Mrs. Joann Gresham Brown, 68, of Cumming, GA passed away on September 19, 2007. She was the daughter of Alton Gresham and the former Connie Mann. She was born in Mobile, AL; and with her father in the Coast Guard, she grew up in cities all along the Gulf Coast and at the St. Marks Lighthouse.
The permanent family home would be Tallahassee, FL where Joann attended Leon High School. Here she enjoyed participating in debate and theater- passions that she would continue to pursue while attending Florida State University. On March 16, 1963, she married
Vernon Otis Brown, of Jacksonville, FL and moved to Jacksonville where Joann was an active member at Avondale Baptist Church.
She and Vernon taught Sunday School and remained as active members until moving to Georgia. In 1978, when she and her family moved to Roswell, Joann embarked on a career as a Real Estate agent with Century 21 and finally with Harry Norman Realtors as a relocation specialist. It was her calling in life to help people, either in a professional capacity, as a friend, mother, wife or neighbor.
She also became a Stephen Minister at the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church. Feeling called to help those in need, the Stephen Ministry was a wonderful place for her to nurture others and utilize her gifts of healing and care. In recent years Joann became active in alternative medicine, practicing as a Certified Reflexologist and as a Lymph Drainage and CranioSacral therapist. Her goal and joy was to help people find relief from chronic pain and illness, a calling in which she found great reward.
Those who knew Joann for any time at all knew her to be a person of unwavering faith and commitment to her Lord, purely by her actions and treatment of others. To close friends and family, she was quoted as saying, "I love the Lord and I love being a Christian." She was loved by people from many areas of her life including her professional career, her church friends, school friends and her extended family.
