Reverend Harold A. Marsh
The Reverend Harold A. Marsh, 95, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 in Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a native of Sebring, Ohio, living in Pennsylvania 35 years and in Vidalia since 1973. He was a retired Church of the Nazarene Minister and director of pastoral care at Meadows Regional Medical Center for 20 years. The Rev. Marsh was a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. and served as interim pastor at English Eddy, McGregor and Vidalia Presbyterian Churches. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Rebecca Marsh in 1998.
He is survived by two sons, William Marsh and wife, Patricia of Willmington Island and Roger Marsh and wife, Louise of Baxley; three grandchildren, David A. Marsh of Boswell, Penn., Alfred L. Marsh of Alamo and Joyce Lynn Marsh of Baxley; one brother, Alfred Marsh of Alliance, Ohio; five great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Rev. William McCluskey officiating. iIntermentfollowed in English Eddy Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carroll Williams, Tom Holton, Johnny Beasley, Sr., Jerry Dixon, William Brand and Edro Sapp.

Jeanette Summerall Shadron
Jeanette Summerall Shadron, 88, of Brunswick, died Sept. 21, 2004 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A native of Baxley, she had made her home in Brunswick for the past 63 years. Mrs. Shadron was the former co-owner of Shadron Furniture Company and was a member of Brunswick Women's Club and Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Surviving are one daughter, Saundra S. Abel (Ed) of Brunswick; one son, Harold M. Shadron (Judy) of Brunswick; one sister, Merle Summerall Carter of Baxley; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kevin Smith of LaHonda, CA, Cynthia Davis of Fayetteville, NC, Ed Abel III and Kimberly Clark, both of Brunswick, Cameron F. Shadron of St. Simons Island and Heather L. Ewing of Buchanan; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommie McMillan and the Rev. Tim Nobles officiating. Entombment followed in Brunwsick Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Harry Ward, Donald Gleaton, Dennis Strickland, Allan Knight, Bob Carlisle and her grandsons, Kevin Smith, Cameron Shadron and Ed Abel III.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Coastal Cardiology PC, including Dr. Mark Watson, Dr. Lana Skelton, Dr. Micheal Butler, Jerry Rose, P.A. and Mark Glaude, P.A., members of the Ruth Sunday School Class, members of the Hospital Auxiliary, Bob Zell and Billy Morgan.

Evelyn Spell Varnadore
Evelyn Spell Varnadore, 84, of Baxley, died Friday, October 1, 2004 in the Appling HealthCare System. She was born April 18, 1920 in Telfair County. Mrs. Varnadore was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late William Nash and the late Mamie Walthal Nash.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Edsel Crabb of Alston, Frankie and Earnest Barber, JoAnn and John Barber and Glenda and Preston Wildes, all of Alma; five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Spell of Baxley, James and Juanita Spell of Lyons, Charles and Von Spell of Surrency and Floyce and Sara Hutto of Snellville and Don and Carolyn Varnadore of Alma; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 3 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of David M. Miles Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Jones, the Rev. E.C. Crews, the Rev. Earnest Dyal and the Rev. Roy Woods officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Zoar Cemetery.

Henry Winton "Cub" Branch
Henry Winton "Cub" Branch, 78, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 25, 1925 and was a native and life long resident of Appling County. Cub was the son of the late Henry Grady "Cap" Branch and the late Minnie Lee Carter Branch and was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. He was retired from Appling County Board of Education and was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was the founder and former owner of B&F Restaurant. Cub was a member of the Homesville Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, Alee Temple of Savannah, York Rite Masons of Brunswick and was a Shriner.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John Grady and Joy Branch and Wink and Emma Branch of Baxley; one sister, Minnie Lee Davis of Baxley; one brother and sister-in-law, Clennie and Nettie Branch of Baxley; grandchildren, Keisha and Kevin Peacock, Brandy and Gary Thornton, Tyler Branch and Micah Branch; great-grandchildren, John Presley Orvin, Malarie Peacock, Bryce Peacock and Beau-Grayson Peacock; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Spring Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Teutsch, the Rev. Chip Woodruff and the Rev. B.D. Carter officiating.

Lula Mae Eason James
Lula Mae Eason James, 92, passed away Monday, July 19, 2004. She was born in Tattnall County on Dec. 14, 1911 to Lourina Tillman Eason and Bill Eason. She was a faithful member and on the Mother's Board at Greater Faith Temple C.O.G.I. C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie James.
She is survived by one sister, Lothel Mincey of Brunswick; one brother, Rufus (Juanita) Eason of Brunswick; one God daughter, Essie Lee Alderman of Wilmington, DE; two sons-in law, Ledlie Edwards and Shellie Cash, Sr., both of Surrency; one sister-in-law, Nudella Kellam of Detroit, MI; two brothers-in-law, Ken and Colon James, both of Tampa, Fla.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Elder Norris Williams Sr., officiating.
Active pallbearers were grandsons.
Floral attendants were granddaughters.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Church Mothers.

Linnie Branch Mayers
Linnie Branch Mayers, 96, of Vidalia, died Friday, July 23, 2004 in the Bethany Home Nursing Center. She was a native of Evans County and had lived most of her life in Appling County, before moving to Vidalia six and half years ago. Mrs. Mayers was the owner of Branch's Market Grocery and Abattoir, a member of First Baptist Church, the Fideloris Sunday School Class, founding member and former president of Cypress Garden Club, She was preceded in death by her son, T.E. Branch, Jr. She was the widow of Tommy Branch and K.C. Mayers. Mrs. Mayers was born January 28, 1908 to the late Luke Clark and the late Mollie Surrency Clark.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Mullis of Baxley; a son, Guyton Branch of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Beulah Mills of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 25 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Woodruff and the Rev Mike Woodard officiating. Eulogies given by Caroline Mullis and Guyton Branch. Burial followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tommy Branch, Ricky Branch, Buddy Stone, Jason Stone, Scotty Stone, Luke Stone, Randy Livingston and Edsel Mayers.

James Randall "Randy" Sharpe
James Randall "Randy" Sharpe, 41, of Baxley, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Appling County, he was a member of Big Oaks Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Sharpe and Bonnie Virginia Sellers Sharpe. Sharpe was born Jan. 8, 1963.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry J. Sharpe of Baxley; two daughters, Shannon Renee Simmons and husband, Scotty and Ashley Marie Sharpe, all of Baxley; three sisters, June Sellers and Joan Brannen, both of Baxley and Lynn Opdyke of Snellville; four brothers, Dan Sharpe and Van Sharpe of Baxley, David Sharpe of Hazlehurst and Toney Sharpe of Waycross; one granddaughter, Allie Brooke Simmons; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19 at Big Oaks Church of God with the Rev. Virginia Herrington officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Oakview Baptist Church cemetery in Jeff Davis County.

Rozel John Murphy
Rozel John Murphy, 77, of Baxley, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in the Appling HealthCare System after an extended illness. He was a life long resident of Appling County and a member of Sand Hill Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Murphy was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mickey Orvin of Baxley; one son, Damon Murphy of Baxley; former wife, Sue Murphy of Baxley; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Nettie and Clennie Branch, Lola Beecher, Loretta and Frank Miles, all of Baxley, Roberta and Glynn Thornton of Senoia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edsel and Jeanne Murphy of Baxley and Orville and Virginia Murphy of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Brandon and Justin Orvin, both of Baxley, Faith Cain of Huntington Beach, CA and Rebecca Cain of Athens.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from Sand Hill Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Bishop Randy Sellers, the Rev. Allen Carter and the Rev. Gary Page officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Zion Baptist Church cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Steven A. Golub
Steven A. Golub, 53, died Saturday, July 17, 2004 in Douglas. He was a native of East Cleveland, OH, where he worked as an engineer for the city housing authority for many years. Golub was the son of Helen Golub. He lived in Baxley for several years before moving to Douglas in 2003. Golub was a Lion Club Member and a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Penny Golub of Joliet, IL; two daughters, Stephanie Golub of Hazlehurst and Kelly Belmonte (Paulo) of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Randy Hourigan (Aimee) of Tuscaloosa, AL and Scott Golub of Douglas; an adopted son, Michael Mullins of Nicholas; three grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
Memorization was made by cremation.

Franklin "Spring" Carter
Franklin "Spring" Carter, 71, of Baxley, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 in St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. He was a native of Appling County and a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. A very kind and loving man that will be missed very much. Carter was born May 10, 1933 to the late Emmett Carter and Elizabeth Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Carter of Baxley; two daughters, Phyllis Jacobs of Jacksonville, Fla. and Debbie Woodard of Baxley; three sons, Steve Mincey, Dewayne Carter and Eddis Carter, all of Baxley; three sisters, Velma Dominy, Yvonne Deloach and Imogene Mincey, all of Baxley; three brothers, Wallace Carter, James Edward Carter, Emmette (Man) Carter, all of Baxley; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 2 from Spring Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Chip Woodruff and the Rev. Bobby Brinkley officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Carter Cemetery.
