Mr. Billy Mercer Davis age 77 of Black Ankle Ln. Blue Ridge, GA. formerly of Woodstock, GA. passed away on Feb. 26, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born on Oct. 30, 1929 in Davisboro, GA. the son of Gladys Mercer Davis and the late W. L. Davis. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also was a Shriner.
Surviving Mr. Davis are his loving wife of twenty four years, Cynthia Howell Davis of Blue Ridge, mother, Gladys Davis of Jacksonville, FL., two daughters, Julian Davis Cairns of Australia, Muffett Ann Ripley of Lakeland, FL., one son, Douglas Alan Davis of Roswell, GA., one step daughter, Candace Martel of Woodstock, one brother, Larry Davis, three sisters Betty Taylor, Ivelyn Davis and Frances Wallis all of Jacksonville, FL., three grandchildren, Alexes Ripley, Kaleigh and Samantha Martel, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 3, 2007 at 4:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to United Hospice in Mr. Davis’s memory.

MABEL B. GOSS
Mrs. Mabel B. Goss age 95 of Lakeside Drive Blairsville formerly of Newcomers Town, OH., passed away on Thursday March 1, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Goss was born on Dec. 21, 1911 in Helena, AR., the daughter of the late Harry Menefee and the late Arabelle Menefee. She had lived in Cleveland, OH., New Jersey and Atlanta, and had lived in Blairsville since 1993.Mrs.Goss was a loving and great mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Winfield Menefee.
Surviving Mrs. Goss are two daughters and one son in law, Patricia and Harry Williams of Blairsville, Nancy A. Eberhardt of Westerville, OH., nine grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A private family memorial service was held. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Nursing Home in Mrs. Goss’s memory.

Mr. Norman Charles Riggs age 80 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Friday March 2, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Riggs was born on July 27, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA., the son of the late Marshall Riggs and the late Henrietta Sutcliffe Riggs. He was the owner and operator of Auto Friends Inc. for over fifteen years. Mr.Riggs was an Elder, Deacon and Choir member of the Roxborough and the Mountain Presbyterian church.
Surviving Mr. Riggs are his loving wife of sixty years, Dorothy Landis Riggs of Blairsville, two sons and daughter in laws, Norman Kenneth and Pamela Riggs of Toms River, NJ., Glen and Mary Riggs of Harleysville, PA., two daughters and son in laws, Elaine and Daniel Moss of Blairsville, Melanie and Joseph DelBorrello of Gilbertsville, PA., seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services were held on Monday March 5, 2007 at 11:00am from the Mountain Presbyterian church with the Rev. K. Travis Adams officiating. iIntermentwill follow at a later date in the Westminister cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice in Mr. Riggs memory.

MILES E. TAYLOR
Mr. Miles Taylor age 66 of Cardinal Ln. Formerly of Blairsville passed away on Friday March 2, 2007 in the St. Josephs Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Mr. Taylor was born on July 21, 1940 in Pikeville, KY., the son of the late Lilburn Taylor and the late Hanna Stevens Taylor. He had worked for the American Spring & Steel in Ohio before moving to Blairsville about twelve years ago. Miles was a man who loved his children and who his children dearly loved him. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Mashall, Paul and Martin Taylor and by a sister, Ruth Taylor. Mr. Taylor was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Taylor are two daughters and one son in law, Brenda and Gary Twiggs of Blue Ridge, Mindy Taylor of Blairsville, two sons and daughters in laws, Matt and Sonia Taylor of Blairsville, Mike and Pam Taylor of Rootstwon, OH., one brother and sister in law, Robert and Pauletta Taylor of Millstone, KY., five sisters and three brothers in laws, Viola and Dennis Short of Corygon, IN., Vina Blair of Vanworth, OH., Shirley and Jesse Rose of Dry Ridge, KY., Wanda Taylor of Molten, GA., Lucy and Ronnie Smith of Sandy Hook, KY., nine grandchildren, Logan, Chelsea, Leanna, Deven, Chris, Shane, Kyle, Nikki and Tori, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 5, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell, Rev. Charles Abernathy and Rev. Earl Pickelsimer officiating. Special music will be presented by Charles Abernathy and Dorothy Pickelsimer. Mr. Richard E. Staelens age 75 of Blairsville formerly of Conway, MA., passed away on Sunday March 4, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Staelens was born on Nov.17, 1931 in Conway, MA., the son of the late Ernest Staelens and the late Josephine Murray Staelens. Richard was a resident of Conway, MA., for seventy two years and a local mason contractor.
He is survived by his wife Karen of Blairsville, two daughters, Diana Thornton of Deerfield, MA., and Heidi Riordan of Conway, MA., two sons, Davis Staelens of Gill, MA., Aaron Staelens of Richmond, NH., twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Lou Fortier and her husband Gerald, SO. Deerfield, MA., and Barbara Rzasa of Chicopee, MA., several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Richard was educated in Conway and Deerfield Schools. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was Commander of VFW Post 8503 in Shelburne Falls in the 1970’s.He was a lifelong member of the Conway Sportsman’s Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

MARCUS RALPH BAGGETT

Mr. Marcus Ralph Baggett age 79 of Hester Drive Blairsville passed away on Saturday Jan. 20, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Baggett was born on March 29, 1927 in Feldsmere, FL., the son of the late William Baggett and the late Martha Bradshaw Baggett. He was employed with the Kennedy Space Center as an Engineer which he was so proud of. He was listed in the Smithsonian Institute as one of the Engineers who worked on the Saturn 5 Space Shuttle and was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Assc. Marcus loved his family and church and also loved playing the piano. His Pastor, family and friends compared him to Jimmy Stuart. He was a veteran of the US Air Core of WWII. Mr. Baggett was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Surviving Mr.Baggett are his loving wife of forty one years, Neva Viola Brown Baggett of Blairsville, their children, Donna and Karl Amidon of West Mont, IL., Gary and Cindy Baggett of Joliet, IL., Jeffrey and Tina Baggett of El Paso, IL., Gilda McIntosh of Spring Hill, TN., Frank Guynn of King George, VA., one brother and sister in law, Robert and Billie Baggett of Denver, CO., one sister and brother in law, Martha and Tom Mier of Lake City, FL., ten grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, Melissa, Angie, Amy, Abby, Mollie, Tammy, Paige and Stacy, seven great-grandchildren many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Jan.23, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Blairsville Church of Christ with Minister, Terry Stuart, Minister, Aaron Stanley and Mark Cargill officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Mark Cargill, Aaron Stanley, Jake Colwell, Nathan Amidon, Benjamin Amidon and Rusty Logan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group of the Blairsville Church of Christ and the Members of the Experimental Air Craft Assc. iIntermentwill follow in the Union Memory Gardens cemetery with the North GA. Mrs. Elsie Katherine Dean age 70 of Jones Creek Rd. S. Blairsville passed away on Saturday Jan. 20, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Dean was born on April 21, 1936 in Littcarr, KY., the daughter of the late Ted Tolliver and the late Annie Thornsbury Tolliver. She and her husband Glen owned and operated the Georgia Trader, which was located on the Blue Ridge Hwy for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty three years, Glen R. Dean in 1995.Mrs.Dean was a member of New Hope Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Dean are two daughters and one son in law, Elinda Mears of Blairsville, Pamela and Danny Matheson of Blairsville, two brothers, Tommy Tolliver of Sevierville, TN., Ewins Tolliver of Ermine, KY., three sisters, Zola Miles of Premium, KY., Geraldine Lowe of Ebeton, KY., Irene McPeeks of Whitesburg, KY., six grandchildren, Glen Santiago, Glen Summerlin, Millie Milagros Santiago, James Mears III, Ernie Cardona Sr., Eric Figurroa, eleven great-grandchildren, Chelsie, Joseph, Kayla, Candice, Marissa, Haley, Ernie, Mariah, Arnold, Joel and Caitlin, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Maxine Henderson Sims age 74 of Rossville, GA., formerly of Blairsville passed away on Monday Jan. 22, 2007 in the Ft. Oglethorpe Nursing Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Sims was born on Feb.7, 1932 in Union County, the daughter of the late William H. Henderson and the late Onnie Lou Smith Henderson. She had retired from the Signal Knitting Mill of Chattanooga, TN., with over twenty one years of service. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Fletcher, Bly, Rayford and Don Henderson, two sisters, Mary Lou Klassen and Susie Cordell. Mrs. Sims was a member of Ebenezer Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs.Sims are her loving husband of forty nine years, Harold Sims of Rossvile, GA., one brother, Randall Henderson of Blairsville, two sisters, Nina Bible of Chattanooga, Regina Morgan of Rossville, one brother in law, Tom Cordell of Ringold, GA., nieces and nephews, Yvonna Smith and Gail Weaver both of Blairsville, Mike Bible of Ringold, Angie Carter of Chattanooga and Ricky Klassen of Ringold, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Bruno Dominick Suraci age 73 of Deer Run Rd. Blairsville, formerly of Ft. Pierce, FL. passed away on Thursday Jan. 25, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Suraci was born on April 1, 1933 in Hazelton, PA., the son of the late Dominick Suraci and the late Camille Suraci. He was a veteran of the US Marines of the Korean War. Mr. Suraci attended the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Mr. Frank Isador Emerine Jr. age 86 of Emerine Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday Dec. 12, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Emerine was born on Nov.15, 1919 in Sullivan, Indiana, The son of the late Frank Emerine Sr. and the late Lillian Eckert Emerine. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 295.Mr.Emerine was a member of the House of Prayer.
Surviving Mr. Emerine are his loving wife of sixty six years, Joyce Barry Emerine of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Sharon and Robert Lanham of Clay, W. VA, two sons and daughter in laws, Frank Emerine III and his wife Nancy of Bradenton, FL., Barry and Diane Emerine of Blairsville, five Grandchildren, Janet Eastham, Doug Emerine, Stacy Raper, Jace Emerine and Michael Lanham, seven Great-Grandchildren, Kyle Eastham, Hunter Emerine, Kaley Raper, Michael Raper III, Zachery Raper, Brandon Lanham and Cassidy Lanham, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Charlie Claude Johnson age 80 of John Smith Rd. East Blairsville passed away on Tuesday Dec. 20, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an a brief illness. Mr. Johnson was born on Aug. 20, 1925 in Lake City, SC., The son of the late E. B. Johnson and the late Bertha Mason Johnson. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He and his wife had made their home in Blairsville for the past twenty years, moving here from Atlanta and had also lived in Castleberry, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Mr. Johnson was a member of St. Clare’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving Mr. Johnson are his loving wife of sixty years, Barbara Olyott Johnson of Blairsville, Two sons, Stephen Alan Johnson of Gainesville, FL., Randy W. Johnson of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Susan Johnson officiating. Special music will be presented by Susan Johnson and Roy Johnson. Military Honors will be conducted by the North GA. Honor Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.

Mr. Yul (Roy) Kuk Kim age 46 of Mt. Valley Ct. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday Dec. 20, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Kim was born on April 20, 1959 in Korea, The son of the late Jae Hak Kim and the late Young Ja Shim Kim. He had made his home in Blairsville for the past seven years. He was employed at the time of his death by sun poultry.
Surviving Mr. Kim are two daughters, In Ae Kim of Atlanta, Sin Ae Kim of Seoul Korea, Two sisters, Three brothers all of Korea, His Fiancee, Yong Deslandes of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Dec. 23, 2005 at 7:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steven Kim officiating. iIntermentwill follow at a later date in Korea. Flowers are accepted or in lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Mr. Kims memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm.
