ASHBURN — Funeral services for Emily Butler Perry, 93, of Ashburn, GA, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, in the Ashburn First Baptist Church. iIntermentwill follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Perry passed away at her home Monday following an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Jordan H. and Maude B. Butler, she was born in Dooly Co., Ga., and had lived in Turner Co. since 1930. She was the widow of Charles V. “Pelly” Perry, who died in 1988. A member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church for 60 years, she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years, Adult Choir and Children’s Choir Director, Church organist and pianist. She was a member of the WMU and past chairman of the Prayer Circle.
Mrs. Perry was a former public school music teacher in Sumner, Ga., and served as principal at the Old Hobby School in Turner Co. She was founder, owner and operator of the Happy Center Kindergarten for 22 years. After the death of her husband she served as President of Perry Funeral Chapel, Inc. and continued in its service to the community until her health failed. She was a Georgia licensed Funeral Director for over 55 years.
Mrs. Perry received the Golden Deed’s Award from the Turner County Exchange Club in 1974 and was named Business Woman of the Year Award in 1976. She was a member of the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Star for over 60 years where she served as Worthy Matron and State Grand Organist. She was a member of the Knox- Conway Chapter of the D.A.R. serving as Chaplain. She was a member of the Primetimer’s and Keen Age Club.
She was well known for her musical talents which she shared at countless weddings, funerals, club meetings, and at the Ashburn Health Care for programs and entertainment. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband over the United States and many foreign countries. She was affectionately known as “Gammy” to her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George I. Butler in 1965; her son-in-law, Marion Jack See in 2001 and a granddaughter-in-law, Amanda McMillian Perry in 2005.
Survivors include her children, Elizabeth P. See, Charles B. (Barbara Ann) Perry, H. Paul (Brenda) Perry and Edgar F. (Darlene) Perry, all of Ashburn; her grandchildren are Tonja P. (Kevin) Healey of Valdosta, Laurel E. See of Savannah, Charles H. “Bucky” Perry of Quitman, Charles Jackson See of Raleigh, NC, Maj. Stephen E. See, USAF, Turkey and his fiancee’, Ashley E. Gully of Montgomery, AL, Melissa A. (Missy) P. (Robbie) Eason of Lenox, Eliene Perry, Jonathan P. Perry, both of Ashburn, Matthew (Matt) C. Perry of Ashburn and his fiancee, Amanda Leach of Tifton, and Ashley E. Perry of Ashburn; her great-grandchildren include Cody W. and Caleb P. Healey of Valdosta, Charles McMillian “Mac” and Anna Caroline Perry of Quitman, Robert Jacob “Jake”, Emily Katherine and Perry Lawrence Eason of Lenox.
The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel.

COLQUITT — James Jackson Shiver, 61, of Colquitt died May 16, 2007, at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday graveside in Cooks Cemetery. The Rev. Fletcher Sheffield will officiate.
Born March 1, 1946, in Baker County, Mr. Shiver was a carpenter and an Army veteran.
Survivors include three sisters, Lucy Cook, Elaine Hallett and Faustine Cook, all of Colquitt; one brother, Ronald Shiver of Colquitt; a large number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Bro. Raymond Ferguson was born to Mrs. Emma Lou Ferguson and the late James Roy Ferguson, Sr. on May 19, 1937, in Dawson, Terrell County, GA.
At an early age, he joined Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Graves, GA.
Raymond grew up in Terrell County and attended George Washington Carver High School, Dawson, GA. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He later moved to New York where he was employed as a mechanic and maintenance worker.
On December 11, 1961, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Effie Mae Grimsley. This union was blessed with one daughter, Cynthia Ferguson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Roy Ferguson, Sr.; two brothers, M.C. Ferguson and James Roy Ferguson, Jr. and a sister, Sandra Faye Ferguson.
The legacy of his season is left to his loving and devoted wife, Effie Ferguson; a special and loving daughter, Cynthia Ferguson; a loving mother, Emma Lou Ferguson; three loving sisters, Janie Ferguson Wright, Viree Ferguson (Leonard) and Catherine Ferguson; four loving brothers, Robert Ferguson (Catherine), Rev. Thomas Ferguson (Ruth), Jimmy Ferguson (Ollie) and Eugene Ferguson; his favorite aunt, Louise ‘Sudie’ Lewis; his favorite uncle, Nathaniel Hodges (Frankie); a special nephew, Michael Wright and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

TIFTON — Charles Robert Alsobrook, Sr., 76, of Tifton, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Alsobrook was born October 21, 1931, in Dougherty Co. to the late Ray James Alsobrook and Louise Miller Alsobrook. Mr. Alsobrook was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Annie Strickland Alsobrook, who died July 4, 2007, and a son, Dewayne Skidmore. Mr. and Mrs. Alsobrook were married
February 12, 1953.
Mr. Alsobrook served eleven years in the military, serving in the South Pacific during WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He also served in the National Guard for many years. He worked as a telephone communications specialist for AT&T.; Mr. Alsobrook was a past commander of the VFW Post and was an active volunteer with Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting and he was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He attended New Covenant Church.
Mr. Alsobrook is survived by one son, Charles Robert (Chuck) Alsobrook, Jr. and wife, Jana, of Tifton; two daughters, Lynn Carmichael of Douglas and Jackie Carmichael and husband, Ric of Canton; his grandchildren, Randy E. Carmichael, Jr., of Douglas, Beth Skidmore of Moultrie, Sarah Carmichael Durham of Lenox, Jennifer Skidmore of Moultrie, Richard Alan Carmichael, Jr., of Tifton, Charles Robert (Brock) Alsobrook, III, of Tifton, William Daniel Carmichael of Canton, and Ashley Lauren Alsobrook of Tifton; his great-grandchildren, Savannah, Marcus, Destiny, Heather, Duron, and Faith; one brother, James Ray Alsobrook of Newton; and one sister, Peggy Strickland of Albany.

Norn November 28, 1929 in Mitchell Co., Mr. Morey was the son of the late John Thomas and Bessie Gregory Morey. He was a veteran of the US Army and worked as a construction superintendent.
