COCHRAN - Elliott Van Segroves, age 97, died Saturday in the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 3:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Segroves, born in Worth County, had lived in Cochran since 1995. He was the husband of the late Wilma Springs Segroves. He was a retired insurance salesman from Liberty National Life Insurance Co. and a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors are his children, Sonny (LaMerle) Segroves of Sycamore, Jean Register of Macon and Judy (Howard) Briggs of Cochran; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at 127 Lewis St. and will greet friends one hour before the service Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home.

ALBANY -- Brother George Edward Hicks was born February 19, 1941 in Mitchell County, to Annie Lee and C. T. Hicks.
He received his public school education in Camilla and Albany, Georgia. He confessed Christ at an early age. George joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member until the family moved to Albany, Georgia. He continued his education in Albany and graduated from Monroe High School in 1960.
George's memberships included Teamsters Union 528, UBC Male Chorus and Mass Choir and The Golden Key Club.
He retired after 35 years of service from Carolina/ABF/Harper Trucking Freight Lines. After retiring he decided to serve with Sowega Council on Aging. He delivered to the elderly in the nutrition program better known as 'Meals on Wheels." George faithfully served until the day before his passing. He was a hardworking, God-fearing and dedicated family man. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, and uncle. George was affectionately known as Pa-Pa and Uncle George.
He departed this life on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Phoebe North Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece (Elaine) and granddaughter (April.)
Those left to cherish his memories includes, his loving wife, Stella Hicks, his siblings, Lucy (Charlie), Annie Doris (Oscar), Mary (Eugene), and Barry (Myrlande); his children, Valerie (Bobby) Ellis, and Vincent Hicks; five grandchildren, Marqus (OJ), Latosha, April (deceased), Tyrell, and Sydney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 214 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. Rev. Dr. J. A. Severson will officiate. iIntermentwill follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM at M. L. King Memorial Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Drive. The family will receive friends at 2701 Brittany Road.

ALBANY -- Mr. Charlie Dock Raburn, 70, of Albany passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the chapel of Hall and Hall Funeral Home. Reverends Terry Siniard and Charles Jones will officiate with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens.
Mr. Raburn was born September 5, 1941 in Macon County, son of the late Howard Raburn, Sr. and the late Dollie Lamberth Raburn. He worked for many years and owned his own business as a painter. He enjoyed working with wood and had a great love for his grandchildren. Mr. Raburn was Baptist by faith.
In addition to his parents his son, Charles "Chuck" Keith Raburn and brother, Howard Raburn, Jr. preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gladys Hill Raburn; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Denise Bates and husband, Burt of Sylvester; grandchildren, Brandon Bates and wife, Beth of Putney, Justin Bates, Breanna Raburn and Baylin Raburn all of Sylvester and one great-grandchild, Ayden Bates of Putney.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC -- Thomas "Tom" Ray Page, age 70, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his residence. Born in Moultrie, GA, he was a son of the late William Page and Jimmie Yearty. Mr. Page was a U.S. Air Force veteran and he was a manufacturing consultant in Guatemala. He was a charter member of Twin Lakes SBC in Monticello, IN. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown and president in his Sunday school class. He was passionate about helping others and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Louise Hayes of Albany, GA and Patricia Bentz of Leesburg, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Page of Pawleys Island; a son, Thomas Ray Page, Jr. of Bishopville, SC; a daughter, Kerri Raye Birnie of Aurora, CO; a step-son, Shawn Leigh Elliott; grandchildren, Thomas Ray Page, III, Austin Page, William Page, Margaret "Maggie" Page, Brenna Birnie and Emily Birnie; step-grandchildren, Wyatt Welch, Christian Welch, Cameron Elliott and Laine Elliott.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, May 10, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Georgetown with Reverend Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. Burial will be private.
