Dorothy Faye Hamm Truitt
Dorothy Faye “Dot” Hamm Truitt, 62, of Camilla, died Sunday, May 15,
2011 at a friend’s residence in Waycross.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Parker-
Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Laurel Hill cemetery in
Thomasville. Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate.
Born July 23, 1948 in Thomasville, GA, Mrs. Truitt was the daughter of
the late Alvie and Rhoda Hayes Hamm. She was married
to the late
Howard O. Truitt. Mrs. Truitt worked for the Bank of Camilla. She
was a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla and a member of the
Eastern Star of Thomasville, where she served as past grand matron.
Mrs. Truitt was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hamm.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Truitt & wife, Debbie, of Sale City
and Mike Truitt & wife, Lynn, of Pelham; one brother, Larue Hamm of
Hilliard, FL; a sister, Ruth Roberts of Waycross; five grandchildren,
Michael Truitt, Justin Truitt, Tiffany Vinson, Matt Pearce, and Andrew
Pearce; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Parker-Bramlett
Funeral Home in Camilla.

Helen Williams Worth
Helen Williams Worth, 72, of Sale City, died Wednesday, June 8, 2010 at Phoebe
Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Sale City Baptist Church
with interment in Sale City Cemetery. Rev. Tim Bozeman will officiate.
Born September 9, 1937 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Mrs. Worth was married
to
the late Herbert Layton Worth. She was a member of Sale City Baptist Church.
Mrs. Worth was an entrepreneur and had a hobby of arts and crafts. She was
preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Williams.
Survivors include her five children, Daniel Worth & wife, Melinda, of Sale City,
Kevyn Greene & wife, Frances, of Lakeland, FL, Jane Sherman of Lake Wales,
FL, Brenda Burnett & husband, Richard, of Lake Wales, FL, and Paul Cook of
Alturas, FL; a sister, Corine Wallace of Elizabethtown, KY; 14 grandchildren,
Brandon Worth, Shannon Black, Shawna Hall, Crystal Hall, Craig Hall, Bethany
Burnett, Chase Hawley, Josh Butler, Mandy Truax, Daniel Worth, Jr., Amanda
Greene, Hunter Greene, Greg Cook, and Melissa Cook; and 17 great
grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, June 11 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral
Home in Camilla.

Dorothy Nell Shiver Sexton, 66, of Pelham, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Phoebe
Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 16 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral
Home with interment in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Arnold Buckner
will officiate.

Born April 7, 1944 in Mitchell County, Ms. Sexton was the daughter of the late Roy
and Lessie Saucer Shiver. She was a homemaker and a member of Cotton Assembly
of God Church.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Sexton & wife, Nancy, of Sylvester, Phillip
Sexton & wife, Ashley, of Sale City, and Howard Sexton & wife, Sabrina, of
Valdosta; one daughter, Amanda Donovan of Warne, N.C.; two step-sons,
Samuel Sexton of Pass Christian, Miss. and Robert Sexton of Pass Christian, Miss.;
one step-daughter, Alice Fay Stokes of Meridian, Miss.; two sisters, Martha Glover
of Pelham and Patricia Simpson of Pelham; four brothers, Frank Shiver of
Jacksonville, FL, Floyd Shiver of Jacksonville, FL, Roscoe Shiver of Coolidge, and
Jim Shiver of Springhill, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Sarah Gladys Dowdy, 87, of Camilla, died Thursday, May 12 at Southland Healthcare in
Peachtree City.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 16 at Southside Baptist Church with
iIntermentin Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Neal Hager will officiate.
Pallbearers include Chip Harper, Flip Harper, Craig Smithwick, Jeremiah Johnson, Greg
Griffin, and Bryan McKenzie.
Born July 2, 1923 in Buena Vista, GA, Mrs. Dowdy was the daughter of the late Horace and
Arrie Stringfellow Ray. She was married
to the late Willie Hugh Dowdy. Mrs. Dowdy was
a homemaker and worked as shipping clerk for Wilk Shirt Company. She was a member of
Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Dowdy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deedi
Senn.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Furbee and husband, Dan, of Palmetto, GA and
Elaine Johnson and husband, Charlie, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two grandchildren, Greg Griffin
and wife, Chrys and Jeremiah Johnson and wife, Amber; two great granddaughters, Jasie
Johnson and Adalynn Johnson; four step-grandchildren, Sherlane Zackman, Daniel Furbee,
Bart Furbee, and Dee Wallace; and nine step-great grandchildren.

at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Born January 16, 1946 in Mitchell County, Mr. Palmer was
the son of the late David Elijah Palmer and Mary Leona
Martin Palmer. He was a member of the U.S. Marines and
served in Vietnam. Mr. Palmer attended the Parkway
Church of God in Thomasville and worked with Award
Winning Printing Company of Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Palmer of Pelham;
two brothers, Charlie E. Palmer of Cairo and James J.
Palmer of Coolidge; two sisters Dora Lee McKenzie and
husband, John of Camilla and Mazie Gossett of Griffin;
several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at
Parker Bramlett Funeral Home.

William H. “Bill” Palmer
William H. “Bill” Palmer, 59, of Chapel Hill, N.C., died Saturday, August 28, 2010
at his sister’s residence in Chapel Hill.
Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2 at Oakview
Cemetery.
Born December 18, 1950 in Mitchell County, Mr. Palmer was the son of the late
Joe Maurice and Jean Harris Palmer. He worked in sales.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Palmer Mezger & husband, Guy, of Dallas,
Texas; one sister, Patti Saponaro & husband, Joe, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; one brother,
Joe M. Palmer, Jr. & wife, Maggie, of Maine; three grandchildren, Logan Mezger,
Rachael Mezger, and Jake Hancock; and several nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 – 12:30, Thursday, September 2 at Parker-Bramlett
