AMERICUS — Mrs. Sara Martin Piper age 76 died early Sunday morning May 11, 2008 at Perfect Care 114 Sullivan Drive in Americus. Funeral services will be held from the Graveside at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 13, 2008 at Hopeful Baptist Church in Mitchell County with Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the residence of Mr. A.D. Martin 206 Frieda Lane Americus, Ga.
Mrs. Piper was born November 29, 1931 in Mitchell County the daughter of the late John Dwight Martin and Velva Wooten Martin. She was retired from the Veteran Administration office as a secretary and was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church in Mitchell County.
Mrs. Piper is survived by a daughter Marsha Donald of Gainesville, Ga. and a brother Arnold D. Martin of Americus, Ga. Also surviving are two nieces Lynn Jordan and husband David of Americus, Ga. and Kaye Keatley of Unadilla, Ga.; also a nephew Kevin Martin and wife Paula of Ellaville, Ga. Mrs. Piper was preceded in death by her first husband Bernard Donald and second husband Harry Piper also a sister-in-law; Earline Martin. VIRGINA BEACH — Thomas Oliver Renn, 86, of the 4400 block of Blackbeard Road, passed away June 16, 2008, at his home.
A native of Virginia, he was the son of the late Walter and Olive Renn. Mr. Renn was the first civilian personnel officer at the Marine Corp. Logistics Base priorly called depot of supplies. Having served from 1956-1963 before transferring to Virginia. He retired from Civil Service as the Civilian Personnel Director at the Naval Supply Center and was the recipient of the Navy distinguished Civilian Service Award as well as the navy meritorias award. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion and the Ruritan Club in Keysville, VA. He was an avid fisherman, a superior gardener and just enjoyed the outdoors in general.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia Love Schindel Renn, and father of Joanne Madeline Renn and Timothy Edwin Renn and wife Dianne Beck Renn, all of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Bette Schindel of Hagerstown, MD and Ruth Coe Renn of Winter Haven, FL; three grandchildren, Timothy Michael Renn of Wellington, NZ, JoAnn M. Allen of Norfolk, VA and Ashley C. Renn of Virginia Beach, VA; and one great-grandson, Thomas Michael Renn of Wellington, NZ. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Bell Renn; and his sister, Matilda Renn Ranson.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday August 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel with Rev. Robert ”Chappy” Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, August 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Rosehill cemetery in Hagerstown, MD. SYLVESTER — Alma Florence “Mammaw” Crawford, 73, of Sylvester died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Albany Health Care with her family at her side.

Mrs. Crawford was born March 15, 1933, in Monroe County to the late George Hiram and Agnus Verna Wilson Corley. Mrs. Crawford had worked for Sonny’s Bar- B-Q in the 80’s, and was of the Baptist faith. “Mammaw”, as she was known by many, enjoyed playing bingo at the VFW and was an avid fisher and card player.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah “Mike” and her husband, Joe Potter of Sylvester; one brother and sister- in-law, Mickey and Erin Corley of Flovilla; five sisters and brothers- in-law, Louise Dykes of Forsyth, Doris and Buck Tidwell of Lizella, Ruth Waits of Tennessee, Shirley and Dan Daniels of Forsyth and Janie and Billy Mays of Forsyth; three grandchildren, Joe M. Potter and his wife, Stephanie Potter of Oakfield, John Michael Potter of Albany, and Shay Parejko and her husband, Ryan Parejko of McDonough, formerly of Albany; three great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Laiken Parejko, both of McDonough, and Brandon Potter of Oakfield; 27 nieces and nephews; 46 great-nieces and nephews.

SYLVESTER — Aricie Glenn Johnson, 86, of 309 Carter Rd., Sylvester, died Thursday, January 25, 2007, at her residence.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Pentecostal Freewill Church in Poulan with interment in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Poulan. The Rev. Dexter Thurmond will officiate.
Mr. Johnson was born November 23, 1920, in Worth County. She was educated in the Worth County Public School System. Mrs. Johnson was a seamstress. Early in life, she was a member of St. John AME Church in Poulan. Later in life, she was a member of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church in New York City, NY, there she served as a member of the usher board and the choir.
Survivors include a nephew she took as her son, Willie C. Munford of Sylvester; two sisters, Narcissus Munford and Beatrice Glenn, both of Sylvester; two goddaughters, Keyonya Glenn Munford and Latecia Cheevers, both of Sylvester.

SYLVESTER — Roy Marshall, 53, of 411 W. Pope St., Sylvester, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Born March 16, 1953, in Dougherty County, Mr. Marshall was educated in the Worth County Public School System. He was a carpenter.

SYLVESTER — Ruth Paul McCrary, 94, of 301 Quail Rise, Sylvester, died Thursday, February 1, 2007, at her residence.

Born May 17, 1912, in Worth County, to William Gordon Paul and Annie Estelle Bozeman Paul, Mrs. McCrary had lived in Worth County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of D.A.R. and U.D.C. She was also a member of Isabella Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the W.G. Paul Sunday School Class and also had 43 years perfect attendance in Sunday School. She was very active in the WMU becoming the Vice-President in the State Level in the Ga. Division. She was the widow of Elmer J. McCrary, who preceded her in death June 13, 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Avis M. Patterson (Tom) of Sylvester; son, Royce McCrary (Debbie) of Sylvester; six grandchildren, Brad Patterson, Tim Patterson, Les McCrary, Elliott McCrary, Laura Brotherton and Keri McCrary; two great- grandchildren, Alfie Brotherton and Abigail Patterson.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.

A native of Albany, GA, Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Albany and was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Warren (Taxi) Smith; daughter, Eleanor Davis Sheppard; two grandsons, J. Paul Davis and Henry (Hank) Davis.

ALBANY — Ethel Lee Williams of Albany died January 29, 2007.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Brother James Jackson will officiate.
Mrs. Williams was born February 16, 1925, to Luke Carter and Lucy Mackey Carter, in Baker County. In September 1942, she married
Lynwood Charles “L.C.” Williams. Mrs. Williams resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, before returning to her home in Albany, GA. During this time, she owned and operated a successful family business. Many still remember her store on McJones called L.C. Grocery, where they were always greeted with a warm smile and friendly conversation.
Ethel dedicated her life to Jehovah once she learned the Truth afterwards symbolizing by water baptism in 1957.
Those who will cherish her memory by following her precepts and examples include: her daughter, JoAnne Louise Jones and son-in-law, Marvin L. Jones; son, James “Bo” Williams and daughter-in-law, Juanita Williams of Albany. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane and a brother, Leo Carter; grandchildren, Marvietta L.
