Gary Nathaniel Lee
Gary Nathaniel Lee, 57, of Blackshear passed away late Thursday evening, October 20, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native of Brantley County, he had lived in Pierce County for most of his adult life. He was retired from the City of St. Marys where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator and was also a member of the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Offerman Hunting Club and the Forks of the River Hunting Club. He was a son of the late Noah Albert & Lizzie Inez Dowling Lee and was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy J. Lee, who passed away on October 5, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Raymond Cason, Blackshear and Vanessa and Steven Herman, Patterson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cameron G. and Lisa Lee, Offerman and Collin and Anesha Lee, Patterson; 11 grandchildren, Keith Cason, Carl Cason, Jeffrey Cason, Logan Lee, Lauren Lee, Morgan Lee, Justin Lee, Christian Lee, Gregory Herman, Jacob Herman and Valerie Herman; five sisters, Louise James, Wynelle Groover, Helen (James) Burney and Patricia (Luis) Mejia, all of Blackshear and Glenda (D. W.) Inman, Valdosta; four brothers, Raynell (Bernice) Lee, Brunswick, Arland (Vernell) Lee, Waycross, Hayden (Glenda) Lee, Hortense and Darrell (Teresa) Lee, Blackshear; his loving ex-wife, Carla Miller, Patterson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 23, from the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

Ray Smith Dixon
Ray Smith Dixon, 58, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning, October 20, 2005, at his residence following a long illness.
A native and life long resident of Blackshear, he had worked at Farmers and Builders (formerly Raulerson’s Hardware) before ill health forced him to retire. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God, the American Legion Post 181 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a son of the late James Spencer and Juanita Sapp Dixon and was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hoke Smith and Goldie Sapp and by his paternal grandparents, Adam and Fannie Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Davis Dixon, Blackshear; a daughter, Vanessa Lee and fiancé James Cothern, Blackshear; four sisters, Wanda (Jimmy) Byrd, Nancy (John) McIntosh, Karen (Keith) Hayes and Debbie (Mike) Crosby, all of Blackshear; five brothers, Travis (Bertie) Dixon, Jerry Dixon, Ronnie (Anne) Dixon, Wayne (Cheryl) Dixon and Ted (Krystal) Dixon, all of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Tyler Lee, Brett Lee and Mia Lee, all of Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, from the New Life Assembly of God.

Mary E. Smith
Mary E. Smith, 86, of Blackshear died Tuesday evening, October 18, 2005, at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born in Estelle, SC to the late Arthur Youmans and Addie Youmans. She worked as a hairdresser. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Owen Claude Smith; three brothers, Arthur Youmans, Harry Youmans, Marion Youmans and a sister, Louise Pittman.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne E. Smith, Shalimar, FL, Gary E. Smith and his wife Suzanne, San Leon, TX, Harold D. Youmans and his wife Colleen, Blackshear; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 21, from the chapel of Good Shepard Memorial Gardens in Ocala, FL.

Naomi B. Smith
Naomi B. Smith, 78, of Gainesville, FL, died Monday, October 3, 2005, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.
A native of Alma, she had also lived in Douglas before moving to Gainesville 53 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of Northwest Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking and quilting.
Survivors include her husband, Elton C. Smith, Gainesville; a daughter, Lynda Hanssen, Hawthorne, FL; sons, Ronald S. Smith and Mitchell J. Smith, both of Gainesville; sisters, Vernelle Galloway, Sierra Vista, AZ, Martha Boatright, Blackshear and Eva Mae McCullough, Dade City; brothers, Foster Boatright, Blackshear and Quincy Boatright and Gary Boatright, both of Callahan, FL; Glenn Boatright, Middleburg, Mitchell Boatright Jr., Atlanta and Floyd Boatright, Jacksonville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, from the Forest Meadows Chapel in the Meadows in Gainesville with Pastor Ken Westbrook officiating.

Mattie Bell DeLoach, 77, of Blackshear died Monday night, October 24, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross following a brief ilness.

Jerry Dwayne Johnson
Jerry Dwayne Johnson, 46, of Gray, passed away Monday, October 10, 2005, at his residence. A native of Blackshear, he had lived in Estill, SC before moving to Gray recently. He was a painter and had attended the First Church of the Living God in Columbia, SC. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Moody Johnson, and by a brother, Richard M. Johnson. He will be remembered for leaving a piece of his heart with all he touched.
Survivors include three daughters, Becky (John) Mosley, Columbia and Ashley Johnson and Katie Johnson, both of Wrightsville; two sons, Mark Johnson and his fiancé, Ellie Deaton, West Columbia, SC and Joey (Jessica) Johnson, Lexington, SC; his father, James C. Johnson, Estill; two sisters, Katherine (Michael) Hair, Brunswick and Joyce Ann (Mike) Gunnels, Barnwell, SC; two brothers, Jimmy (Ruby) Johnson, Gray and Stevie Johnson, Estill; four grandchildren, Cody Johnson, Trenton Mosley, Trevor Johnson and Brandin Mosley; a special niece, September Rain Deal; his loving ex-wife, Vickie Johnson, and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Leeaine Rolls Watson
Leeaine Rolls Watson, 90, of Blackshear, died Saturday morning, October 15, 2005, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, after an extended illness.
She was a native of Miami, FL, but had lived in Blackshear since 1981. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie H. Rolls and Thelma Price Rolls and several brothers and sisters.
She was retired from the Dade County Board of Education where she was a cook in the school cafeteria.
She was a long-time member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Pierce County.
Survivors include her sister, Agnes Faulk, Glennville; a brother Bill Rolls (wife Maggie), Vero Beach, FL; a special nephew, Roy Gilleon (wife Debbie), Blackshear and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.

Annie Lou Rodgers Dixon
Annie Lou Rodgers Dixon, 77, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 16, 2005, at the Atrium Nursing Home in Jacksonville.
A native of Jasper, FL, she had lived in Mershon for several years before moving to Jacksonville in 1984. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a daughter of the late Walter and Harriett Spikes Rodgers and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ira Edward Dixon, who passed away in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and J. B. Fitchett and Carolyn and Jimmy Gnann, all of Jacksonville; a son, Jimmy Lee Dixon, Augusta; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jackie Beverly, Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Benny Bryan, Wanda Learn, Anna Simon, Jose Simon Jr., Dennis Simon and Cynthia Young; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, October 19) from the graveside at Ramah Cemetery.

James Horace Henderson
James Horace Henderson, 76, of Blackshear died suddenly Monday morning, October 17, 2005, at his residence.
He was a native of Blackshear and had lived in many different places during his military career before moving back to Blackshear in 1987. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Smiley Henderson and his parents, Harry Henderson and Bertie Dixon Henderson.
He retired as a sergeant from the U.S. Army with 21 years of service. He also retired from the water department with the City of Waycross.
He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class, and the Saints of Joy. He was also a member of the McDonalds Coffee Club in Blackshear.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah Colley (fiancé Jason Tootle), Blackshear; a son, James Henderson (wife Faye), Blackshear; two grandsons, Travis Henderson of Graceville, FL and Rick Henderson (wife Heather), California; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Belle Henderson, California; three brothers, Ander Henderson (wife Shirley), Nicholls, Ranford Henderson (wife Melba) and Gene Henderson (wife Connie), all of Atlanta, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, from the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. this evening (Wednesday, October 19) at the funeral home.
The Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and the McDonald’s Coffee Club will serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the church by 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

Harrison Christopher Baldwin
Harrison C. Baldwin, 58, of Austin, TX passed away Thursday, September 29, 2005 in Austin.
He was born March 11, 1947 to Leila B. Moody and the late LeeVonza Pender. He was raised in Blackshear, but had lived in Austin during his adult life. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Pender.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Brenda, Austin; a daughter, Evette Baldwin, Austin; a step-son, Terrance (Octavia) Bunton, Austin; five grandchildren, Crystal, Jazzmine, Yasmin, O’Naysha and Te’Aysa; his mother, Leila B. Moody, Blackshear; mother-in-law, Johnnie Bunton, Austin; six brothers, Donald Pender, Waycross, Anthony Moody, Stanley Moody, Walter Moody, Gregory Moody and Jeffery (Amanda) Moody, all of Blackshear; two sisters, Sharon Moody, Blackshear and Pamela (Donell) Moody McGauley, Waycross; five aunts, Margaret Surrency, Jacksonville, FL, Helen Crawford, Blackshear, Olynthia (Eddie) Scott, Waycross, Sealy Hooker and Bobbie (Richard) Fitzgerald, all of Savannah; an uncle, Ernest (Illeen) Baldwin, Oxnard, CA; one great-aunt, Mamie Atkinson, Waycross; one godson, Ronald Savis Jr and several nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, from Shiloh cemetery in Blackshear. Words of consolation were given by Ministers Nathaniel Anderson and Dale Carver.
