Mrs. Norma Jean Cooper age 70 of Cooper’s Lane Morganton, GA. passed away on Friday May 12, 2006 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Cooper was born on April 23, 1936 in Charleston, W. V A., The daughter of the late Wilmer McCallister and the late Mae Wells McCallister.She loved to work around the house with her grandchildren. One of her favorite past times was rock collecting. She and her husband Earnest sang together at Confidence Methodist church where they attended.
Surviving Mrs. Cooper are her loving husband of twenty eight years, Earnest Cooper of Morganton, three daughters and one son in law, Regina Armstrong of Charleston, W. VA., Ronda Skiles of Dunbar, W. V A., Rochelle and Charles Harvey of Edgewood, NM., one brother and sister in law, Frank and Harriet McCallister of Scottsdale, AZ., five grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Stiles, Allison Zerkle, Ryan Harvey and Aaron Austin, one great-grandson, Peyton Skiles, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 17, 2006 at 10:00am from the Collison funeral home chapel with the Rev. Willis Scott officiating. The family will have a private visitation on Tuesday evening and a public visitation on Wednesday morning prior to the service. iIntermentwill follow in the Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

Mr. Justin Lanigan age 44 of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006. Mr. Lanigan was born on July 6, 1962 in New York, NY., The son of John Lanigan and Marilou Elsis Lanigan.He resided in Blairsville for the past eight years. Mr. Lanigan was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Lanigan are his wife, Lisa Lanigan of Blairsville, one daughter, Jodi Lanigan of Blairsville, parents, John And Marilou Lanigan of Blairsville, one sister, Judy Esposito of Blairsville, one niece, Sara Nicole Esposito of Blairsville, one nephew, Joseph Robert Esposito of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Justin helped establish and run various family businesses in and out of Union County. He was a caring and loving father and uncle. Justin will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Mr. Harold Reade age 78 of Stonebrook Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Reade was born on Oct. 25, 1928, The son of the late Frank Reade and the late Pearl Meade Reade. He retired from the US Marine Corps with over twenty five years of service. He was a member of the N. R. A., Arbor Day, the V. F. W. and the D. A. V. Mr. Reade passed away on his birthday. Mr. Reade was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving Mr. Reade are his loving wife of twenty years, Marjorie Hutchings Reade of Blairsville, two step children, Kim Gosser of Elkhart, IN., Jeffrey Staton also of Elkhart, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Merle Amanda Wactor age 56 of Pine Crest Circle Cleveland, GA. formerly of Hayesville, NC. passed away on Wednesday November 1, 2006 in the North East Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness. Mrs. Wactor was born on April 23, 1950 in Hayesville, NC., The daughter of the late J. C. White and the late Wanda Bracken White. Mrs. Wactor was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Wactor are four daughters and two son in law, Tracy and Chuck Thomason of Cleveland, GA., Debbie Crisp of Cleveland, Brandi and Zach Price of Cleveland, Patty Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC., one sister and brother in law, Linda and Tommy Moore of Hayesville, one brother and sister in law, Ricky and Pam White of Hayesville, twelve grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held on Sunday November 5, 2006 from the Meadow Grove Baptist church with the Rev. Keith Nuckolls officiating.

Mr. Robert Cecil Crisp age 84 of Whittler’s Mountain Rd. Murphy, NC. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Jan. 11, 1922 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Crisp was born on Jan.11, 1922 in Proctor, NC., the son of the late Robert Lee Crisp and the late Minnie Odessa Swanson Crisp. He was a Master Electrician by trade and was a veteran of the US Army of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty seven years, Jacquelyn Stout Crisp in 2004, also by two brothers, J. C. and Troy Crisp, and two sisters, Margie Stinson and Nina Sawyer. Mr. Crisp was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Crisp are one daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Roy Hoover of Murphy, two sons and daughter in laws, Robert and Carol Crisp and John and Joy Crisp all of Sebastain, FL., eight grandchildren, Jo Ann Smith, Crystal Holloway, John Crisp Jr., Wesley Rotgers, Robert Orin Crisp, Renee Martin, Amber Rogers and Ashton Crisp, twelve great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday Nov.3, 2006 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Loys Waters officiating. A Eulogy was given by Crystal Holloway and Robert Orin Crisp. Special music presented were some of Mr. Crisp’s favorite hymns. Mr. Raymond (Better known as Brance) Murphy age 73 of Murphy Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday June 13, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Murphy was born on Oct. 15, 1933 in Cherokee, NC., the son of the late Luther Murphy and the late Hattie Roberts Murphy. He was a veteran of the US Army with a rank as Master Sgt. He was a member of Young Cane Lodge # 597 F&AM. Brance loved Blue Grass music and enjoyed playing the guitar. His favorite hobbies were fishing and going out to eat. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Sharon Murphy in 1958.Mr.Murphy was a member of Jones Creek Church of God.

Mrs. Lois Chaney Leftwich age 68 of Sharp Top Circle formerly of Newnan, GA passed away on Wednesday June 13, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Leftwich was born on Dec. 8, 1938 in Roanoke, VA., the daughter of the late Lacy Edmond Chaney and the late Easter May Likins Chaney. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Leftwich was a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Leftwich are her loving husband of forty seven years, Gerald Leftwich of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter in law, Greg Leftwich of Sharpsburg, VA., Gary and Rebecca Leftwich of Carrollton, GA., three brothers and two sister in laws, Edmond and Ann Chaney of S. Mrs. Smith was born on Sept.2, 1923 in Baltimore, MD. the daughter of the late Charles Adolph Lorber and the late Anna Hildegarde Lorber. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. She was a retired teacher with over twenty five years of service with the Miami, FL and Bedford, PA. Schools systems. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Assn. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church.
Surviving Mrs. Smith are her loving husband of sixty two years. Fred Shannon Smith of Blairsville, formerly of Bedford, PA., their four children, Dorothy J. Mrs. Mary Giamportone age 93 of the Gainesville Hwy Blairsville, formerly of St. Clair Shores, MI., passed away on Friday Sept. 23, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mrs. Giamportone was born on Jan.6, 1912 in Anita, PA. The daughter of the late Charles Cutense and the late Bessie Dimino Cutense. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Giamportone in 1985, also by six brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Giamportone attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church.
Surviving Mrs. Giamportone are one son and daughter in law, Frank and Barbara Giamportone of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Margaret and Robert Mikszewski of Clinton Township, MI., one sister, Susan Laaks of Pittsburg, PA., one brother, Anthony Cutense of Pittsburg, Six Grandchildren, David Mikszewski, Maria Anderson, Michael, Ronald, Robert and Joseph Giamportone, Six great-grandchildren, three Great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. William Clifford DuBose age 81 of Sally Gap Trail Hayesville passed away on Saturday Sept. 24, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. DuBose was born on March 27, 1924 in San Francisco, CA., the son of the late William DuBose Sr., and the late Belle Bray DuBose. He retired from the 3-M Company with over thirty seven years of service. He was a Veteran of the Army-Air Force of WWII where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. DuBose was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd Church in Hayesville.
Surviving Mr. DuBose are his loving wife, Deanna Green DuBose of Hayesville, Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Mary Jane Johnston age 85 of Booger Hollow Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday Sept. 25, 2005 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Johnston was born on July 7, 1920 in St. Petersburg, FL., The daughter of the late Okey Russell Albright and the late Ada Viola Hoover Albright. Before her retirement she was employed with Rite-Aid Pharmacy of Blairsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam N. Johnston in 1983, and also a brother, Russell George Albright. She had made her home in Blairsville since 1983.Mrs.Johnston was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church of Blairsville.
Surviving Mrs. Johnston are two daughters, Virginia Woodside Boemanns of Blairsville, Coletta Woodside Markey of St. Petersburg, FL., one step son Skip Johnston of Sugar Tree, TN., Fiance’, Harold Kieley of Blairsville, Ten Grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Timothy Jackson Lance age 24 of Berry Lane Blairsville passed away on Saturday April 1, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a sudden illness. Mr. Lance was born on July 14, 1981 in Union County, The son of Ted Lance and Debbie Anderson Lance. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School system. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Coy Lance and an Aunt, Gayle Lance. Mr. Lance attended the North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee.
Surviving Mr. Lance are his loving wife, Shawnda Jones Lance of Blairsville, one son, William Jackson Lance of Blairsville, Father and mother, Ted and Debbie Lance of Blairsville, three sisters and two brother in laws, Karen Michelle Lance of Jasper, Jennifer and Jeff Stewart of Hayesville, Teresa and Daniel Gibbs of Blairsville, Grandparents, Ruby Jewell Lance of Blairsville, Brownlow and Velma Anderson of Hiawassee, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 3, 2006 at 2:00pm from the North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee with the Rev. Raburne Wilson officiating. Special Music will be presented by the Raburne Wilson Family and Gary Taylor. The body will lie in state at the church from 12-2pm on Monday.
