Isaac Richard Boeckman, age 8, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011. He is survived by his parents, Keith and Angela Boeckman, Buford, GA; sisters, Hannah and Sarah Kate Boeckman, Buford, GA; brothers, Benjamin, Elijah, and Zach Boeckman, Buford, GA; grandparents, Mark and Florence Boeckman, Buford, GA, Ed and Laura Wheeler, Franklin, TN; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Isaac was born April 25, 2003 in Lawrenceville, GA. He was a student at Buford Academy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buford, GA where he was also a member of the 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School Class. The funeral will be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Buford, GA with Rev. Mrs. Eleanor Mae Johnson, age 90, of Duluth, GA passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Harvey J. Johnson. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Alan H. Nix, Duluth, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Roger Johnson and Dr. Dona Lee Andrew, Jackson, MS; three grandchildren, Stacy and Gibbs Knotts, Melissa and Sean Harrington and Leslie Nix; and three great grandchildren, Chase Harrington. Eva Harrington and Whitney Knotts. Mrs. Johnson was born February 10, 1921 in Harvey, ND. She was a 1939 graduate of Central High School in Grand Forks, ND, a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree and a graduate of Northwestern University where she received her Medical Technology Degree. She was a retired Medical Technologist from Northwestern Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a member of the P.E.O., a member of the Tri Delta Sorority, a member of the Sons of Norway and a member of the United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks in North Dakota. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Sondra R. Jones officiating. Mr. Bobby Edwin Kerlin, age 77, of Buford, GA passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Velma Kerlin; and grandson, Justin Cates. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Kerlin, Buford, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Jeff Patton, Dacula, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Jeannette Kerlin, Scottsville, VA; grandchildren, Kady Cates, Bethlehem, GA and Joseph Kolback, Jr., Scottsville, VA; sisters-in-law, Grace Thompson, Newnan, GA, Lucy Bryson, Jonesboro, GA, Belle Ivie, Thompson, GA and Pearl Fowler, Crawfordville, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Kerlin was born September 16, 1933 in Buford, GA. He was a 1950 graduate of Buford High School in Buford, GA, a graduate of Southern Tech in Chamblee, GA, a graduate of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA, and a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He taught and coached at Buford High School. He was a retired city manager with the City of Buford. He was a Mason and member of the Buford Masonic Lodge 292 F. & A.M. and he was also a Shriner and member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta, GA. He served on the Board of the Buford Housing Authority. He was a former little league baseball and football coach. He was an avid Buford Wolves Fan. He was member of the Sherwood Coffee Club. He was a member of the Buford First United Methodist Church in Buford, GA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Davis, Rev. Wayne Johnson and Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating. Graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Buford, GA with Rev. Sondra R. Jones officiating and with military honors. Mr. Joseph Earley, age 72, of Homer, GA passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. He is survived by his former wife, Bernice Earley, Buford, GA; caregiver, Sandra Walden, Buford, GA. A private interment will be held at Georgia National cemetery in Canton, GA.
Ronald BART Gardin, 38, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Bone Marrow Tower in the Northside Hospital in Atlanta, surrounded by his parents, following his courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born January 28, 1973 in Asheville, NC. He graduated in 1991 from Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, FL and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1995 graduate from Florida State University. He was employed by DJO, Inc. in Vista, CA. Bart was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Rev. Gary and Hester Sales; paternal grandfather, Roy Gardin; maternal grandfather, Pat Wright; Uncle and Aunt, Johann and Irene Johnson and paternal grandmother, Edith Gardin. Survivors include his wife Leslie Garcia Gardin, daughter, Aubrey Garcia Gardin, son, Ronald Brett Gardin, of Hixson, TN; parents, Roger B. She is survived by her companion, Maynard Blackmon, Lawrenceville, GA; son, Joe Billups, Abbeville, GA; brother, Roger Wood, Chicago, IL; sister, Peggy McCollum, Beaufort, SC; aunts, Dorothy Evans, Chicago Heights, IL and Raurice McCollum, Harvey, IL; four nephews; one niece; and a host of cousins and other relatives. Donna was a resident of Gwinnett County since 1998. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. James M. “Jim” Baker, Jr., age 58, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, James Milton Baker, Sr. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Kathy H. Baker, Suwanee, GA; son, James M. Baker, III, Suwanee, GA; mother, Edythe J. Baker, Decatur, GA; sisters, Jan and Tim Herren, Suwanee, GA, Joy and Steve Eaton, Cumming, GA and Jill and Glenn Merritt, Charlotte, NC; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Baker was born August 22, 1952 in Atlanta, GA. He was a 1970 graduate of Briarcliff High School in Decatur, GA, and he attended DeKalb College and Georgia Tech. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was owner of J.M. Baker Company in Suwanee, GA. He was a HAM Radio Operator, a boat captain and an airplane pilot. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. John H. Abston, age 76, of Cumming, GA passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rene and Roy Douglas, Cumming, GA and Mary Delores and John Sudol, Youngstown, OH; brother, Donald Ray Abston, Cleveland, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Abston was born April 23, 1935 in Rockwood, TN. He was a retired service station operator. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Mildred Lewis Bagley, age 90, of Buford, GA passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, John W. Bagley. She is survived by her children, Ann and Doug Bryant, Gary and Jennifer Bagley, Joel and Jill Bagley, Jan and Tom Durham and Steve and Carol Bray; grandchildren, Paul and Laryssa Bryant, Kelly and Richie Barrineau, Ty Bagley, Brett and Andrea Bagley and Bethany Bagley; great grandchildren, Seve and Kelsie Barrineau and Simon Bagley; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bagley was born January 31, 1921. She operated the Buford Kindergarten from 1953 until 1974. From 1974 until 1992, she was a substitute teacher at Buford High School. She was a dedicated Christian. It is impossible to describe the extent she was involved with her church. She served in almost every position with all age groups during the seventy-eight years that she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buford. She was also a charter member of the Silvertone Choir. She also had various responsibilities in the Lawrenceville Baptist Association and with the Georgia State W.M.U. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Buford with Rev. Matt Stacy and Rev. Ronald Anthony DeRenzis, age 84, of Dacula passed away August 16th, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, Bebe DeRenzis, daughters Tina DeRenzis, Dr. Andrea Strauss and Gabrielle Darnell, son-in-laws, John Strauss, Deron Darnell and grandchildren, Kristyn Short, Michael DeRenzis Short, and Danielle Chapman. Ron was a retired Veteran of the US Navy, a retiree from Western Electric Corp., and member of the Model A Restorers' Club of Georgia.
