Macie Miller Dasher
Macie Miller Dasher, 90, of Screven, passed away late Monday evening, December 26, 2005, at the Pierce County Nursing Home following several months of declining health.
A native and life-long resident of Wayne County, she was a farm-wife. She was a member of the Salem Progressive Primitive Baptist Church, the Adult Bible Study Class and the Love Thy Neighbor Club. She also enjoyed substitute teaching, reading and selling World Book Encyclopedias. She was a daughter of the late Isham T. and Sally Robertson Miller and was also preceded in death by her husband, Deron W. Dasher; three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors are a daughter, Lequita Baylor, Fowler, CO; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jackie Dasher, Jacksonville, FL; a special nephew, Ricky (Carol) Miller of West Virginia; a sister, Elizabeth Pearson Manning, Blackshear; six grandchildren, DeAnn Eaton (Steve) Azar, DiAnn (Michael) Bourget, Sandra Jean (Richard) Herrell, Carrie (Chris) Brown, Leigh Ann Jara and Deron (Wendy) Dasher; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, other nephews and relatives.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 29, from the Salem Progressive Primitive Baptist Church in Screven with Elder Thomas Waters officiating.
iIntermentwill follow in Screven City Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at the church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Mildred Gordon Clark
Mildred Katherine Gordon Clark, 86, of Blackshear died Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2005, at the Pierce County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native of Geneva, AL, she had lived many years in Colquitt County, Brooksville, FL, and Lucedale, MS, before moving to Pierce County in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Clark, who passed away December 4; her parents, C.H. Gordon and Camilla Roberts Gordon and a daughter, Patricia O’Donegan.
She was a homemaker and a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Lucedale, MS.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Hunter (husband Wray J.), Blackshear, and Dianne Miller, Muskogee, OK; a son, Edward Clark (wife Betty), Luling, LA; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Chrysis Barfield, Morrow; a brother, Jimmy W. Gordon, Cape Coral, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 23, from Oakdale Baptist Church cemetery in Colquitt County.

Sarah Bell Cason Boyette Nilsen
Sarah Bell Cason Boyette Nilsen, 87, of Patterson passed away Wednesday morning, December 21, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native of Pierce County, she had lived here all of her life. She was of the Primitive Baptist faith, but attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, fishing and gardening. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Nolen Boyette; three daughters, Juliette Chancey, Nancy King, and Secelia Murray; one son, James Robert Boyette; and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence “Skip” Nilsen, Patterson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nell Jean Tuten, Patterson, Betty Ann and Clinton Denison, Patterson, and Donna and Orvil Murray, Patterson; two sisters, Mary Miller, Keystone Heights, FL, Bertie and Nicky Miller, Orange Park, FL; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Randall and Evelyn Cason, and Lewis Cason, all of Patterson; 13 grandchildren, Beverly Dixon, Gloria Trull, Jeannie Tuten, Jeannette Eunice, Garry Denison, Joseph Denison, Robbie Murray, Andrea Walker, Ashley Murray, Avis Harris, Sarah Rozier, Sabrina Tolbert and Sabra Daley; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 23, from the Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Clarke Lee, the Rev. I. B. Boyette and the Rev. Derrel Walker officiating.

Helen Ruth Allen Ward
Helen Ruth Allen Ward, 58, of Blackshear, died suddenly Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native of Ware County, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She was a director for Mary Kay Cosmetics and was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was in the Enrichment Sunday School Class. She was a daughter of the late Styles Booth and Ethel Murel Harrison Allen and was also preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Gardner.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Ward, Blackshear; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Robin Ward and Andy and Julie Ward, all of Blackshear; a sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Dave Neville, Blackshear; three grandchildren, Madison Elizabeth Ward, Andrew Clark Ward and Taylor Makala Ward; an uncle, Sam Harrison, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, from the First Baptist Church.

Frank J. Crews
Frank J. Crews, 57, of Hoboken died Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
A native of Brantley County, he was the son of Juanita Johns and Frank J. Crews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Billy Joe Crews and four brothers, Billy Crews, Curtis Crews, Tommy Crews and Robert Crews.
He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a welder for Northfolk Railroad in southern Atlanta. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Timmy Crews, Hoboken and Tommy Crews, Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Teresa E. Crews (Lamar), Blackshear; 11 grandchildren, Thomas Crews, Shane Crews, Kody Crews, Cole Crews, Harley Crews and Lexi Crews, Michael Hendrix, Carlton Hendrix Jr., Nathaniel Lyons, Katlyn Gerces and Kellie Gerces; three sisters, Patricia Altman (W.R.), Stockton, Linda Cummings (Dan), Jacksonville, FL and Joyce Ann Crews (Tony), Las Vegas; a brother, Frank Crews Jr., Hoboken and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Hoboken City cemetery with the Rev. Roy Jacobs officiating.

Alice Foster Thornton Aldridge
Alice Foster Thornton Aldridge, 92, died Saturday morning, December 24, 2005, at the Pierce County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Pierce County, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Thornton and her second husband, B.A. Aldridge; her parents, Frank Foster and Alice Aspinwall Foster; her son-in-law, H.V. Byrd and several brothers and sisters.
She retired from the Pierce Shoe Factory where she worked for 36 years. During World War II she worked for the J.A. Jones Ship Builders in Brunswick.
She was a member of Southgate Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors by her daughter, Norene Byrd, Patterson; a son Hewshal Thornton (wife Lois), Jesup; six grandsons, Herbie Byrd (wife Judy), Lon Byrd (wife Kim), all of Patterson, Steve Thornton (wife Delores) Ludowici, Neal Thornton, Jekyll Island, David Thornton (wife Cindy), Ludowici, and Lee Thornton (wife Lala), Odum, eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005, from Southgate Baptist Church.

Mary Elizabeth Teston Blake
Mary Elizabeth Teston Blake, 59, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005, at the Kindred Hospital in Atlanta.
A native of Ware County, she had lived in Blackshear for most of her life. She was a machine tender with AJM Packing and was of the Baptist faith. She was a daughter of the late Ancil Warren and Nettie Mae Strickland Teston Sr. and will be remembered as a loving grandmother and friend and also as a very energetic and determined woman who never met a stranger and had faith in everyone.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Deianna and Lee Black, Blackshear; four sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Debra Walker and Kevin and Naomi Walker, all of Blackshear, Terrence and Elisha Walker, Folkston and Matthew and Brenda Blake, Baxley; two sisters, Linda Sue Crews, Waycross and Faye Teston of Alabama; seven brothers, Jimmy Hendrix and Andy Hendrix, both of Waycross, Vernon Teston, Offerman, Benny Wayne Corley, Alma, John Henry Teston, Jacksonville, Joe Teston, McMannville, TN and Bill Teston, Ocala; 18 grandchildren, Allen Walker, Ashley Walker, Karen Black, Kayla Black, Krystal Walker, Brandy Walker, Phillip Walker, Jr., Kelly Walker, Kevin Walker, Jr., Jennifer Walker, Taylor Lyn Walker, Terrence Allen Walker, Jr., Donnie James Walker, Tiffany Lashe Walker, Angel Blake, Katy Blake, Toni Leigh Walker and Randi Walker; one great-grandchild, Payton Allen Layne Walker, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jack R. Harris
Jack R. Harris, 61, of DeLand, FL, passed away peacefully Friday, December 23, 2005 at his home, after a short illness.
He was born on February 21, 1944 in Blackshear and moved to DeLand 24 years ago.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed RVing, fishing and traveling. He was the son of the late Valera and Orvin Harris. He was in the architectural sheet metal profession for 33 years working mostly at Walt Disney World and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 15.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sauri M. Harris; daughters Christie Harris, Waycross and Kim Bazemore, Brighton, CO; son Toby R. Harris, Statesboro; step-daughters, Michelle M. Ostermann, DeLand and Minette Marcial, Orlando; grandsons, David, Michael, Chad, Joshua, Joseph M, Joseph L, Brooks, Jacob, Elijah; granddaughter, Margo; great-grandson, Seth; his sisters Joyce Hendry, Blackshear, Jeann Westberry, Thomason and Sandra Murray, Waycross.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, December 28) at the Church of the Holy Presence in DeLand.
Graveside funeral services will be Friday, December 30 at Hollywood Cemetery, Orange City.

Dollie Mae Strickland
Dollie Mae Strickland, 91, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005, at the Specialty Hospital in Jacksonville, FL after an extended illness.
She was a native of Pierce County but had resided most of her life in Brantley County. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She had been employed as a clerk for the S.H. Kress Company.
She was the wife of the late Floyd Strickland and the daughter of the late George W. Youmans and Ruth Bowen Youmans. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alpha Cochran; three grandchildren, Joe Fullard, Floyd Fullard and Teresa Heairlston and a great-granddaughter, Adrianna Knicely.
Survivors include a daughter, Audrey Fullard Walker, Mershon; seven grandchildren, Kathy Petty (husband Darwin), Colorado, Libby (husband Scott), New York, Charles Fullard, Waycross, Sharon Thrift (husband Danny), Millwood, Linda Jones (husband Tom), Snellville, Brenda Fullard, Waycross and Tony Fullard, Cullman, AL; 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
