Mrs. Estelle Barrett Allen age 89 of Julius Chambers Rd. Blairsville formerly of Gainesville, passed away on Friday August 18, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Allen was born on July 22, 1917 in Hall County, GA., The daughter of the late Howard Barrett and the late Lula White Barrett. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley (J. W.) Allen in 1978, a son, Bobby Joe Allen in 1995.Mrs.Allen was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Allen are son and daughter in law, Benny and Ruenelle Allen of Blairsville, daughter, Joan A. Allen of Gainesville, son and daughter in law, Roy and Judy M. Allen of Pendergrass, ten grandchildren, Randy, Wesley and Mary Beth Allen, Bambi and Rodney Stone, Jill and Robert Chambers, Leyta Jordan, Mike Lance and Aleah Brown, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday Aug. 19, 2006 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Fred Lodge officiating. Special music will be presented by Nelson and Mildred LeCroy. iIntermentand graveside services will follow at 2:00pm from the Memorial Park cemetery in Gainesville. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from6-9pm.

MERL WILLIAM MATHESON Jr.
Mr. Merl William Matheson Jr. age 54 of Hayesville and also of Candler, NC., passed away on Monday August 21, 2006 in Hayesville. Mr. Matheson was born on Aug. 29, 1952 in Hayesville, NC., The son of the late Merl William Matheson Sr. and the late Hazel Morris Matheson. Mr. Matheson attended the Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Matheson are his wife of eighteen years, Peggy Shelledy Matheson of Candler, NC., two daughters and one son in law, Cheryl and Mace Horwitz of Coral Springs, FL., Kathy Graddy of Thousand Oaks, CA., one brother and sister in law, Grady and Alice Matheson of Hayesville, four sisters and two brother in laws, Alice and Steve Coleman, Virginia Matheson, Frances and Charles Terrell, Beatrice Long all of Hayesville, five grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 27, 2006 at 2:00pm from the North Mt. Zion Church of God with the Rev. Reburn Wilson officiating. Special music will be presented by Merl's family members. iIntermentwill follow in the Pine Grove cemetery in Hayesville.

MARIE BROWN
Mrs. Marie Brown age 81 of Still Meadow Ct. Young Harris passed away on Sunday March 25, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born on Oct. 3, 1925 in Louisbiurg, TN., the daughter of the late Willie Wall and the late Bessie Allen Wall. She had retired from the State of Tennessee Government after several years of services. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Clark in 2005.Mrs.Brown attended Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are one daughter and son in law, Sharee and Gary Precanico of Hollywood, FL., one grandson, Scott and Ellen Stephens of Young Harris, three great-grandchildren, Austin, Alexis and Skyler, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday March 27, 2007 at 10:00am from the Woodlawn cemetery in Nashville, TN. with the Rev. David Wall officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Brown’s memory.

FRED HARVEY WALL

Mr. Fred Harvey Wall, age 67 of Ramey Mtn., Hiawassee, GA, formerly of Deltona Fl., passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007. Fred was born on Oct. 28, 1939, in Warrick, NY., the son of late Fred Bryce Wall and the late Lois Bender Wall. Fred was a veteran of the US Army and served in Turkey throughout the Vietnam War. Fred received a Bachelors degree from Franklin and Marshal College in Pennsylvania and a Masters degree from the University of Miami in Florida. Fred enjoyed collecting coins, gardening, camping, boating, observing nature and reading. Fred's main passion was following the stock market. When Fred lived in Homestead, Fl. he owned and maintained a lime grove. Fred also had been a member of the Cotillian Dance Club and the Civitan Club. Fred was a teacher for over 30 years and taught Junior High School English and History and couched various sports. For most of his career, Fred taught at Redland Middle School. Fred attended Sharp Memorial Methodist Church.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Warren Wall of Hiawassee, one daughter, Elizabeth Wall Bowers of Miami, Fl., one son, Mark Edward Wall of Hayesville, NC., 6 grandchildren - Zachary, Brianna, Kayla, Lena, Sophia, and Bryce, son-in-law, Anthony Bowers, and daughter-in-law, Annette Wall.
A memorial service will be held at their home. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Fred's memory.

Mrs. Lynn McCormack Stultz age 75 of Kendrick Rd. Blairsville formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., passed away on Saturday March 31, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Stultz was born on April 17, 1931 in Covina, CA., the daughter of the late Roy McCormack and the late Gladys Dilley McCormack. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Mrs. Stultz attended the Blairsville Christian Center.
Surviving Mrs. Stultz are her loving husband of fifty eight years, Richard Stultz of Blairsville, three sons and daughter in laws, Richard and Ginny Stultz of WA., Christopher and Jacqueline Stultz of Margate, FL., Timothy and Carolyn Stultz of Boca Raton, FL., five daughters and four son in laws, Linda and Joseph Nickerson of Blairsville, Sandra and Frank Loya of Blairsville, Teresa and Jorge Correa of Pasadena, CA., Mary Stultz of Pasadena, CA., Rita and Barry Van Beers of Blairsville, twenty three grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Monday April 2, 2007 at 4:00pm from the Blairsville Christian Center with Pastor Wofford Kelley and Pastor Chris Stultz officiating. Special music will be presented by Sarah Kelley. Mrs. Ruby Mae Brown age 84 of Gainesville Hwy Blairsville passed away on Thursday March 29, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Brown was born on Oct. 31, 1922 in Towns County, the daughter of the late Mark Moore and the late Emma Hunter Moore. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Gordon in 2004.Mrs.Brown was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are two daughters, Jozene King of Blairsville, Darla Norton of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Gerald and Charlene Brown of Stockbridge, GA., two brothers and one sister in law, W. G. and Lilly Moore of Eatonton, GA., Vaughn Moore of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Tammy Arp of Myrtle Beach, SC., Cody Norton, Sheila Cash, Sherrie Stover and Sheryl Copeland all of Blairsville, six great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Danny White officiating. Mrs. Faye Fransteine Lanier age 66 of Tanyard Court Blairsville formerly of Vidalia, GA. passed away on Saturday Oct. 15, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Lanier was born on Nov.7, 1938 in Vidalia, GA., The daughter of the late Bennie Winge and the late Aileen Allen Winge. Mrs. Lanier was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Lanier are two sons and one daughter in law, Billy Griffin of Baxley, GA., Phillip and Garrien Lanier of Blairsville, one daughter, Kimberly Seeba of Jacksonville, FL., one brother, Bennie H. Winge of Jacksonville, FL., three sisters, Diane Mills, Darlene Thigpen and Jackie McCall all of Lyons, GA., five grandchildren, Ashtin, William II, Kimberly, Trevor and Amber, Four great-grandchildren, Adrian, Marty, Peggy and Priscilla, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Laura Christian Payton age 35 of Evan circle Blairsville formerly of West Palm Beach, FL., passed away on Monday Oct. 17, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Payton was born on Aug. 14, 1970 in West Palm Beach. FL., The daughter of Douglas Alan Dowdy and Sara Adkins Dowdy. Laura battled Diabetes for twenty six years and after a Kidney and Pancreas transplant on Aug. 20, 1997 she gave birth to a son on Aug. 20, 1999 who was named after the doctor who performed the operation. She was employed as a Teacher with the Gilmer County Board of Education. Mrs. Payton was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Payton are her loving husband of seven years, Thomas Andrew Payton of Blairsville, one son, Zachary Burke Payton of Blairsville, Parents, Doug and Sara Dowdy of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Eric and Jennifer Dowdy of Blairsville, one sister, Susanne Dowdy of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Oct. 22, 2005 at 3:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. George Cline officiating. Mr. Wayne Richard Hunsicker age 66 of Mtn. View Rd. Murphy formerly of Blairsville passed away on Thursday Oct. 20, 2005 in the Murphy Medical Center Nursing home following an extended illness. Mr. Hunsicker was born on March 26, 1939 in Allentown, PA., The son of the late Nathan Joseph Hunsicker and the late Eva Clara bell Shellhammer Hunsicker. Mr. Hunsicker was a veteran of the US Army. He was a PGA Pro member for over ten years and also was a Golf Pro Instructor. He also was owner/operator of an automobile dealership. Mr. Hunsicker was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Hunsicker are two daughters, Claire Hunsicker of Tarpon Springs, FL., GA., Lisa Ann Hunsicker Lawrenceville, one son and daughter in law, Wayne and Erin Walton of Locust Grove, GA., two sisters, Joanne Heckman of Calloway, NJ., Lavern Cowling of Bethleham, PA., ten Grandchildren, Three Great-Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

MARTHA LOUISE COMBS
Martha Louise Combs (87) went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2006 at Union General Hospital, Blairsville, Ga. after a short illness. She was born October 30, 1918 in Tazewell, Virginia, to the late J.R. Gildersleeve and the late Laura (Beavers) Gildersleeve. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Robinson Gildersleeve, II and her husband Richard Raymond Combs.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Fulford and two sons, Richard Combs (Ann) of Orlando, Florida and Franklin Combs (J’Nai) of Murphy. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Martha moved to Florida in her early twenties where she was active in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, the Desota Celebration of Manatee County and a volunteer in the Republican party of Bradenton Florida. She was also a volunteer at Manatee Memorial Hospital thrift shop and was a member of the auxiliary of Manatee Memorial Hospital. She operated her own beauty salon for many years and was an avid bridge player. She attended the Westminister Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, FL and served as a deacon there.
She moved to Murphy, N.C. in August 2005 to live with her sister and son (Franklin and wife). She was a member of Murphy First Baptist Church and loved her church family. She loved listening to Southern Gospel music and to gospel music by Elvis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening from the Bradenton funeral home chapel with Frank and Richard Combs officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow on Friday morning May 12, 2006 at 10:00am from the SkyWay Memorial cemetery.

SUSAN GAIL HORNE
Mrs. Susan Gail Horne age 50 of Tombstone Drive Blairsville passed away on Monday May 8, 2006 in Towns County from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Horne was born on Dec. 11, 1955 in Ft. Myers, FL., The daughter of the late James Hilton and the late Margarite Snyder Hilton. At the time of her death she was employed with Regency Hospice as an RN and also at Union General Hospital. She was a dedicated nurse and her patients became part of her family. She had been a nurse for over seven years. Susan loved helping and caring for people in their last days. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a friend to all who knew her. Susan was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Susan are her loving husband of thirty two years, Alva Horne of Blairsville, three sons and two daughter in laws, Anthony and Sabrina Horne of Longwood, FL., James and Carie Horne of Blairsville, William Horne of Longwood, FL., two brothers, James Hilton and Tracy Hilton, four Sisters Ginny McCurley, Linda Levesque, Mary Anne Varna and Pat Laroque, five grandchildren, Jacob, Austin, Matthew, Halle and Amberlee Horne, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 11, 2006 at 1:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Nancy Joyner officiating. Special music will Susan’s favorite hymns. The following gentleman will serves as pallbearers, Anthony, James and William Horne, Skip Waylett, Jerry Smith, Joey Hughes, Mary Phillips and Linda Tatum. MARGARET NELL McCUTCHIN
Mrs. Margaret Nell McCutchin age 76 of Dean Gap Acres Blairsville passed away on Monday May 8, 2006 following an extended illness. Mrs. McCutchin was born on Oct. 17, 1929 in Albuquerque, NM., The daughter of the late Arthur Milligan and the late Ada Neel Milligan. She loved to knit and sew. Her favorite past time was studying the Bible. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Watson and two brothers, Paul Milligan and Neel Milligan. Mrs. McCutchin was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Blairsville.
Surviving Mrs. McCutchin are her loving husband of fifty four years, James McCutchin of Blairsville, two daughters and one son in law, Charlotte Ann Lurvey of Tampa, FL., Deborah Nell and Ronald Kelley of Athens, AL., one brother, Bob Milligan of Santa Fe, NM., two sister in laws, Madelin Moore and Margaret Milligan, two nieces, Donna Begier and Adele Bryan, nephew, Laverne Moore, five grandchildren, Karen Bynum, Jenny Neidhardt, Jeffrey, Kristi and Heather Lurvey, three great-grandchildren, Lily Neidhandt, Hailey Bynum and Kailey Neidhardt, many other relatives and friends also survive.
