Mr. Michael Ray Dyer age 55 of Tanyard St. Blairsville passed on Tuesday May 22, 2007 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Dyer was born on March 19, 1952 in Union County, the son of the late John Franklin Dyer and the late Ida Rose Nix Dyer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Buddy Ramsey. Mr. Dyer attended Pine Top Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Dyer are one daughter and son in law, Layla and Jeremy Pate of Gainesville, three sisters and two brother in laws, Dorothy and Eugene Dyer of Blairsville, Lavada and Rachel Wilson of Blairsville, Paulette Ramsey of Cumming, GA., four brothers and sister in laws, Lewis and Olene Dyer, Crett and Merlor Dyer, Wayne and Vietta Mae Dyer, Russell and Edith Dyer, all of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Danielle and Madison San Nichols, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 24, 2007 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Dyer and Rev. Lloyd Ledford officiating. Special music will be presented by the Dennis Taylor family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Kenny, Scott, Danny, Tim and Larry Dyer, Chris Ramsey, George Dale and Jeremy Pate. iIntermentwill follow in the Pine Top Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening after 6:00pm at the funeral home.

MARK ALAN ROGERS
Dr. Mark Alan Rogers age 55 of Souther Forest rd. Blairsville formerly of Venice, FL. passed away on Wed. March 7, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Rogers was born on Aug. 10, 1951 in Centralia, IL., the son of the late Merle Rogers and the late Jane Reed Rogers. He was a Physician of Chiropractic and had retired in 1996.he was a member of the American Chiropractic Assc. Mark enjoyed motorcycling and RV traveling. Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Christian church in Centrailia, IL.
Surviving Dr. Rogers are his loving wife, Judy McVey Rogers of Blairsville, one son, Eric Rogers of Orlando, FL., three step children, Marcie and Joe Guarniere of Venice, FL., Ashley Fussell and Andrew Fussell both of Venice, FL., one brother and sister in law, Phil and Marian Rogers of Lees Summit, MO., one sister and brother in law, Eleanor and Ric Allen of Prior Lake, MN., many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 10, 2007 at 11:00am from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.Phil Rogers officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Assc.in Mr.Rogers memory. VIVIAN MAE KITTLE
Mrs. Vivian Mae Kittle age 79 of Kittle Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday March 12, 2007 in the Clay County Care Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Kittle was born on March 16, 1927 in Cleveland, OH., the daughter of the late Raymond Schafer and the late Florence Thome Schafer. She along with her husband owned and operated a roofing company for several years. They had made their home in Blairsville for the past thirty two years, moving here from Ft. Pierce, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Kittle in 2000 and by a sister, Betty Jane Duncan in 1978.Mrs.Kittle was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mrs. Kittle are two daughters and son in laws, Connie and Stanley Richardson of Blairsville, Carol and Albert Martin of Blairsville, one brother and sister in law, Robert and Mary Schafer of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., two nieces, Linda and Mike Doud, Gretchen and Steve Everman, eight grandchildren, Lesa Byrd, Nannie Loner, Kimberly Bridges, Tawana Aaron, Suzan Sanford, Tina Wade, Kristy Johnson and John Martin, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday March 15, 2007 at 7:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. TED WILLIAM COOK Jr.
US Coast Guard
Mr. Ted William Cook Jr. age 80 of Norsk Way Blairsville, formerly of Live Oak, FL. passed away on Monday March 12, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Cook was born on July 24, 1926 in St. Petersburg, FL., the son of the late Ted William Cook Sr. and the late Sarah Powell Cook. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was a member and twice Past Master of the Carlisle, AK. # 587 Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was preceded in death by a son, Ted Cook III. Mr. Cook was a member of the Melody Christian Life Center.
Surviving Mr. Cook are one daughter and son in law, Candace and D. J. Johnson of Blairsville, one sister Betty Piepho of Tampa, FL., two grandchildren, Jordan Cook and Isley Rose Johnson, aunt, Jewell Fillman of Tampa, FL., former wife, Rose Rhodes, step daughter, Sandy Cook, many other relatives and friends also survive.

KATHERINE (KAY) HOURIHAN
Mrs. Katherine (Kay) Hourihan age 103 of Blairsville passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home. She was born in Brookline, MA., to the late Julia Kelley Carey and John T. Carey. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Carey, her sister, Ellen Carey Clark and her daughter, Maureen Hourihan O’Brien. Her late husband, George Donovan Hourihan died in 1951 and Kay remained a widow for the past fifty five years. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, George V. and Tina Hourihan of Blairsville, A brother in law, J. B. Hourihan of Gainesville, FL., seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
She attended business college in Boston and worked in the Boston area. In 1934 she married
George D. Hourihan, A Miami Native and Pioneer, and moved to Miami. She remained in Miami until moving to Blairsville in 1999, to live with her son and daughter in law, George and Tina Hourihan. Kay worked as a Judicial Secretary and retired from the State of Florida. In retirement she worked as a secretary for doctors and attorneys.She also did church and hospital volunteer work. She was a world traveler and had visited the Far East, Middle East and Europe.
Kay was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Miami where she attended Mass daily. In Blairsville she was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Francis of Assissi in Blairsville and also at Holy Rosary in Miami. There will be no viewing and interment will be at the City of Miami cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assissi Building Fund Kitchen Account.

LOIS ELAINE VANHOOFT
Mrs. Lois Elaine VanHooft age 58 of Back to Nature Trail Suches passed away on Monday Jan. 29, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Vanhooft was born on May 24, 1948 in Geneva, NY., the daughter of the late Robert Vanhooft and the late Dorothy Cole VanHooft. She was a loving friend, mother and aunt. In her spare time she enjoyed puzzles, baking, bird watching and taking care of her family. Mrs. VanHooft was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mrs. VanHooft are her loving husband, Ron Kasserman of Suches, one daughter, Elaine VanHooft of Webster, NY., two brothers and one sister in law, George VanHooft, Roy and Janice VanHooft all of Boyanton Beach, FL., Niece, April and Tony Rowland of Martin, GA., great nieces and nephews, Christian, Kalee Roland, one grandson, Justin Brokaw, many other relatives and friends also survive.

DELA MAE STEPHENS
Mrs. Dela Mae Stephens age 78 of Town Mtn. Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday Jan. 30, 2007 in the Piedmont Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Stephens was born on May 2, 1928 in Union County, the daughter of the late Elmer W. Rich and the late Delilah Rich Crump. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Dela enjoyed quilting and sewing in the Winter and Gardening and canning in the Summer. She was employed with the Dress Factory for over twenty eight years. She love her family dearly and also loved her church, which she sang in the choir, had been a Sunday School Teacher and was active in Bible School. She was the longest active member (1942).She was preceded in death by her husband of forty nine years, Frank Stephens in 2001, brother, Vernon Rich and a sister, Lucille Hughes. Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Harmony grove Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Stephens are two sons and daughter in laws, Danny and Janet Stephens of Blairsville, Anthony and Mary Ann Stephens of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Robin, Curtis, Drake and Emma Stephens, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb.2, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Harley Hunter officiating. Special music will be presented by the Kelley trio. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Joey Morgan, Greg Stephens, Johnny and Darrell Stevens, Jerry Cheek and Doug Davenport. HAZEL ANDERSON
Mrs. Hazel Anderson age 98 of Forest Circle Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Jan. 31, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Anderson was born on Feb.21, 1908 in Carnot, WI., the daughter of the late Louis Hoppe and the late Alma Dahl Hoppe. She was a graduate of the Bellin Hospital School of Nursing in 1927 and was employed with the Bellin Memorial Hospital for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Anderson in 1994.Mrs.Anderson was a member of the Grace Lutheran church in Green Bay, WI.
Surviving Mrs. Anderson are one son and daughter in law, Jim and Jane Anderson of Green Bay, WI., one daughter and son in law, Judy and Fred Cone of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Mark and Marji Anderson, Gretchen and Brad Huber, Amy Cone, Andy Cone and Jeff Cone, four great-grandchildren, Bart, Janna, Hart and Andy, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date from the Nicolet Memorial Gardens and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorial may be made to your favorite charity in Mrs. Anderson’s memory.

RITA BRITTON
Mrs. Rita Britton age 94 OF Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away on Saturday Feb. 10, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Britton was born on Dec. 9, 1912 in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of the late Digby Megginson and the late Myrtle Nelms Megginson. She was preceded in death by a son, Bob Britton and a brother, Cliff Megginson. Not only was Mrs. Britton a very loving wife and mother, also a friend to all who knew her. She was an Angel in her families eyes. She was always gracious, generous and had a kind soul. Mrs. Britton was a member of the House of Prayer Church.
Surviving Mrs. Britton are loving husband of sixty eight years, Norman Britton of Britton of Blairsville, three sons and daughter in laws, Doug and Judy Britton of Blairsville, Don and Ann Britton of Blairsville, Ted and Bill Britton of Pacifica, CA., daughter in law, Mary Britton of Portage La Prairie, six grandchildren, Linda Langman, Diane Enns, Jonanthan, David, Vince and Jeff Britton, fourteen great grandchildren, Alisha, Cara and Jenaya Langman, Amy, Casandra, Alice and Emmy Britton, Jana, Ryan and Nolan Enns, Denae, Rhett, Jack and Chris Britton, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Issac William Taylor age 59 of Andrews, NC. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Thursday Feb. 15, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was born on Oct. 20, 1947 in Seamen, OH., the son of the late James Edgar Taylor and the late Jaley Elizabeth Rose Taylor. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. Isaac loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Doc and Troy Taylor. Mr. Taylor was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Taylor are his loving wife of thirty four years, Eillen Peer Taylor of Andrews, one son and daughter in law, James and Kathy Taylor of Hiawassee, seven daughters and six son in laws, Jenifer and James Profitt of Whitesburg, KY., Suzan and Mike Maddin of Blackey, KY., Melissa and Scott Selby of Andrews, NC., Jackie and Donny Patterson of Blairsville, Gail and Robert Howard of Blairsville, Arlene Owensby of Blairsville, Carol and Willy McCall of Bethlehem, PA., one brother, Lowell Taylor of Blairsville, twenty two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Ronald Dyer age 69 of Weaver Circle Blairsville passed away on Sunday Feb. 18, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Dyer was born on Oct. 29, 1937 in Union County, the son of the late Samuel Riley Dyer and the late Ruby Hazel Reid Dyer. He was employed as a Mason by trade and was well known all over the county, especially for his rock laying. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Mr. Dyer was a member of Union Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Dyer are his loving wife of forty six years, Rachel Harkins Dyer of Blairsville, four daughters and three son in laws, Audrey and Frank Reynolds Jr.of Blairsville, Connie (Dyer) and David Key of Young Harris, Tammy Dyer of Blairsville, Jayme and Eric Dills of Young Harris, three sons and two daughter in laws, Ronnie and Wanda Dyer of Jasper, Donald Dyer of Birmingham, AL., Mark and Mandy Dyer of Blairsville, one sister, Shelby Everett of Blairsville, thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Riley Dyer, Lucy Ingram, Rachel Dyer, R. Mr. Jeffery Carroll age 42 of Carroll Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday Feb. 18, 2007 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Carroll was born on Jan.11, 1965 in Union County, the son of the late Earl Harvey Carroll and the late Lucy Mae Smith Carroll. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Newman Carroll in 1998.Mr.Carroll was a member of Bethlehem Baptist church.
Surviving Mr. Carroll are four brothers and three sister in laws, Ralph and Brenda Carroll of Blairsville, David and Diane Carroll of Blairsville, Junior Carroll of Blairsville, Clyde and Donna Carroll of Blairsville, six sisters and brother in laws, Linda and Archie Patterson of Blairsville, Faye and Evin Patterson of Blairsville, Kathy and Donnie Queen of Canton, GA., Cindy and Tommy Queen of Blairsville, Rachel and Steve Woodin of FL., Dale and Jim Pressley of Murphy, NC., several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday Feb.21, 2007 at 4:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. William Sisum officiating. Special music was presented by Hubert Legg and the Faith Singers. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Tim Kirtley, Gary Jones, Willie Kerr, Michael Carroll, Wess Carroll and Darrell Allen. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ray Shook, Alvin Towe, Junior Grahm, Coty Carroll and Skip McKeral. iIntermentfollowed in the Dillard Chapel cemetery.
