Curtis Edward Jacobs Sr.

Curtis Edward Jacobs Sr., 60, of 3966 Ware St., Blackshear, died early Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2005, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross.
He was born August 30, 1944 as the son of Eddie W. and Eldora K. Jacobs. He was educated in the public school system of Pierce County including Lee Street High School. He was employed as an advanced equipment operator with the Pierce County Road Department for many years and was formerly in Waycross and Ware County with the road maintenance departments.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Jacobs, Detroit, MI; two sons, Curtis E. Jacobs Jr., Detroit, MI and Robert King, Blackshear; his mother, Eldora K. Jacobs, Blackshear; two sisters, Delores Welch and Katherine Jacobs, both of Blackshear; two brothers, James M. (Marie) Jacobs and William C. (Faye) Jacobs, all of Blackshear and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, from the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Blackshear.
Jacobs Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

Vassie Nadine Dowling Thomas

Vassie Nadine Dowling Thomas, 76, of Blackshear passed away Friday afternoon, March 4, 2005, following a sudden illness.
A native of Brantley County, she had lived in Pierce County for the past twenty-five years. She was a housewife and was a member of the Blackshear First Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie Johnson Dowling.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Thomas, Blackshear; three daughters, Brenda Colbert, Blackshear, Karen (Dennis) Carter, Jacksonville, FL and Merry (Allen) Harris, Swainsboro; three brothers, C. M. Dowling, Nahunta, Grady Dowling, Alma and Marlon Dowling, Eufaula, AL; six grandchildren, Bryan Colbert, Blackshear, Bradley (Brandy) Colbert, Atlanta, Jennifer Carter and Jason Carter, both of Jacksonville and Ben Harris and Tom Harris, both of Swainsboro; a great-grandchild, Bryson Colbert and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Lawrence H. Collins Jr.

Lawrence H. Collins Jr. 59, 2305 Gillis Circle, died early Friday, March 4, 2005, at his residence in Blackshear.
He was born on January 28, 1946 as the son of the late Lawrence H. Collins Sr. and Alvonia (Williams) Collins of Blackshear. He was educated in the public schools of Pierce County and Blackshear. He was a farmer and farmed until his health failed.He was the Elder of the Hebron Faith Temple Church of Blackshear and dedicated much of his time ministering the word of God to his fellow man.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Collins; three daughters, Linda Faye Collins, Jennifer Washington, Blackshear and Barbara Faye Collins, Miami, FL; two sons, Michael and Lawrence Jerome Collins, Blackshear; three brothers, Jimmy L. Collins of Pascagula, MS, Edsel (Dorothy) Collins, Blackshear and Phillip Collins, Waycross; four sisters, Florrice Collins, Waycross, Shirley (Freddie) Taylor and Mary Dickerson, both of Jesup and Elzener (William) Gray, Blackshear; nine granddaughters, seven grandsons, one great- grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. (today) Wednesday, March 9, from the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Blackshear with Pastor Arthur D. Greene, presiding.

Geneva NeSmith

Geneva NeSmith, 68, of Blackshear died early Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross.
She was born July 24, 1936 in Screven, as the daughter of Harvey and Pinkey Mackey.
She was educated in the public schools of Wayne and Pierce County. She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board for many years. She was also a member of the Ida Mae Chapter # 229 Order of Eastern Star until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Jones and a step-daughter, Pat.
Survivors include her husband, Roy NeSmith Sr., Blackshear; three daughters, Pearlie (Bennie) Davis, Mary Smith and Yvette Jones, all of Blackshear; four sons, Cecil (Belinda) Jones Jr., Apostle Felton (Alisha) Jones, Kenneth (Darlene) Jones, all of Blackshear and Elder Curtis (Patricia) Jones, Hinesville; eight step-children, Billy, Larry, Cecil, Cecilia, Carolyn, Terry, Wade and Wayne; two children she raised as her own, Robert James and Elizabeth Warren; three sisters: Pearlie (Willie B.) Taylor, Annie J. (Marion) James and Jacquelyn Blakely, all of Blackshear; two brothers, Harvey Mackey of Louisville, KY and Theodore (Pearline) Mackey, Blackshear; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 26, from the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Blackshear with Pastor Bishop Brady McSwain officiating and General Bishop Ernest Davis presiding.

Teresa Kaye Miller Adams

Teresa Kaye Miller Adams, 39, died suddenly Sunday, February 27, 2005, at her residence.
She was a native of Waycross, but lived in Panama City for 15 years before moving back to Waycross. She was the daughter of the late William LeRoy Miller and Faye Bullard Miller and preceded in death by two brothers, Albert E. Miller and Robert Miller. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, James L. Adams, III and Joseph K. Adams, both of Waycross; three sisters, Wanda Justis, Blackshear, Brenda Murray and Lisa Westberry both of Waycross; three brothers, Billy Miller, Blackshear, Donald Miller, Timmy Miller and Larry Miller, all of Waycross; her sons' father, Larry Adams of Waycross; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. (today) Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at the Hargarves Chapel with the burial in the church cemetery.
Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Larry C. Jenkins

Larry C. Jenkins, 54, of Miami, FL and formerly of Waycross, died unexpectedly late Saturday night, February 12, 2005 at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross.
Larry was the oldest son of Frank and Lorene Jenkins. He was born July 13, 1950 in Screven. He was educated in the Pierce County School System and was a 1968 graduate of Center High School in Waycross. He lived in Miami for the past 37 years and was gainfully employed as a painting contractor. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Miami under the leadership of Pastor Achenson.
Survivors include his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins; two daughters, LaFayette (Tracy) Clemons, and Tonya Layne; two sons, Forte’ Bush and Antone Bush; six sisters, Cora Bailey, Frankie (Louis) Antoine, Anne Jenkins, Janice Jenkins, Canstance AA (Wilbert) Muhammad and Frances Jenkins; five brothers, Herman Dozier, Floyd Jenkins, Garrison Jenkins, Leonard Jenkins and Carlton Jenkins; eight grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend Bertie Allen.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19 from the St. James Missionary Baptist Church “The Ridge” near Patterson, with Pastor Herman Lincoln officiating.

Lester O. Smith Sr.

Lester O. Smith Sr., 69, of Waycross, died suddenly Monday, February 14, 2005, at his residence.
A native of Pierce County, he had resided in Waycross for the past several years. He was the son of the late James Willie Smith and Phoebe B. Hendrix Smith. He retired from Dowling Exterminating. He attended Primitive Baptist Churches and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Smith, Waycross; three sons, Lester Owen Smith Jr., (wife Cindy), Sebastian, FL, Bill Smith and James Smith (wife Lisa), both of Waycross; two daughters, Angela Thompson (husband Keith), St. Petersburg, FL and Debra Smith, Waycross; eleven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; three brothers, David S. Smith, Kingsland, Robert Leon Smith Sr., Waycross and John Eldon Smith, St. Marys; two sisters, Waunell Roberson, Waycross and Mildred Wilke, Savannah; one uncle; several aunts; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, from the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Daniel Drawdy, Elder Herman Lee and Elder Freddie Thomas officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.

Mildred Amanda Crump Crosby

Mildred Amanda Crump Crosby, 85, of Patterson, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 15, 2005, at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
A native of Gilmer County, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She had worked as a seamstress for Lee Manufacturing, was a housewife and had also worked on the family farm alongside her husband, the late Arnold Franklin Crosby. She attended the New Home Primitive Baptist Church and was a daughter of the late Jim Madison and Janie Silvers Crump. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Crosby; two sisters, Ruth Bennett and Rosa Barrett and a brother, Hershel Crump.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Richard Allday, Blackshear; a sister, Margie O’Connell Thomas, Patterson; two brothers, Ivey M. Crump, Yulee, FL and Ralph Crump, Big River, AZ; four grandchildren, Amanda Whitley, Ricky (Leslie) Allday, Pamela Allday and Randy (Tonya) Allday; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, from the New Home Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Reavis Hickox officiating.

Myrtle Drawdy Turner

Myrtle Drawdy Turner, 76, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, February 15, 2005, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
A native of Wayne County, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She had worked as a cutter for the Spatola Shoe Factory for 20 years and had also worked with her late husband, Isaac Turner, at Myrtle’s Produce in Waycross. She was a member of the Midway Primitive Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and also for her love of gospel music. She was a daughter of the late John and Rachel Manning Drawdy and was also preceded in death by all three of her husbands, Marion C. Peacock, Ralph R. Ramey and the aforementioned Isaac Turner; all three of her sisters, Janie Drawdy, Fannie Carr and Viola Jacobs and all five of her brothers, Dillion Drawdy, Conus Drawdy, Burris Drawdy, Emmett Drawdy and Frank Drawdy.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Jimmy) Brooks, Hoboken and Carol Peacock, Blackshear; a son, Ralph (Brenda) Ramey, Blackshear; four grandchildren, Angie (Danny) Mock, Hoboken, Paige (Shawn) Wildes, Waycross and Justin Ramey and Brandon Ramey, both of Blackshear; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Mock and Hunter Mock, both of Hoboken; six step-daughters, one step-son and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Clinton Howard Wagner Sr.

Clinton Howard Wagner Sr., 70, of Patterson died Monday morning, February 21, 2005, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, after a brief illness.
A native of Harrisburg, PA, he had lived there most of his life before moving to Mableton, where he also lived for many years. He moved to Pierce County in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Luther Wagner Sr. and Cathryn Evangeline Flemming Wagner; a son, David Allen Wagner and a daughter, Catherine Evangeline Wagner.
He was retired from Georgia Metals as a manufacturer. He was formerly in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wagner, Patterson; two daughters, Vickey Wagner, Patterson and Virginia Dixon (husband Ricky), Offerman; three sons Ricci Wagner (wife Donna), Hopkinsville, KY, Clinton H. Wagner Jr. (wife Cindy), Albany, NY, and Richard Wagner (wife Karen), McKinney, TX; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Wagner, Allentown, PA and Tom Wagner, Kulpmont, PA; three sisters, Dorothy Derr and Irene Yinger, both of Enola, PA, Jean Marshall, DeLand, FL, and Linda Wagner, Harrisburg, PA and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
There will be no public services.
Memorialization was by cremation.
