TIFTON — Charles F. Rainey Jr., 62, of Tifton died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Tifton, with burial to follow in Oakridge Cemetery. Dr. Wayne Roe, Dr. W. Ches Smith III and Dr. Harvey Ellis will officiate.

Born on December 12, 1943 in Albany, to Mabel Holloman Rainey of Albany and the late Charles Rainey Sr. Mr. Rainey was a retired turf farmer and owner of Tifton Seed & Sod. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton, where he was also a member of Elvin Walker Sunday School Class. He served in the National Guard. He graduated from Albany High School and Georgia Southwestern College. His hobbies were genealogy, southern history and he loved to snow ski and spend time with his family.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Mary Jensen Rainey of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Chip Rainey and Krista of Chauncey; two daughters, Angie Willis (Erick) of Tifton and Meg (Jacob) Hale of Murphy, NC; two brothers, Tommy Rainey of Atlanta, and Donnie Rainey of St. George Island, FL; two sisters, Ann Griffith of Franklin, TN, and Cindy Guillebeau of Albany; and four grandchildren, Rick Willis, Mitch Willis, Jensen Rainey and Jake Hale.

Ms. Beaver was born on January 30, 1944 in Concord, NC. She worked for 24 years at the Albany Marine Corps Base with supplies and contracts. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Warner Robins. Her parents, Earl and Margaret Allison preceded her in death.

A native of Randolph County, GA, Mr. Harrell had resided in Dawson since 1967, moving from Cuthbert. He was a stock clerk for Harvey's Supermarket, and attended New Testament Holiness Church in Fitzgerald, GA. He was an avid sports fan, a loving family man and was married
to his wife, Sherry for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Goodman Harrell; four sons, Mark, John and Brian Harrell, all of Dawson, and Daniel B. Harrell and his wife, Trina of North Carolina; two sisters, Brenda Harman and her husband, Charles of Aiken, S.C., Callye Pearson and her husband, Charles of Sylvester, GA; two grandchildren, Josh and Emma Travis, both of North Carolina.

A native of Worth County, GA, Mrs. Lipsey has lived in Albany since 1947 where she was a member of the Family Worship Center. Mrs. Lipsey attended Worth County Schools and also attended Georgia Southwestern College. Mrs. Lipsey will always be known as a wonderful wife of 55 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Paul D. Lipsey Jr. of Albany; daughter, Deborah L. Olsen of Leesburg; son, Paul D. Lipsey III of Greer, SC; four grandchildren, Leslie Andrews, Josh Olsen, Anna Lipsey and Paula Lipsey; and one great-grandchild, Katelyn Andrews.

ALBANY — Alice Harriet Phelps Metcalf (Mrs. James C. Metcalf) died Sunday, April 16, 2006.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Striffler -Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Columbus with the Reverend Charles R. Hasty Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Metcalf was born in Shreveport, LA, on August 23, 1924, daughter of Henry Kneeland Phelps and Dorothy Weston Phelps. She was a graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport. She attended Stephans College, Louisiana State University and graduated from Centenary College in 1952. She earned her M.S. degree at Columbus State University and later was awarded a R.J. Reynolds Fellowship in Economics to the University of North Carolina and a Fellowship in International Economics to the University of Georgia. She taught school for 23 years spending most of those years at Hardaway High School and Columbus High School. She retired in 1986. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, Junior League of Columbus, Wynn House and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She served as a representative of Camp Merrie-Woode for many years.
Mrs. Metcalf was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Crawford Metcalf; her daughter, Dorothy Metcalf Thomas and her brother, Kneeland Phelps.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Metcalf McKenny (Benjamin) of Orlando, Fla.; a son, James Crawford Metcalf, Jr., M.D. (Susan) of Albany; eight grandchildren, Christopher Reid Thomas, M.D. (Sally) of Winston-Salem, NC, Lauren Thomas Flores (Dean) of Atlanta, James Cannon Thomas of Tappahannock, VA, Taylor Holmes Thomas of Columbus, Catherine Grey Metcalf of Memphis, TN, Mary Kneeland Metcalf of Auburn, AL, Molly McKenny Flournoy (Moffett) of Columbus, Meredith McKenney Clayton (Joseph) of Orlando, FL; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ridley was born December 23, 1934, in Worth County, GA. Mildred Louise Christmas Lasseter Ridley was the daughter of the late Lee Christmas and Alma Thompson Christmas, also preceded in death by Susie, two brothers, and five sisters. She retired from Palmyra Medical Centers.
