Sheila Louise Rivenbark Armstrong
Sheila Louise Rivenbark Armstrong, 47, of Offerman passed away early Thursday morning, May 25, 2006, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, following an short illness.
A native of Osceola County, FL, she had lived in St. Cloud, FL for many years before moving to Pierce County in 1992. She was a homemaker and loved to go to garage sales. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors are her husband, Casey Lamont Armstrong, Offerman; two daughters, Andrea Armstrong and Jessie Armstrong, both of Offerman; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Candice Armstrong, Screven; her parents, Benny and Adelene Vickers Rivenbark, Waycross; a sister, Brenda Atkins, Webster, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Rachel Rivenbark, St. Cloud; two grandchildren, Alexis Armstrong and Cheyann Armstrong; her beloved dog, Rudy, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization is by cremation.

Wayman Leonard Montague
Wayman Leonard Montague, 86, of Nahunta, passed away Friday afternoon, May 26, 2006, at the Satilla Care Center in Waycross.
A native of Green County, NC, he had lived in Nahunta since 1956. He was a 1939 graduate of Goldsboro High School, a 1950 graduate of Holmes Bible College and a 1961 graduate of Georgia Southern College. He retired as a school teacher with the Brantley County Board of Education in 1983 and had also served as the President of the Brantley County Retired Teachers Association from 1987 until 1991. He had also been an ordained minister where he had pastored at the following Pentecostal Holiness Churches: Bailey, Calypso, Weldon, Hobgood and Hood Memorial all of which were in Jacksonville, NC. He had also served as pastor at Telmore Pentecostal Holiness Church. At the time of his death, he was a member of Bible Heritage Church. Since 1965, he had not pastored again but taught the Men’s Adult Bible Class at Bible Heritage Church along with substituting for the pastors on Wednesday and Sunday services. He was a WWII Army-Air Corp. Veteran having served with the 87th Bomb Squadron. He was a son of the late Samuel Otis and Clyde Arcellus Parks Montague and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly J. Montague Brown, who passed away in 1995, a sister and four brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Zilphia Montague, Nahunta; a daughter, Reba Doris Montague, Nahunta; two sons and daughters-in-law, L. Dallas and Diane Montague, Wilson, NC and Michael G. and Pamela Montague, Baton Rouge, LA; two grandchildren, David Leon Montague and Dana Lois Montague Ward; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Ward, Tia Ward and Shaylia Ward; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28, from the Bible Heritage Church.
An additional funeral service and burial will be held in Princeton, NC at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Bible Heritage Church, 1414 Albany Ave., Waycross, GA 31503.

Grace Mary Osborne McDowell
Grace Mary Osborne McDowell, 92, died Friday night, May 26, 2006, at the Satilla Care Center following an extended illness.
She was a native of and had lived most of her life in Wanaque, NJ, but had lived many years in Cape Coral, FL before moving to Blackshear in 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Harold McDowell and her parents, William Osborne and Ella Bishop Osborne.
He was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Coar, Blackshear; four sons, Harold McDowell, West Milford, NJ, Jim McDowell, Blackshear, Don McDowell (wife Emma), Gulfport, MS, and Ernest McDowell (wife Connie), Callahan, FL, and a son-in-law Ken Coar, Moultrie; 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.
Memorialization was by cremation.

Martha Porter Griffis Sellers
Martha Porter Griffis Sellers, 80, of Waverly, wife of Troy McKenzy Sellers of Waverly, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006, at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center.
A native of Blackshear, and a long time resident of Waverly, she retired from the Pierce County Health Department. She was a member of Marshes of Glynn Baptist Church of Brunswick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Porter Griffis, John Randall Griffis and Latrelle Moseley Griffis.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two sons, T. Randall Sellers and his wife, Donna Woodcock Sellers, Claxton, and T. Jerry Sellers and his wife, Beth Ragsdale Sellers, Marietta; four granddaughters, Felicia Sellers Odum and husband, W. Brian Odum, Marcia Sellers, Erica Sellers, and Dianna Sellers, all of Claxton; six great-grandchildren, Carla and Michael Raulerson, Blackshear, Whitney, Courtney, and Sidney Odum, Claxton, and Myah Walker Claxton; a brother, John R. Griffis, Jr. and his wife, Jan Taylor Griffis, Patterson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, from the Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home Chapel in Blackshear.
iIntermentwill follow at Laura Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Sellers, Linton Raulerson, Charley Cooper, Michael Raulerson, Brian Odum, and Chance DeLoach.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the funeral home.

Elder Allison D. Deal
Elder Allison Davis Deal, 79, of Bristol, died Monday night, May 15, 2006 at his residence, following an extended illness.
A native of Appling County he was a member of the Lake Chapel Progressive Primitive Baptist Church and was a son of the late C. C. and Teressa Bowen Deal. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Batten. He was a retired senior chief petty officer with the United States Navy serving in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He enlisted in 1944 in the U.S. Navy Seabees Bomb Disposal Squad and in 1949, he re-enlisted in the regular Navy serving on the USS Worcester, CL 144, USS Cruise Fargo, C1106, the USS Caliente, USS Taconic and the Oceanagraphic Unit Recovery Team for the first space flight (monkeys, Able and Baker). He received a commendation for extinguishing a fire aboard the Mount Baker Ammo Ship. He had also served for three years as superintendent of the Georgia Parks Department and was a three year employee of Rayonier as a chip tester.
He was an ordained minister in the Progressive Primitive Baptist Church for 25 years. He had served as pastor of the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, Swainsboro, St. Marys Primitive Baptist Church, Northside Primitive Baptist Church (Jacksonville, FL), Thomasville Primitive Baptist Church, Boston Primitive Baptist Church and Hazlehurst Primitive Baptist Church and had served as a supply minister for churches in Georgia, Tennessee and Florida prior to retiring in 2003.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jean Hughes Deal, Bristol; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Roger Carlile, Norcross and Colleen and Chris Putnam, Elijay; a sister, Lavon Williamson, Jesup; a grandson, Richard Batten, Valdosta and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, from the Lake Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Reid Davis officiating.
Interment, with full military honors, followed in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were his nephews.

Marvin Linwood Gordon
Marvin Linwood Gordon, 54, of Richmond, VA, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 17, 2006, at his residence in Richmond, VA following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pierce County, he had lived in Richmond since 1977. He was a 1973 graduate of Georgia Southern University and had worked as an area manager with Philip Morris USA for 25 years until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church. He had been an Eagle Scout and was a Kappa Alpha fraternity brother. Marvin was a son of the late Marvin Linwood Bryant who was killed when Marvin was a baby. He was also preceded in death by his adopted father, Curtis Harold Gordon, and his step-father, Joseph T. Ham.
Survivors include a daughter, Brittany Elizabeth Gordon, Richmond; two sons, Christopher Bryant Gordon and Reece Thomas Gordon, both of Richmond; his mother, Bonnie L. Boatright Ham, Screven; a brother, Artemus Harold “Artie” Gordon, N. Myrtle Beach, SC; a step-sister, Melissa (Ricky) Gosseck, Hawthorne, FL; a step-brother, Donald (Kay) Ham, Stockbridge and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Floyd Milton Wildes Sr.
Floyd Milton Wildes Sr., 62, of Jesup died Thursday morning, May 18, 2006, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup.
He was born in Ware County to the late Charlie Milton Wildes and Mary Strain and he had lived in South Georgia for all of his life. He was a truck driver for Hendrix Hauling and a member of the Holiness faith. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Wynn and Buddy Wildes and his wife Tracy, all of Blackshear, Kama Wildes, Fernandina Beach, FL, India Wildes, Angel Wildes and Charlie Marie Wildes, all of Jesup, Tina Wildes, Waycross, Daniel Wildes, Jesup, Jessica Wildes, Waycross, Cole Wildes, Folkston, Benjamin Padgett, Jesup and Lisa Bordine, Hazlehurst; 29 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Virginia Wildes Lane, Waycross, a special friend of 16 years, Barbara Padgett, Jesup and numerous other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, from the Bethlehem cemetery near Hickox.

Ralph James Hurst
Ralph James Hurst, 74, died Saturday afternoon, May 20, 2006, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, following an extended illness.
A native of Charleston, SC, he had lived in many places during his military career until moving to Blackshear in 1977. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delta Jane Baxter Hurst and his parents, Ronnie Jessie Hurst and Annie Belle Johns Hurst.
He was a retired sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, he served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
He was also retired as a correctional officer from the state prison in Waycross.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Frank C. Folks Lodge # 192 and the Scottish Rite in Albany.
Survivors include his two sons Charles W. Jones (wife Ruby), New Smyrna Beach, FL and Ronald James Hurst (wife Jacklyn), Blackshear; six grandchildren (two of which were raised by Mr. and Mrs. Hurst: Summer Hurst and Jamie Hurst), seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Clara Juanita McKee
Clara Juanita McKee, 83, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
She was born September 10, 1922 in Blackshear to the late Allen Marion Davis and Marguerite Belle Davis. She had lived in Blackshear all of her life and was a graduate of Blackshear High School. She retired from Selective Service after years of service through World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. She was a member of the Woman’s Clubs of America and a lifetime member of Blackshear Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon.
She was the widow of the late Lester Webster McKee.
Survivors include her only daughter, Pat Colson and son-in-law, Larry Colson, Valdosta; four grandchildren, Allison Colson, Atlanta, Hunter Colson, Valdosta and Rachel and Steve Blankenship, Atlanta; one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Allen Davis, Blackshear; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Coldsnow, Satsuma, FL and Marian Cosson, Fernandina Beach, FL.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 12 from the Blackshear Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Joe Brice officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blackshear Presbyterian Church in the name of Clara Juanita McKee.
