Frederick Barrow Hand, Jr.
Frederick Barrow Hand, Jr., 76, of Pelham, Georgia, died Sunday, June 17, 2012,
at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Alabama. A graveside memorial
service will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Pelham City Cemetery.
Reverend J. Michael Finn and Reverend David A.Pickering will officiate.
A native of Pelham, Georgia, Mr. Hand was born November 2, 1935, the eldest of
five children born to Frederick Barrow Hand and Voncile Parker Hand. He was the
grandson of the late Judson Leland Hand, founder of Pelham, and Florence Hollis
Hand.
After graduating in 1953 from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia,
where he served as head monitor, he earned a B.B.A. in 1957 and an L.L.B.
degree in 1958 from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Chi
Phi Fraternity and Phi Delta Phi, law fraternity.
After practicing law with Perry, Walters, and Langstaff in Albany from 1959 to
1963, he began his private law practice in Pelham, where he served as City
Attorney for over fifteen years. Mr. Hand was a member of the American Bar
Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Mitchell County Bar Association
until his retirement in 2008. He was an advisory member of the State Bar of
Georgia Unauthorized Practice of Law committee and represented the Second
Congressional District on the Executive Council of the Younger Lawyers Section
of the State Bar of Georgia. During his time as a member of the Mitchell County
Bar Association, he served as President, Vice-President, Secretary and
Treasurer. From 1964 to 1970 he was Solicitor General of the South Georgia
Judicial Circuit.
Mr. Hand served as a Chairperson of the Legislative Committee for the Pelham
Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Mitchell Economic Growth Association,
a director of the Georgia Housing and Finance Authority, and a director of
Farmers Bank of Pelham, later Sun Trust Bank. He also served on the board of
directors of The Hand Trading Company. He was an active pine tree grower and
a retired pecan grower in Mitchell County, Georgia.
He was a member of the Pelham Rotary Club for twenty years, where he served
as treasurer, and received the Jack Payne Memorial Attendance award for twelve
years of perfect attendance.
A lifelong member of Hand Memorial United Methodist Church, he served on the
parsonage building committee in 1966 and later as chairman of the Trustees. He
also served on the Board of Trustees of Magnolia Manor, the South Georgia
Methodist Home in Americus.
Mr. Hand is survived by a son, Frederick Barrow Hand, III, and wife Frances Hays
Hand of Atlanta, and a daughter, Miriam Hand Fuller and husband Dr. David
Thompson Fuller, III, of Brierfield, Alabama. Six grandchildren survive, including
Frederick Barrrow Hand, IV, of Atlanta; Eleanor Willa Hand of Atlanta and
Brisbane, Australia; Elizabeth Rebekah Fuller of Birmingham, Alabama;
Katherine Grace Fuller, Joseph Michael Fuller, and John Thompson Fuller, all of
Brierfield, Alabama. Three sisters survive, including Voncile Hand Rumble of
Pelham, Georgia; Alice Hand Mikkleson, and husband Jerry Dean Mikkleson of
Winter Park, Florida; and Mary Hand Aiken and husband John Spencer Harrison
Aiken of St. Simons Island, Georgia; and one brother, William Thomas Hand of
Perry, Georgia. He is also survived by his step-mother Elsie Peacock Hand. He
was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Frances Chandler Hand.

William R. “Will” Ward
William R. “Will” Ward, 67, of Camilla, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at
Pelham Parkway Nursing Home in Pelham.
Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 19 at Parker-Bramlett
Funeral Home Chapel.
Born August 8, 1942 in Rehoboth, Delaware, Mr. Ward was the son of the late
Edith Fisher Ward. He was a farmer, having worked with Hamil McNair Farms.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ward of Camilla; two daughters, Angela
Lawson & husband, David, of Norman Park and Becky Thomas & husband,
Frank, of Dothan, AL; six grandchildren, Stephen Lawson & wife, Brittany,
Adam Lawson & wife, Jamie, Austin Broadway, Avery Broadway, Clay Thomas,
and Jordan Thomas; one great grandchild, Preston Lawson.
Visitation will be from 4 – 5 p.m. Friday, one hour prior to services, at
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.

Selma F. Gray
Selma F. Gray, 91, of Thomasville, formerly of Hopeful, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at
Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 25 at Hopeful Baptist Church with interment
in the church cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Kinsaul will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Tim Shirah, Ralph Davis, Gene Edwards, Layne Oliver, David
West, Jr., and Reggie Bostick. The Bobby Rogers Sunday School Class will serve as
honorary pallbearers.
Born November 14, 1918 in Worth County, Mrs. Gray was the daughter of the late Clyde H.
and Ora Harden Forshee. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Hopeful Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband, George T. Gray, Sr. of Thomasville; three sons, George T.
Gray, Jr. & wife, Inez, of Edison, Bobby F. Gray & wife, Glennie, of Thomasville, and Lynn
A. Gray & wife, Kathy, of Edison; one sister, Ella Kate Justice of Aiken, S.C.; two brothers,
Harold H. Forshee of San Antonio, TX and Bobby W. Forshee of New Mexico; two
grandsons, Gregory K. Gray & wife, Janet, and Alex K. Gray; three granddaughters, Emily L.
Holton & husband, Hartley, Erin B. Mathis & husband, Cody, and Carrie E. Gray; and two
great grandchildren, Thomas Gray and Summer Gray.
Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, one hour prior to services, at Hopeful

Lois June Rolling Musgrove, 79, of Americus, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at
Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus.

Born November 13, 1931 in Slocomb, AL, Mrs. Musgrove was the daughter
of the late Charles Rolling and Velma Palmer Rolling Neal. She was married
to the late Horace W. Musgrove, Sr. Mrs. Musgrove was a homemaker and
a member of Newton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son,
Horace W. Musgrove, Jr. and a sister, Lil Fricks.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Musgrove of Apalachicola, FL and David
Musgrove of Tampa, FL; a brother, Paul Rolling & wife, Dee, of Albany; a
sister-in-law, Lillian Edwards of Newton; seven grandchildren, Dana
Alewine of Leesburg, Lauren Allen of Leesburg, Scarlett Musgrove of
Americus, Daniel Allen of Americus, Lucas Allen of Baconton, Kristen
Chapman of Baconton, and Josh Herrington of Leesburg; and several great
grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Nancy Kay Hilliard Sharp
Nancy Kay Hilliard Sharp, 71, of Fountain Valley, CA, died July 3,
2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fountain Valley.

Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Lynn Roberts will officiate.
Born May 24, 1940 in Camilla and raised in the Cotton Community,
Mrs. Sharp was the daughter of the late James Weldon and Charlie
Mae Joiner Hilliard. She was married
to the late Ralph Sharp. Mrs.
Sharp retired from the Holiday Inn in Costa Mesa, CA as a
receptionist.
Survivors include a son, Richard Sharp of Fountain Valley, CA;
three daughters, Debra Darby Lind of Atlanta, Rhonda Darby
Kennedy of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Brenda Darby Duncan of
Princeville, HI; one sister, Rose Tobey of Olive Branch, MS; six
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 10 at Parker-Bramlett
Funeral Home in Camilla.
