Master Cameron Chase Peacock
Master Cameron Chase Peacock, infant son of Jessica Parker, of Blackshear died Monday morning in Guyton, following a brief illness.
He is survived by his mother Jessica Parker, Blackshear; a brother Caleb Peacock, Atlanta; grandparents Buddy Peacock, Blackshear; Debbie Peacock, Waycross; great -grandparents Ethell Thornton, Blackshear and Warren and Carolyn Fox, Blackshear; an aunt Jaimie Peacock, Blackshear, loving Godparents Robin and Gina Crawford, Blackshear and a cousin Madison Dryden, also of Blackshear and many other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Brittanie Lloyd
Brittanie Lloyd, 21, of 910 Sebring Court, Apt. 39, Tallahassee, FL, died Friday, November 17, 2006, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was the daughter of Claudette V. Tomlin and James Lloyd, both formerly of Blackshear.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Jacobs Funeral Home of Blackshear.
A.C. Patterson
A. C. Patterson, 86, passed away early Monday morning, November 20, 2006, at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
A native of Panama City, FL, he had lived there for many years before moving to Pierce County 31 years ago. He was retired from the Florida Times- Union where he had been a district manager and was a member of the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Albert Reese and Clarice C. Hall Patterson and was also preceded in death by his wife, Inez Waters Patterson, and also by two brothers, Clyde Patterson and Dallas Patterson.
Survivors are two daughters, Karen Patterson, Mount Dora, FL and Annette Miller, Fort Pierce, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Aquila and John Read, Keene, TX; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert R. Jr. and Vonceille Patterson, Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Patterson, Panama City and Beverly Patterson, Texas; a grandchild, Jeffrey Skaggs, Fort Pierce; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and also his companion pets, Tippy and Smut, III, which he dearly loved.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, from the graveside in Greenlawn cemetery in Ware County.
Memorialization is by cremation.

Bobby ‘Boss Hog’ Smith
Bobby “Boss Hog” Smith, 62, of Blackshear died Monday afternoon, November 13, 2006, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness.
A native of Bacon County, he had lived most of his life in Pierce County. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe C. “Bus” Smith and Alma Smith.
He was a retired truck driver and a former superintendent of the Pierce County Road Dept.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Smith (wife Crystal), Blackshear; a step-son Kevin Parrott (wife Sandy), Blackshear; a step-daughter Cheryl Jacobs (husband Brent), Hoboken; nine grandchildren Blue and Zoe Smith, both of Blackshear, Cassie, Hannah and Ethan Jacobs, all of Hoboken, Bridgette Jacobs, Zeb and Beth Murray, all of Blackshear, and Stephanie Morrison (husband Dustin), Hickox; three great-grandchildren; a brother Bennie Smith (wife Teresa), Kingsland; a half-brother Levy Smith, Blackshear and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, from the Martha Memorial Methodist Church.

Cleo Davis Baggs
Cleo Davis Baggs, 96, of Blackshear died on November 15, 2006. She was a resident of Pierce County Nursing Home at the time of death.
Mrs. Baggs, who retired as a nurse’s aide from the Pierce County Hospital in 1975, was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Baggs; a son, Marion R. Baggs and a grandson, Brian M. Baggs.
Mrs. Baggs, the daughter of Andrew Lawton and Beulah Brewton Davis, was born in Pierce County July 10, 1910. She married
Ralph Baggs on September 17, 1933. After living in several southeast Georgia locations, the Baggs family returned to Pierce County in 1947.
She was a long-time member of the Blackshear Presbyterian Church. The church pastor, the Reverend Joe Brice, conducted the funeral from the chapel of Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17.

Active pallbearers were her grandsons, Norman, Kenton, Mike, Kenneth, Rory and Roland Baggs, Kevin and Jeffrey Waters and David Walters.
Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Pierce County Nursing Home Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters Joyce Waters (Denver), Brunswick, Melba Walters (Rudy) and Glenda Baggs, both of Blackshear and Barbara Maple (Doug), Cedar Key, FL; sons, Lawton (Maxine) Baggs, Jasper, Emory (Carol) Baggs, Bonifay, FL, Stanford (Yvonne) Baggs, Waycross and Gerald Baggs and Grant Whitfield, both of Griffin. Other survivors include many beloved grandchildren, many more great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Jeannett Owens, Jacksonville, FL is another survivor. Surviving siblings are Preston and Hubert (Louise) Davis, both of Blackshear and Glenn Davis, Douglas. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also mourn her passing.

James David Suggs
James David Suggs, 47, of Blackshear died Thursday afternoon, November 16, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Ware County, he had lived most of his life there until moving to Pierce County in 1993. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Quentin Suggs and a sister, Betty Thornton.
He was a truck driver for the City of Waycross with 29 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife Lynn Suggs, Blackshear; a daughter Kaylee Buckins, Blackshear; a son Kyle Suggs, Blackshear; his mother Lorene Suggs, Lake Park; father and mother-in-law Robert and Marlene Sullivan, both of Blackshear; three sisters Erma Hightower (husband Carl) Griffin, Nora Hightower (husband Clinton), Lake Park, Missy Booth, Waycross; three brothers Tommy Suggs (wife Margaret) Fayetteville, Stanley Suggs, Thomaston, Johnny Suggs, Griffin; two special nephews Shannon Suggs (wife Michelle), Dixie Union, and Charles Bunn (wife Stacy), Concord, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

James Edsel Edgerton
James Edsel Edgerton, 73, of Blackshear, died Sunday morning, November 19, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was a native of Bacon County but had lived most of his life in Pierce County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward Edgerton and Etna Mae Williams Edgerton, and a granddaughter, Linda Marie Chancey.
He retired from the Metropolitan Police Dept. of Washington, DC and also managed Waycross Sportswear until the early 1980s.
He was a faithful member of University Boulevard Church of God and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He was a former umpire for the local softball association and a member of the Waycross Bowling League. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Edgerton, Blackshear; two daughters, Susan McDonald (husband Kenny), Middleburg, FL and Hope Edgerton, Dublin; two sons, Jeff Edgerton (wife Allison), Statesboro, Stephen Edgerton (wife Joanna), Elkins Park, PA; a step-daughter Jena Chancey (husband Dale), Blackshear; a step-son Scott Revels, Brunswick; seven grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mary Anderson, Blackshear; two sisters Merlene Dixon (husband Earl) and Christine Tarrant (husband John), all of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers, Eugene Edgerton (wife Sybil), Jacksonville, FL, Freddie Edgerton (wife Nancy), Middleburg, FL and Benny Edgerton (wife Brenda), Jesup and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, from the University Boulevard Church of God.

Otis Brewer
Otis Brewer, 84, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, November 7, 2006, at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
A native of Telfair County, he had lived in Hazlehurst for many years before moving to Pierce County in 1979. He was retired from the Pierce County Road Department and attended the Blackshear Church of God where he had been active with the Senior Joyful Hearts group. He was an avid fisherman and was a son of the late Seward and Georgia Hulett Brewer. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Ann Rowland and Rose Brewer; two sons, James E. Brewer Sr. and Cecil Brewer; a step-son, Cecil Jay Nettles and a great-grandchild, Carly Reece.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Pearson Brewer, Blackshear; three daughters, Mary Frances Aldridge, Hazlehurst, Nelda Fay (Ray) Bowen, Ocilla and Teresa Wooten, Hazlehurst; three step-daughters, Mary Chambers and Evelyn (Carl) Fisher, all of Blackshear and Sandra (Mark) Ezzell, Pinellas Park, FL; two sons, Lonnie (Tamala) Brewer Sr. and Calvin (Tammy) Brewer, all of Hazlehurst; a step-son, Steve (Cindy) Nettles, Waycross; six sisters, Onita Varnadore, Lumber City, Lucille Martin, Warner Robins, Barbra Scott, Towns, Kay Tapley and Sudie Brewer, both of Baxley and Janie Brewer, Atlanta; a brother, Raliegh Brewer, Eastman; a son-in-law, John Rowland, Hazlehurst; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Brewer, Hazlehurst; a sister-in-law, Lola Mae Dyal, Hazlehurst; 37 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Kate Howard Jones
Kate Howard Jones passed away November 8, 2006 following a brave battle with ovarian cancer for nine years.
Born October 14, 1945 to Emery and Easter Howard, she lived on St. Simons Island, through the ninth grade; then Jacksonville, FL for the 10th grade; then Blackshear, for her last two years of high school. She also graduated from DeKalb College in Decatur, as well as Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. From that time on she taught a Sunday school class almost continuously until her death. In two of the churches she attended, she participated in taking communion to the homebound. In her current church, Stockbridge First United Methodist Church, she requested this ministry, and it was named the Kate Jones Homebound Communion Ministry. For the last three years, she and her husband, Jimmie, also served as Saturday chaplains at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on a volunteer basis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Easter Howard and her sister, Ruthie Sarratt.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie; her son, Ander; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Allie; her brother, Paul and sisters, Joan and Lilly.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, from the Stockbridge First United Methodist Church.
