brief illness. Mrs. Queen was born on July 10, 1968 in Alexandria, VA., The daughter of the late Charles Albert Payne and the late Nancy Lee Kerns Payne. Mrs. Queen was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Payne are her loving husband of eleven years, Ray Queen of Cleveland, three daughters and one son in law, Patricia and Christopher Jewel of Jacksonville, FL., Theresa Covington of Orange County, VA., Ashley Queen of Northport, FL., one brother and sister in law, Charles and Rachael Payne of Fredericksburg, VA., one sister and brother in law, Tammy and Joe Payne of Woodbridge, VA., four grandchildren, Danielle, Amber, Christopher and Cameron, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives also survive.

Mr. Paul Kowall age 88 of Arrowood Pointe Blairsville, formerly of Winterhaven and also of Lakeland FL., passed away on Monday July 17, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Kowall was born on May 16, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY., The son of the late John Kowalski and the late Veronica Nowacki Kowalski. He was Chief and Director of the Fireman’s Vocational School in Bethpage, Long Island, NY. He was also a lifetime volunteer Fireman. He lived for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren which he found much pleasure in. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Pabst Kowall and a sister, Eleanor Petrullo. Mr. Kowall was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Kowall are one daughter and son in law, Joan and Carl Anderson of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, John and Barbara Kowall of Levittown, NY., three grandchildren, Keri Young, Carl Anderson Jr., and John Kowall, three great-grandchildren, Jordan Young, Andrew Young and Collin Anderson, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Priscilla May Brown of Stonehenge Murphy Hwy Blairsville, formerly of Clearwater, FL. passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on Sept.29, 1911 in Gloucester, MA., The daughter of the late Harold Orne and the late Catherine MacCloud Orne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph K. Brown, two sisters, Shirley Jackson and Audrey Young and by a brother, Harold orne Jr. Mrs. Brown was of the Episcopal faith.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are one son and daughter in law, Robert and Barbara Ann Thompson of Hiawassee, two grandchildren, Laura Osborne of Terrell, NC., David Thompson of Manderville, LA., four great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Alfred Ernest Dixon age 93 of Stable Gate Dr. Blairsville passed away on Monday Dec.18, 2006 following an extended illness. Mr. Dixon was born on March 20, 1913 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, The son of the late Ernest Victor Dixon and the late Ann Sarah Fuller Dixon.He retired in 1975 from Niagara Mohawk Electric after over forty two years of service. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Dixon, a brother, Douglas (Bud) Dixon, son, David Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Coosa United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Dixon are two daughters and son in laws, Carol and Dale Allison of Blairsville, Joan and Roy Mons of Walworth, NY., one son and daughter in law, Ronald and Deb Dixon of Moline, IL., three grandchildren, Christa Brockway, Stephen Allison, Caleb Dixon, five great-grandchildren, Hope, Grace, Thomas, Nathanel and Joy, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Ernest Glenn Johnson age 65 of Golden Ridge Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday Dec.18, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born on Jan.16, 1941 in Evanston, IL., The son of the late Else Von Reinsperq Johnson and William Glenn Johnson. He retired in 2001 from the United Systems and Software Inc. where he served as their Accountant. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Johnson are his father, William Glenn Johnson of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Thomas W. and Robin Johnson of Orlando, FL., one sister, Margaret C.Johnson of Clarkston, Mi., many other relatives and friends also survive.
