Cinda Bratton Hearn
October 1, 1949 - September 15, 2007
Cinda Lou Bratton Was born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 1, 1949. She left this earth at home in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday afternoon, September 15, 2007, after a courageous bout with metastatic endometrial cancer. Cyndi is survived by her spouse Robert A. Hearn, daughter Patricia H. Walters (Glen), sons Trenton E. and Robert A. Hearn, III, mother Patsy S. Bratton, father Maurice E. Bratton, brothers Maurice E. Bratton, Jr., Samuel C. Bratton and Kenneth D. Bratton, sister Sally B. Wall (Gary) sister-in-law Laura H. Garner, nieces, nephews, uncles and a large extended family.
As the oldest of five, Cyndi took on many responsibilities that instilled a character of leadership that was a part of her nature throughout her life. While she was athletically endowed and had a tenacious drive that carried her to a state swimming championship, she also had an early interest in fashion and became involved in modeling. She graduated from John Overton High School in Nashville in 1967, and continued her education in Miami, moving to Atlanta, Georgia soon after completing her college curriculum where she began her career in women’s fashion and clothing.
Cyndi was married
in 1969 to Bob Hearn, the love of her life. While continuing her professional pursuits initially, she unselfishly ceded her career to raise three children with which the couple was blessed, along the banks of the Chattahoochee in northern Fulton County, taking on leadership roles in their schools, athletics, scouting and PTA organizations. Being artistically gifted, Cyndi engaged in many creative endeavors, from arts and crafts to becoming a performer as Cinders the Clown. Known for her cooking talents and taste, cuisine was a serious hobby of hers, appreciated by all who were privileged to partake of her fares. Her hospitality was noteworthy as no guest was unwelcomed or left any of her exquisite parties without experiencing her warmth and the joy she exuded.
Her career was resumed with a manufacturer of lady’s clothing that also operated a retail store in Roswell, Georgia, located in the historic cotton mill that was a part of the local history of the South which she cherished. She went on to manage a chain of stores situated in the northern Atlanta suburbs, the New Orleans area and Baton Rouge. She later joined French Dressing Jeans, a company based in Montreal, which led her to travel throughout the United States and Canada as a lady’s clothing fashion and retailing expert, conducting seminars and assisting with the establishment of new business developments.
Cyndi had a unique gift of complimentary personality traits. While she exuded charm and sincerity, always being outspokenly forthright, with a combination of perceptiveness and charisma that even she did not fully appreciate, she was a saleswoman supreme. You always knew where you stood with Cyndi, and it was usually where she wanted you to.
She was ever a trooper, never flinching travail - to which she was no stranger - and was a brave soldier in her fight against the devastation of cancer, winning several battles with multiple rounds of chemotherapy and modes of radiation treatments over this last year, but finally yielded the fight to this metastatic scourge and departed leaving a calm smile on her visage immediately after hosting her last guest of the many who joined her at bedside on Saturday, a gracious and strong southern lady to the end.
Arrangements were made in conjunction with Byars Funeral Home for transport of her remains for cremation to allow them to be dispersed as she requested along the Chattahoochee River on which we have been fortunate to share our home for the recent half of our lives. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society would help to develop a cure and support those who are struggling with this dreaded disease. A celebration of her life will be held at our home per her wishes during the week of her birthday on or about October 6, 2007.
Byars Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements, 678-455-5815.
